news at 11:00. forecast. we are kicking offer march with some sun. but chilly changes on the way. mother nature could be mixing it up for us. a storm headed our way. meteorologist rob eicher standing by with the forecast. >> 20 degrees cooler than this time yesterday. earlier gusty winds have calmed down. we are expecting it to stay dry through the point when the polls close. no excuse not to get out and to vote. beginning at 8:00, a winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of the area. but really more worried about the time period between about midnight and 4:00 a.m. and mostly for the worcester hills, the higher terrain of the berkshires. that is about it. not expecting any problems whatsoever inside 128. the leading edge of the rain headed our way jt now getting to ohio. but some of the high, thin clouds streeping this way already. earlier sunshine giving way to those clouds. temperatures for a high this afternoon, low 40's at best. a couple of degrees warmer than what we have out there now. rain moves in tonight.

way coming up in a few minutes. >> kris: friends, family, and fellow officers saying a heartfelt final farewell to fallen officer ashley guindon. her funeral is happening right in woodbridge, virginia. the virginia police officer and new hampshire native was shot and killed during her very first shift on duty. the service is open to the public. in fact, people were lining up to pay their respects. you see this here. well before the funeral even began. ashley guindon was killed saturday while responding to a domestic violence call. the suspect is now facing capital murder charges. police officers from her hometown in merrimack, new hampshire are among those paying their respects in virginia today. >> it is such a tragedy. not only because she was a law enforcement officer but because there is a close connection here in town. >> it doesn't matter if it is a police officer here locally, regionally, or across the country. a little peels of us dies with every police officer killed in the line of duty.

today in virginia, her body will be brought back to massachusetts where she will be buried next to her father in springfield. >> sarah: two roman catholic bishops in pennsylvania helped cover up a sexual abuse of hundreds of children. the abuse involved more than 50 priests or religious leaders over a 40-year period. the report was based partly on evidence from a secret archive. the grand jury was especially critical of bishops james hogan who died in 2005 and joseph atimak who retired in 20 11. no criminal charges are being filed. some abusers have died. in some cases, the statute of limitation has expired or the victims are too traumatized to testify. >> kris: new information and now police looking for a robber who targeted a convenience store in malden. we have some surveillance video for you to take a look at. look at. this the man is robbing the store right on florence street. and he is holding a hypodermic needle as he struggles with that clerk who is trying to defend himself.

with a baseball bat. he still has not been tracked down. officials did also release this still photo of the suspect pretty clear shot of his face. they say he did not have his face covered when he first went in to rob that steer. we are told he got away with some cash from the cash register. >> you know who this guy is, you are asked to call police. we have a breaking story now. some information just coming into the newsroom out of cambridge. harvard university has now confirmed that there are two cases of the mumps on campus. school officials say that one undergraduate student and a graduate student from the divinity school are both affected with the mumps. right now the school is working closely with the cambridge public health department and the massachusetts department of public health to help monitor this situation. health officials do say that accommodations are being made on campus to help minimize any other exposures to the mumps. >> sarah: coming up at noon, police in california trying to track down a kidnapping suspect after a bizarre police chase.

we need help! drop the gun! show your hands! >> sarah: the video shows officers responding to a shooting on february 12. they say they found one suspect dragging along another man who was limping. police say that suspect had a gun and when he wouldn't listen to orders to drop it, that's when they were forced to fire. that suspect died in the shooting. the district attorney is now investigating. >> kris: new dethals noon on a hit-and-run that happened in worcester. police found the car that hit two people. they are still trying to find the driver of the vehicle. they say the license plate was switched on the car. authorities did find a man and a woman lying in the road sunday afternoon. the man had been released from the hospital. the woman, though, is in serious but stable condition. big bust in chelsea, landing a man behind bars. 58-year-old wayne clark is facing several drug charges now. officers arrested him saturday afternoon following a

