of problems with a lot of heavy snow across the midwest. >> the storm is moving over the plains into the upper midwest as we head into the afternoon and into tonight. all these areas in red are under blizzard warnings from nebraska up to southern minnesota and travel is being affected. lots of snow, winds, limited visibility and in pink, you can see these are winter storm warnings and this shade of purple are less severe winter weather advisories. as far as snow totals, by the time these areas are all said and done, they could see up to a foot of snow in up to southern minnesota and then up to 18 inches of snow in parts of kansas and nebraska. so a lot of snowfall. and then also severe weather is a threat from the gulf coast up to the ohio river valley into the great lakes region with the greatest risk for severe weather in mississippi, alabama, tennessee, today they could even see some tornados. this storm is moving towards us

for the impact it will have for you and i, back to you. >> we will get a half inch to an inch across the area. this is mostly north of 495. the morning commute will be dry for the most part. i think the afternoon commute, especially north and west of boston is a different story as we see steady rain stretching throughout much of the metro area, southern new hampshire. this will continue into the evening. we will also kick in the strong winds out of the south. that drags into the mild air. late into the day and the evening hours. about a half inch to an inch of rain, widespread and the wind will be gusty in the evening out of the south, southwest. occasionally gusting close to 35 to 40 miles per hour and it's dragging in the mild air. the record high in boston, 59 degrees. if we do come close to it, probably wouldn't happen to about 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 in the evening.

with this storm and the rush of mild air holds off until the end of the day. thursday, still a mild day, starting off near 50 degrees. well cool down to seasonal level ones friday. overall the weekend looking dry. there is a potential by early next week, monday night, tuesday, to track a storm, but until then it looks dry for the weekend. >> thank you, a little girl sending a simple and sweet message to her local police
