>> swimmer feigen had to pay $10,000 to leave brazil. we are now trying to sort all of the details out. >> reporter: the olympic sized event getting a lot of attention is whether or not u.s. olympic ryan lochte and his teammates were ever robbed at gunpoint in rio de janeiro. the athletes station bathroom and were questioned by armed guards before paying for the damage and left. teammates were escorted off the u.s.-bound flight wednesday night and taken to the police station where they faced hours of questioning. both swimmers heckled as they left the rio police station returning to the hotel rooms before boarding a flight out of brazil last night. on the night in question, lochte and his teammates maintained they got an ataxi

headed to the olympic village. >> the guy whipped out his gun, comed it, put it to my forehead and i was like whatever. >> reporter: police released new surveillance video from integration where the swimmers say the -- video from the gas station where the swimmers say the incident took place. sources who spoke to all four swimmers say their story still holds up of video is missing, which they claim would show the men being held up at gunpoint and bullied to sit down on the curb until they handed over cash. overnight, the u.s. olympic committee offering this statement saying "we apologize to our hosts in rio and the people of brazil for this distracting ordeal in the midst of what should rightly be a celebration of excellence."

zika virus there. that we do not see very often. we do know already that state leaders have been in talks about whether to warn pregnant women to stay away. if that happens, it could be a huge blow for miami and miami beach where tourism is by far the most profitable industry. there are reports that they were treated for mosquitoes on miami beach. the number one florida tourist hot spot which is 7 the wynnewood district. several media outlets sited a health official as the source. as of right now, the city's mayor is urging people to stay calm. >> nothing, i repeat, nothing has been confirmed from the florida department of health, the cdc, or by the county. we have not had any confirmation. these are two cases. i know there has been talk about some kind of clusters.

towards tampa. we're looking a little slow, i- 4 but looking great on 275 over in pinellas county. dan? we turn now to a developing story. a deadly shooting overnight many west tampa. police found the body of a man in nassau street with a gunshot wound. we will bring you any information as soon as we get it. updating you now on breaking news we last night. a s.w.a.t. situation that started with shots fired in pinellas county. police have a 72-year-old man in protective custody. they say he barricaded himself on 66th street then firing three shots. detectives now say he was arguing with his wife, and he has a history of mental health and alcohol issues. they say it's fortunate no one got hurt. >> for his safety and everybody

the evacuation orders, staying put in their homes and calling 911 for help. emergency services might not be able to respond. the trend is dangerous as infernos speed through drought- starved vegetation. many people who refuse to evacuate have animals, and there are limited places they can go with them. >> my car's packed. my animals are in my car, and we're real close to the main with their animals can't check into hotels with them. there are now animal shelters that are open. volunteers at the san bernardino fairgrounds are caring for horses, sheep, goats, and several llamas. a 17-year-old from georgia faces charges after deputies hired a hitman to kill two classmates. deputies received a tip that morgan miles morris was attempting to hire the hitman so they arranged an undercover

officer $12,000 and provide information on how to carry out the murders. classmates were surprised to learn of the plans. >> i was kind of surprised. i haven't talked to him in a while, but it's kind of sad because, you know, i've, you know, known him, so it's sad to know that he's gone off that way. >> the pickens county sheriff's office contacted the potential victims. morris was arrested and solicitation to commit murder. >> if you've gotten suspicious mail lately, you are not alone. a lot of people have gotten letters seemingly from the u.s. government. do you need to be concerned about identity theft if you get one of these letters? >> reporter: thousands of people are receiving a strange letter that appears to be from the government in the mail, and some of them are freaking out about it. here's what to do and what not

suspicious mailing. >> reporter: butch payne found this in his mailbox the other day. >> it was addressed to the resident of my address. >> reporter: he says he almost pitched it. >> i thought it was junk mail. then i saw u.s. department of commerce. >> reporter: it explained it was the american community survey, an expanded census form sent to 3 million families every year and not just census years. just about everyone who has everec questions if this is from the government or i.d. theft scam. >> i thought maybe some kind of scam artist because they ask you to go online to fill out the survey. >> reporter: butch says he was horrified by some of the questions such as, are you married, widowed or divorced? how do you get to work? what time do you leave for work and what's your annual income? with so much hacking in the news, he didn't want to answer that.

