did get the word's attention. >> reporter: north korea television claims that the company tested a hydrogen bomb and it had been, quote, a perfect success. if that's true, it's a dangerous step forward for one of the world's most unpredictable nations. the white house, though, is skeptical. >> the initial analysis that's been conducted of the events reported overnight is not consistent with north korean claims of a successful hydrogen bomb test. >> reporter: no other country is even confirming the test and china is condemning it. the tremors from the underground explosion were felt in china and south korea where officials say it's a provocation. north korea's leader kim jong-un knows that but signed off on the test anyway. military planes were sent to check air samples. u.s. ambassador to japan caroline kennedy is
5:04 pm
>> it will take a few days to determine precisely on what kind of device was dedicated. it also prompted a meeting at the council which could result in widening sanctions against north korea. this seriously undermines international -- [ indiscernible ] >> hydrogen bombs are significantly more powerful than atomic bombs. in an atom bomb is equal to 20,000 tons of tnt and an h bomb is $10 million. out in milford, these are pretty dramatic pictures right now. >> yeah. these pictures into the newsroom right now. a large truck on fire. this is happening in milford. you can see it completely
5:05 pm
state police say that all southbound lanes have been shut down as crews battle the flames. again, it's happening on 495 south in milford. the entire cab of the truck and looks to be the whole back of the trailer is completely engulfed in flames. this is at route 94/95 southbound at route 85. if you know anyone in that area, no reports on injuries just yet. we don't know who it was and what the status of the driver is in that vehicle but a really serious situation going on on 94 and 95. we'll keep you posted. >> yeah, it's been some trouble on the highway since the huge tractor trailer that lost its load of plywood on the masspike off-ramp. so crews are busy with that now and the fire truck that you see there is the first to arrive on the scene. we're hoping the driver made it
5:06 pm
off to the side of the road. have no idea what he may be carrying but we'll learn if we hear it's something in aable. no traffic getting through there right now on i-95 south of milford, i'm sure drivers for quite some distance can see that something is going on up ahead as they go nowhere. >> this is on 495 south in milford. you can see the flames tearing through the cab of the truck and the entire back it and see the ring of fire on its side over there. the flames are just tearing through the tractor/trailer. we hope the drivers was able to get out and fire crews, you can see right now, they are going to work as they are trying to apply water to the fire. look at this right now, as they try to put out the fire in the >> and then you can also sort of see the ring of fire off to the
5:07 pm
these sort of -- let's question jr to find out could there be any kind of wildfire there if there's brush? we obviously saw snow last week so we have some precipitation, some wet ground but just a big mess. when something is that billing, you might allow it to burn but no way. 507 -- 5:07 is never a good time to be part of the commute but this will take a while. you you can see more smoke than flames. that's encouraging. >> and we want to go to joe stapleton right now in our traffic-tracker watching all this. >> yeah. route 495 southbound, right at route 85 and milford with this tractor/trailer fully involved in flames. a huge back-up in the section of the roadway, as well. not reports of any injuries. certainly slowing down.
5:08 pm
the road, as well. so route 495 both directions here at 85 in milford. joe tape stapleton, 7news. a tight shot on the scene as we watch firefighters battle this and this is 495 south but i imagine that smoke is drifting across and that is probably, you know, a concern to drivers. how bad is it going the other direction, the 495 route? yeah, a combination of the smoke and also the curiosity delays here, as well. so it's been very sluggish actually in both directions. certainly a good place to avoid either way you're going. >> and looking at pictures right now, we saw the cab of the truck. what's off to the right there, what's that on fire at this point? we're trying also to figure out what that is and the firefighter that you see in the middle part of your screen is trying to work on the ring of fire we were talking about earlier off the side of the screen right there. >> how would you like to be going in that mess and not really know what's in that truck
5:09 pm
you've got the mess on the side of the road and whatever they're doing, the strategy that they put into the fire, something that removes or made in their fight, but now you see several -- at least a couple of firetrucks there and also an ambulance. and as we said, we don't know about the condition of the driver but it does appear that he pulled off to the road so hopefully he was able to escape the cab in there somewhere. if you look at the side of the trailer, it says paper, paper. i'm not familiar with, that but that sounds like a company name and would indicate perhaps that there is paper inside of that trailer and of course that's something that's not like a hazardous situation concerned about toxic fumes or anything but something that would burn fairly quickly and easily. >> all right, we'll keep an eye on those pictures and keep you updated for the entire evening here on 7news. well, the patriots have taken a number of hits this season. >> i think we come this far only to come this far.
5:10 pm

5:11 pm
but it's been a long 12 months he between deflategate and a loss of key players on offense. through it all, he's responded. >> it's a challenge in a lot of ways for a lot of people and i think i'm always up for the >> reporter: he's dealt with plenty of challenges last off season and brady was asked if he noticed the immediate aia reaction to report hgh shipments were sent to manning house. in contrast in the allegations against brady and deflategate trauma. >> i don't know anything about that. i just try to do my best to help our team win. i think that's what my goal is. and i think coming this far is only to come this far. so we still got further to go. brady once again showing us just how focused he is. danny amendola telling under the circumstances today that tom brady is one of the most mentally tough teammates he's ever played with. live at gillette stadium, alex
