na >> anchor: now at noon, police in rockport asking for the public's help. they want to talk to the man seen in these survalance pictures. this is 7 news at noon. >> sarah: rockport police are calling the man a person of interest in the case of a woman who was attacked. jennifer eagan live now with the very latest. >> reporter: and sarah, that woman is okay. her alleged attacker got away. now police here in rockport have identified a man they say could have been following her before the attack.

a woman out for a walk on the street in rockport, suddenly attacked. >> she was taken from behind. knocked to the ground. >> reporter: rockport's police chief says it happened wednesday night just after 9:00 on pools lane. the victim, a woman in her early 50's. >> the individual did grab at her khloeing. there was no sexual assault involved in this attack. it was strictly an assault and battery on her. she received some scrapes from hitting the ground. and she was shaken. >> it makes you s somebody else. >> reporter: someone heard the woman's screams and called 911. the alleged attacker got away. police have picked this man out of surveillance video from a nearby store. >> the individual matches the description to a degree that was provided by the victim. and was seen in the area following similar paths of travel that the victim walked during this incident.

cameras can catch him. you know, i mean, hope there is justice. >> reporter: now they try to bring this case to a close. >> this is an incident that is uncommon in our community. it is something obviously, we don't tolerate. we are seeking the community's help. >> reporter: the man in those photos is a person of interest at this point. anyone with any information is asked to contact police. we are live in rockport, 7 news. mississippi are searching for a killer. two nuns are found stabbed to death inside their home. one of them, a massachusetts native. police found the bodies of the two nuns on thursday. officers say there were signs of a break-in, and the nuns' car was missing. that car was found late thursday about an hour from their home. those close to victims say they are shocked by the news. >> they were loved by everyone. here in lexington and also in durant.

such a senseless homicide. they came here to mississippi to outreach to the poor, using their medical services. >> sarah: both nuns were nurse practitioners. the clinic where they worked will be closed today allowing coworkers time to grieve. again, one of those nuns is a native of stoneham. nicole oliverio spoke with her sister who is heart-broken. >> a mississippi community devastated over the brutal murder of two catholic nuns that pain reaching right here in massachusetts. one of the victims, sister paula grew up in stoneham where her sister and other family members still live. >> she was a wonderful, wonderful human being. she worked very hard for the people who needed help. >> reporter: she and sister margaret worked in a mississippi clinic. seen here in one of their you tube videos.

and uninsured patients get the medicine they needed. they would administer flu and insulin shots. sister paula moved down south more than 30 years ago when she felt her calling. >> she had a wonderful impact on the people. every year, they used to do back-packs for the schoolkids. they would have a little raffle. rorpt when the nuns didn't show up to work, police went to the home they shared. officers found women murdered from an apparent stack. they need the prayers more than we do at this point in time. >> reporter: her sister says she can only remain positive. >> she is up there. >> reporter: because of her faith in god. >> if i didn't believe that there was a reason and that there would be a greater good to come from this, it would be very difficult. >> reporter: rosemary is also devastated after speaking with the doctor at the clinic where her sister worked. there is fears they won't be able to reopen because both sister paula and sister

>> anchor: now turning to the forecast. here is a live look outside. fast warm and muggy start to your friday. a little bit hazy there. let's go to danielle for a first look at the weather. >> danielle: thanks. kind of yucky outside. temperatures in the low to mid-8's. 84 in boston right now. 8 along the cape. 80 in worcester. those dew points are in the 70's. it is muggy and cloudy. as you just saw. we are watching spotty showers down massachusetts. we will continue to watch the chance for showers. even the possibility for a thunderstorm as we head into this afternoon. 2:00 into 3:00, 4:00, even heading into 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. getting close to dinnertime, we have the threat to see some showers. it is hot. we have the soupy air mass in place. we could even see some downpours out of this as well. as this front pushes offshore tonight, we are clearing out. the rest of the weekend is actually looking really good. this afternoon it's hot. temperatures around 90 degrees. it is also muggy.

>> sarah: police in michigan say a co-pilot of a plane was drunk and that his blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit to drive car. police were tipped off by the captain of the plane who said it was clear that his co-pilot was intoxicated. >> at that point in time, the sergeant was able to detect a strong odor of intoxicant. slurred speech. blood shot, watery eyes. tests were administered which indicated a level of intoxication. >> sarah: police have not released the name of the suspect. he is from florida and will be arraigned next week. a boy is recovering after being pulled from a chelmsford pool. this happened at a home on gorham street thursday afternoon. people pulled the four-year-old out of the pool after he went underwater. the child was flown to a boston hospital by helicopter. >> anchor: more news today. two people facing serious charges in connection with a deadly stabbing in new

police say a 21-year-old luis rampial class was involved in the triple stabbing that left a 15-year-old boy dead and two others wounded outside of a housing project on wednesday night. a 16-year-old boy was also charged in connection with the crime. police say the stabbing happened after a big fight broke out, involving a gang from a difference housing project. the two people who were wounded in the stabbing are expected to be okay. it appears that parents and school have the former student pay for his defense lawyer in a high-profile sexual assault case. according to the "globe" and documents filed in the victim's lawsuit against st. paul's prep school, parents chipped in more than $100,000 for owen la brie's defensela. brie was convicted of mvpd sexual assault and sentenced to a year in jail. >> sarah: now the race for the white house. a new poll showing hillary clinton ahead of donald trump

clinton favored by 51% of voters. trump is at 41%. the assistant director of this poll says this election might turn out to be a land-slide for clinton. meanwhile, both candidates going on the attack. donald trump visiting new england on thursday: hillary clinton speaking at a rally in nevada. >> donald trump visiting new hampshire on thursday. putting race front and center. accusing his opponent hillary clinton of name-calling. >> she paints dt you, as racists. >> no! >> reporter: trump says a vote for clinton is a vote for democratic policy that is have failed inner-city minorities. >> she doesn't have one idea that does anything but destroy jobs for african-americans, and hispanic-americans and all americans in our country. it is going to be a disaster.