they say he had packages of narcotics, including crack cocaine and heroin ready for sale when they found him. detectives say he has been arrested five times for selling drugs since 2013. >> sarah: a gus goes up in flames in san francisco. the intense fire breaking out at a gas station. the gas fueling the inferno as passengers try and escape the smoke. the fire quickly spreading to the canopy. now, the bus company is looking into what sparked the flames. with the bus on fire, the flames reached to the roof of the gas station. and the black smoke took over. this absolutely frightened people passing by. >> somebody kept saying that the gas tank blows up underneath, the whole block could go. that was pretty much on my mind. i just got out of there. >> everybody needs to back up! let's go! >> >> reporter: at first people were told to keep back from the fire. watch here when one of the explosions happens. a firefighter gets blown backwards. >> burning. just burning.

smoke. >> reporter: once firefighters put the fire out, the damage was clear. the fire department says the driver of the bus parked at a pump and got out when he saw smoke coming from the engine and went inside the gas station store to call his boss. that is when people inside saw the fire and called for help. >> we seen it from out here. i told the customers get out. get out of here. thinking that the place might explode. so that was more... we were more worried about the explosion than the fire itself. >> reporter: no passengers on fire. the fire so intense, several gas pumps and even the lettering on the signs melted. the bus driver didn't want to talk about how this bus ended up like this. the people who work at the gas station were able to quickly turn off the gas pump, likely stopping the entire building from exploding. >> kris: straight ahead at noon, a team in rhode island thought they had a win wrapped

1976. our high temperatures today, a cry from that. generally, low to mid-40's. in other words, only a couple of degrees warmer than our current temperatures out there right now. keep in mind, this closer to normal low 40's is pretty average for the early part of march. right now, on the radar, nothing showing up just yet. satellite indicating some clouds. that would be the gray cover starting to slide in here. mainly high, thin clouds. those clouds will thicken up a little bit as we head into the evening hours. this is what we are watching. that batch of rain around cincinnati. the yellow and orange indicating heavier rain. that is headed our way late tonight into tomorrow. and again, kind of like last week's storm, a rumble of question. not expecting the widespread week. but rumble of thunder not out of the question early tomorrow morning. in the meantime, could begin as some mixed precipitation for the worcester hills. parts of the berks. the pink would be the mix. the green would be all rain. that again, little to no accumulation of snow or ice expected whatsoever.

the higher terrain possible. that becomes all rain as we head into tomorrow morning. rain and gusty winds. now, clear out tomorrow afternoon. thursday looks okay. then we are already watching our next system. this is one that is going to work its way up the u.s. east coast. green areas indicate areas likely to see precipitation. you see it gets awfully close to us. mainly, the cape and the islands. as we head into friday afternoon. at this point, it would be cold enough that any precipitation that falls would likely fall as snow. we are going to have to watch this track very closely. drastic change in the forecast for friday. the other story is the cold weather moving in here. strong northwesterly winds will usher in a more winter-like weather over the next couple of days. with more on that, here is danielle. >> danielle: thanks, rob. yeah. we dealt with the strong winds last week. this morning and we will see them again tomorrow morning. overnight, they are picking up by 8:30 tomorrow morning. those wind guferss out of the south could get up to 50-55 miles per hour. it is going to be very windy out there for your morning commute.

notice the direction of the winds will shift. they will be out of the northwest. by thursday morning. and this is what's going to help bring in some cool air as we head into the second part of the workweek. notice tomorrow morning, we will reach our high temperatures early in the day. and then from here, it is all downhill. you can see that cool air moving in by thursday morning. temperatures are in the 20's. then we also have that wind. that means it is feeling even cooler out there. feeling like the single digits at 7:00 a.m. into the teens by 10:00 a.m. then thursday, high temperatures only going to feel like they are reaching the low to mid-20's. we will have this cool air and then we are watching that storm. and for more on that, rob, back to you. >> yeah. hard to believe, danielle. going from 64 yesterday to single-digit windchills thursday morning. stays cool friday morning. waking up to temperatures in the teens. low 30's at best friday afternoon. again, we are concerned about the possibility of some snow. if that storm track stays same, it would mainly be flurries. some snow showers at best for