us out with that and that will result in a few afternoon thunderstorms from east to west. a reversal from west to east tomorrow. that means coastal morning showers. not all of us getting the afternoon and inland thunderstorms. by the way, the tropics are active as well. the showers and storms rolled through with the 12-hour loop. the current titan doppler radar is quiet. so for saturday and sunday, this pattern now greens and hues push east. keep that in mind. if you have outdoor plans, things were covered 20 to 30%. here's to fiona out in the middle of nowhere. it will be the open waters and nothing doing there. i think this thing will disappear before it gets to the latter part of the forecast there. this will not.

she's walking with me from morning to night. we don't go by ourselves because we're female. >> reporter: unfortunately this is not the first time campus police have had to deal with the problem like this. they actually got a report of a flasher back in april. then in october of last year, they got three reports of a flasher. at this point, we do not believe any of these are connected. >> for now, reporting live at the university florida, rodney dunningan, abc action news. getting our first look of a man accused of molesting a young girl in a pool. jose fernando pena is accused of grabbing a girl under the age of 12 on monday. he rubbed himself against her. she swam away but he grabbed her and then molested her. tampa police want to talk to the last person seen with an 82-year-old man before he was

backyard. police want to know if you have seen this man, carlos cordero. watten was found unconscious in his backyard wednesday evening. the family says watten is still in the hospital right now. if you know where he is, call tampa police. a high school student in jail without bound after stabbing his mom and young brother while on vacation in the we told you yesterday about the double stabbing in see esa keys. -- in siesta keys. he was visiting from massachusetts. the teen's mom called 911 after the attack. she and her 14-year-old son are in the hospital with serious injuries but authorities say they should survive. attorneys for two dozen media groups are demanding the release of 911 calls involving the pulse nightclub shootings in orlando.

should be decided in state court. right now, the recordings are tied up in federal court. the city of orlando says they are exempt under public records law. the fate of five polk county schools may be on the line right now. last night, families learned what they are doing to improve the grades. they are considered failing schools because they'd been given "d" the superintendent says the schools they are hopeful the new plan can make a difference. >> we have to have faith. >> that's all we're committed to doing. that's why we're sharing the information of what it's going to look like and we're going to continue focusing on improving our entire district. >> the state rejected an improvement plan for the five failing schools.

plan this week. the superintendent hopes the state will approve this new plan. right now, hundreds of students at usf have started petitions to get back there. student discount admissions to busch gardens. the theme park canceled the discounts citing a lack of interest. the petition already has nearly 2,000 signatures. i was coming here. i knew it was a great benefit of the school and i was looking forward to it. >> i think the has a big interest. i think if they put it back on, they would see a lot more activity this year because i think just the petition alone raised a lot of awareness of it. >> we reached out to the university and responded saying poor sales are not enough to validate continuing the offer. they are open to discussing a new offer if student leadership can guarantee demand is there. no real direction in

a developing story in newark, new jersey. police are trying what caused a transit bus to crash into a second bus. authorities say the buses ran into each other likely at high speeds. one bus driver died. another driver and 18 passengers suffered a variety of injuries. seven people are now listed in serious condition. >> he named all of the characters he wants to see. police are giving this young boy a reason to smile. they are sending 7-year-old tyrone lowe to walt disney world. last december tyrone's father killed his mother before taking his own life. the nypd banded together to raise money. over the years, they put $5,000 into a college fund for tyrone. they will continue to raise money and support this young boy. a dad in his kids for a bad trip that forced him to call 911. he was hallucinating after eating brownies laced with marijuana. when police arrived, he was crawling up the stairs yelling insults to the family cat. he said he started feeling sick after eating brownies he found in the back of the car that his adult children had used early in the day. the wife called the kids to see what was in the browniesp.

and i was like, oh, great, magic ale brownies. call the kids and tell them i had two brownies and ask them how high i am going to get. >> the kids didn't respond. he called 911. police did come to the house but didn't arrest him or take him to the hospital. he was able to sleep it off. now that he's sober, he says he stands by what he said about the cat. people with allergies now epi pens are lifesavers but the price has skyrocketed because a similar product has been recalled. in the last six months, the price has gone up $200. in the last few years, it's gone up $500. it was a little over $100 and now costs more than $600. the pharmaceutical company that makes epi pens is taking advantage of the monopoly on the market. >> i'm having a hard time understanding how the drug company can allow this to help because it's not just like a drug that can help them feel
