one that i'm holding in my happened right now. >> reporter: the joint committee on public safety and homeland security heard testimony on a boston state rep's bill. which would require imitation gun manufacturers to build at least a one inch bright orange strip in their products. >> the federally mandated orange tip on toy guns is not enough in today's world. >> reporter: the state representative says he filed the bill in response to the tragic death of a boy in cleveland last november. tamir rice was shot by police as he held a fog gun. boston's commissioner said his officer confiscated 174 fake guns like this in 2015. >> we had someone pull a gun and there is a lot of drama on the streets because of the fake guns. >> reporter: the mayor got a citiard nance passed which mans people from carrying imitation weapons in public.

victoria warren has more dire situation. >> reporter: an urgent call for help from three saugus firefighters who were home. >> reporter: the fire spread so quickly the firefighters found themselves surrounded by flames and thick smoke. one firefighter tripped and of air. >> they blew the air horns the building. firefighter saw a hand of one of the saugus firefighters reach out for help. >> he broke the window. i seen his hand. i reached in and i said, brother give me your happened. he grabbed my hand and basically started pulling him out. >> reporter: two other firefighters were helped down the stairs. >> if we didn't grab them there wasn't anyone else coming in enough time. we're able to get to them. >> reporter: a woman in her 80s, her daughter and adult granddaughter were staying in the home and able

>> everyone got out safe. the family, and the no one was hurt. >> reporter: the family says things can be replaced. people cannot. the saugus fire chief says he witnessed true heros in action. >> i would say the firefighters on scene saved the lives of my men. >> i won't want to think if about would have happened if i didn't see his hand. >> reporter: three firefighters who were trapped suffered minor injuries. the house is a complete loss and will be torn down. the women who were in the house heard a boom shortly before the fire started. the chief in saugus confirmed that the fire started in the basement but he has not yet said what the exact cause is. in saugus, victoria warren, 7 news. >> ryan: more news today, peoples in burns oregon venting frustrations with the ongoing occupation of a national wildlife refuge. 300 people discuss the armed occupation. people want the protestors

provincetown at 30. wellfleet and truro nearly 40. saturday much the same. a few pockets of drizzle and maybe a little bit of freezing drizzle early in the day on saturday but nothing significant or wide spread. near 40 on saturday. here is our next weather system. it's a storm system that does have a fair amount of rain all wait up into iowa. so, it's a warm weather system. now we have seep some cold shots of air come out of canada. the pat then we've found ourselves is that this cold blub, nothing can lock it and hold it in place as the next storm comes into new england. so as this next storm comes in saturday night and the sunday there is no cold air. we're talking about rain, not snow. behind that weather system on sunday, yes, the cold does return. so your timeline a bunch of clouds for the next couple of days. rainfall mid day on sunday through the afternoon. for a short time briefly heavy most towns about an inch of rain on the way.

sealed off at this hour. expected to hear from the shortly but we know there was a chemical explosion here this afternoon. officials still don't know what exactly exploded and why it exploded. mergency responders raised to the do you chemical plant around 2:30 this afternoon. after a chemical explosion in a laboratory. >> there was a small explosion. we transported four people. couple of them have also been air lifted into boston. at this time we're waiting for the haz-mat team to clear the scene for us so worry we're still real active. >> reporter: local and state emergency responders arriving on the scene. other employees were put on a school bus to keep warm. we spoke to one of them. >> just an explosion. that's it. >> reporter: where were you? >> i was in my room. >> reporter: was it a loud bang? >> it was a loud bang.
