would not find him dead. he left home wednesday and never returned. this morning an alert nurse saw his picture on our newscast and called. so we conferenced them in with police who brought the family to identify their loved one. >> reporter: the parents are here now visiting their son. he has broken bones, internal bleeding, and he's also in a coma. even though they're also grateful he's alive. >> devastating. >> reporter: victor encountered every parent's worst nightmare for two days. their son left and never returned. his wife woke him up to ask him where the teen might be. >> 11:00 turned into 2:00. and at that time we called the police. >> reporter: no one knew. but just minutes after victor last

vote not for marco is a vote for trump." two people sentenced in connection with a major dog fighting bust. more than 30 injured and starving dogs were rescued from that ring. julie explains why cases like this are so difficult to prosecute. >> reporter: the state attorney tells me his office doesn't see many cases like this one, and they're often difficult to prosecute. today a judge sentenced two people to a year in jail for their connection to a dogfighting ring. >> reporter: just after 11:00 am, a jury reached a verdict. mona cumberland and renaldo bell were found guilty of fighting and mating dogs. in may 2014 officers arrested two dozen people where they found 30 dogs with visible injuries. cumberland broke down in tears. she testified earlier this week at the time she lived with her boyfriend at the house at the center of it all. she knew about

avoided any jail time. the city of belle aisle has settled a case against a police department accused of discrimination. a report shows sergeant kevin carter was found incompetent for repeatedly ignoring directives from the police chief. the city paid $45,000 as part of an agreement in which carter retired. edgewater police need your help identifying a man they say tried to abduct a little boy on his way to school. this stranger tried to convince a 9-year-old boy to come home with him. police have increased patrols. a worried mother has a desperate plea for help finding her missing children. >> please if you see my baby, please call someone. >> how she says their father tricked her and got away with them.

neighbors don't want a mosque built in their neighborhood. the spot has been empty for years. people who live near it say they're ready to fight to keep it that way. >> reporter: people who live in royal ranch estates say this is a slice of heaven. each homeowner owns at least two acres on the lake. it's remote enough for maureen to keep her horse in her backyard. >> this is still our piece of paradise. >> reporter: the plan, a 6,900 square foot mosque they say would change all of that. they say it's about the traffic and noise. >> it isn't about it being a mosque. it's about it being anything other than a home. >> reporter: all of this land used to be a cattle ranch. it was sold out in sections. this neighborhood came after the sale. this side of the street is zoned for residential only. the mosque would have to get
