police make a disturbing found at an apartment. children living in filth. reporter: they're upset. character for the mother. we were allowed inside this ourselves. dirty. reporter: a grandmother in tears after her daughter, 24-year-old sheila was arrested on friday and her grandchildren were taken away. woman: we've lived together. she's a sweetheart.

reporter: her and another woman at this apartment were under police surveillance. when the police pd vice squad searched it, they found three children living in conditions that were deplorable. the floors were covered with fee feces. woman: they trashed all the kids clothes. everything. reporter: police found pills, our drugs and cash. the police were placed into custody. the two women were arrested. woman: i came over here to see what was going on with the kids. reporter: now this family, with help from friends, is cleaning up the apartment in hopes of getting the kids back. woman: i'm going to take good of care them and god blesses them wherever they are. reporter: they've never seen her living in conditions like

for now, we're live in whistler. we're following breaking news. one person killed after a shooing and stabbing at a motorcycle expo in colorado. police say 9 other people were either stabbed or shot. no word on their conditions. right now, police are still searching for suspects. also breaking, two prisoners on the run in california are back behind bars tonight. officials say that a third man escaped from the california prison last friday. the third prisoner turned himself in on friday. the sky with a beautiful glow over marble head this evening. take a look at these pictures here. the sun is setting later and later every day. if you're a fan of this january thaw, how about a preview of spring.

investigators think the car drove on to the sidewalk and hit a telephone pole. the cause is still under investigation. a man hit a parked car on fenmo street just before 6 a.m. you can see the damage here. his car rolled over in the middle of the street. he was taken to the hospital injuries. police are searching for suspects after a woman is robbed at knife point in a parking lot. the woman says the robbers took everything she had and ran away. now they need your help tracking them down. kelly is live now with more on this. reporter: good evening. you know it was a rough day for a woman when she found a car got towed and then when she went back to her apartment, she was robbed at knife point. this all happened yesterday morning at the jefferson hill apartments. a woman went out to the parking lot to find her car gone.

when she went back into the apartment, two men approached her at knife point and took all her belongings. she's freaked out. woman: you never worry about something with our family. it's just -- man: definitely. if you hear something like this happening here, you definitely get scared. reporter: now police say people reported seeing these men earlier in the week in these parking lot. they're asking people to be aware of their surroundings and lock up your car and watch your back. several cases of hot wheels have new hampshire police searching for a suspect. a thief has been breaking into cars, stealing items, and then setting the cars on fire.

the side of the door as well. detectives received nine calls today after cars went up in flames. investigators are hoping the public can help track down whoever is behind the crimes. two teenagers are in custody tonight in connection with a deadly shooting. the alleged 17-year-old gunman shot and killed a 19-year-old near this ridge earlier this month. the suspects will be arraigned on murder charges on monday. a dangerous discovery this morning. officers arrested two people yelling and pointing a gun at a passing car. one suspect was carrying the gun and the other suspect had a taser and cocaine. both were arrested. searching for an inmate on the run in new hampshire. he signed out of his transitional house but never came back. anyone with any information is

we are following more news today. more trouble for those suffering from the water crisis in michigan. the water filters given to residents are just not doing the job and cannot clean the highly toxic water. epa officials say water at more than a dozen homes in flint, michigan had lead readings more than 20 time the normal. woman: we want to stress that this does not mean that there's a problem with the filter. >> officials will retest the water this week to check for accuracy. disney world is facing a lawsuit after a deadly encounter with a snake. an alabama family is suing the park after their son was bitten by a snake in 2014. the boy was okay but the bite scared the grandmother so bad

mild pattern holding for us to wrap up the month of january february. tomorrow. and rain on the way for wednesday. not snow, just rain. you can be a snow lover and then also a lover of mild temperatures but it's kind of split down the middle, at least as far as the opinions go. i think we can all get on board with this. we're gaining daylight and within the next four weeks more than an hour of daylight gained. this will help. how about the way we're going to kick off february? these are my forecast highs as we head into this next workweek and you can compare that to last year.

above 40 degrees until we made it in the begin of march last year. no snow in my forecast, at least for the next five or six days. just wait until we get into next weekend, winter is not written off just yet. current temperatures, mid to upper 30s for us. 38 for boston. and a bit of breeze. well, it is out of the south south west, that's going to usher in milder air but it might make it feel a touch chillier out there overnight tonight. we have partly cloudy skies tonight. a weak disturbance to the north. we won't see any snow out of that one. it's dragging in milder air for us. south west breeze sticks around. 30-40 degrees for our lows tomorrow morning. and then tomorrow, ten degrees added to our temps for today. we could make it into the low 50s for some locations. it is warm air.

and just north of that front, look at chicago, 43 degrees. we're going to usher in some of that milder air as we get through the next couple of days. it's a parade of storms to our west. they pump in the warm fronts and then monday night, we might pop in showers monday night. bright sunshine for tuesday. touch cooler for us. wednesday, another warm front but it comes along with an inch of rain. colder temperatures to set in after that. takes a while for them to really settle in but they'll be with us next weekend. highs tomorrow, nearing 50 degrees for many spots. where as the cold is not far off from us. don't write off winter. this is the mildest week of the month of february. we're back to seasonable levels next weekend. and friday, 30s for the highs. watching for a coastal storm for friday as well. the ground hog may see the