crumpled buildings in central italy. they were already damaged by the quake. firefighters and rescue crews are still working to find survivors in the rubble. here is drone footage of that that shows the destruction from up above. you can see the extensive damage to those buildings. three towns in italy have been leveled. with the aftershocks, more buildings could still be destroyed. and brazilian police have formally charged the u.s. olympic swimmer ryan lochte will falsely crime. lochte initially said he and three other swimmers were robbed at gunpoint at a gas station in rio. since then, he has admitted he has overexaggerated the story. the 12-time olympic medalist will be summoned to rio. he doesn't have to appear in court and can opt to send a lawyer instead. >> sarah: coming up on 7 news at noon, police in east boston tracking down this person of interest. the specific case they wanted to talk to her about. >> anchor: a court controversy: a new england

down across southeast massachusetts. we will continue to watch this threat for showers and storms throughout the day today. to our north, this is where some of the heavier rain is. as it is moving offshore it is really losing steam. for today, showers will be hit or miss. some of you see them. some of you don't. eyes to the skies this afternoon. with the soupy air mass in place, as you can see, looking ahead at the timeline, some of these showers could be heavy in nature. we could see downpours. pretty much all the way into dinnertime. thente front will push offshore. we are totally clearing out for the weekend. the weekend is looking really good after we just get past this little bump in the road for your friday. if you have plans tonight, it is going to be muggy out there. as i was mentioning, the front moves offshore. very, very mild air behind this. it will be a lot less humid. also, as we head into the weekend, temperatures along the coastline will be cooler. we will have the on-shore wind in place. near 80 along the coast.

the last one of august. can you believe it? sunday into monday, we will start to watch this front. storm-free for saturday. and sunday. then we will keep an eye on the threat for some of those showers as we head into next week. the good news, we are going to drop those dew points down into the upper 50's and low 60's. for the weekend. they are in the 70's today. not feeling very nice out there. we have also been keeping an eye on the atlantic. we have been keeping an eye on this tropical wave for the past couple of days. weakened, actually. we still have to watch it. down south of florida. the track is really interesting. because it does look like it will bring some torrential rain to south florida. then as it continues moving here into the gulf of mexico, it could strengthen as it moves over this warmer water. something to keep an eye on. no threat, though, to us here at home. if you are getting away this weekend, good for you. enjoy it. down along the cape, a nice weekend. temperatures saturday and sunday, in the upper 70's. low 80's.

against transgender community. report t law passed there earlier this year. it restricts transgender people from using public bathrooms based on their gender identity. the uvm athletic director says the decision to cancel the game came after conversations with the university staff and athlete. >> our student athletes are a sensitive group. they understand the values. they chose to come to the university of vermont for a reason. so i think they understood. >> reporter: the school out of state. but in the end, decided to cancel it. it is a move the vermont governor peter shumlin applauded. >> i want to thank president sullivan and the board for having the courage to say, listen, if we don't all stand up to policies that discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation, we are going to lose this battle. >> shumlin imposed a travel ban to north carolina shortly

>> sarah: this video taken by a local student right after an explosion. the blast was leak. a by string of events at an airfield in nebraska lands fast man in police custody. police say the man jumped a security fence, stripped down to his underwear, then stole a truck and rammed it into a parked plane. authorities say the man was also screaming that people were trying to kill him. there were passengers boarding that plane, but thankfully, no one was seriously injured. >> anchor: more people

world to find a vaccine. >> sarah: some key discoveries being made right here in boston. jejer if eagan has more. >> the lab at beth israel deaconess medical center. researchers are racing to find a zika vaccine. >> this is where we can do a variety of different antibody tests. >> reporter: in just six months, they ever made real progress. >> the vaccinated animals showed no detectable virus in the bloodstream or anywhere else in the body. 100% effective in these animal models. which was a stunning finding. >> reporter: transmitted by mosquito and sexual contact, the zika virus is spreading rapidly through south america and into the caribbean. most recently reaching miami and tampa. it has been linked to a condition called microcephaly which causes severe birth defects. researchers at this boston lab are working in partnership with the team at the walter reeled army institute of research in maryland. the team in maryland is developings a more traditional

today not the best day. we are seeing some rain already. the good news. we will make up for it tomorrow and sunday. that is the good news there. keeping an eye on the satellite and radar. we are starting to see some showers down towards the cape moving from buzzards bay up to sandwich. and this is what it is going to be throughout the rest of the afternoon. hit or miss showers. some storms fbs. some you see them. others don't. notice the temperatures. they are very warm in the mid-80's. they will crawl into the upper 80's and get close to 90. our dew points not a moist, muggy air mass in place. we are watching a front. as they collide, we will see some storms firing up this afternoon. i think if you are heading out to fenway, though, for the game, go red sox. mid-80's. it will be humid. i think the storm activity will wind down by then. and the great news as we head into saturday and sunday, storm-free, cooler along the coastline. temperatures very pleasant. in the 80's. back to you guys. >> sarah: new details today about a murder in east boston.

boston police were looking for this woman. they even asked for the public's help in identifying her. police say the investigation is still ongoing. investigators found a woman dead in a parking garage on princeton street back in june. police say she died from traumatic injuries. investigators are still trying to figure out why an 18-year-old was killed. a 16-year-old from east boston has been charged with the murder. investigators are still searching for the cause of this huge fire that destroyed several buildings in lawrence. the city's mayor says he had been trying to get the obstruction of justicer of the vacant building where the fire started to tear it down for quite some time. on wednesday, a day before the fire, a judge ruled that the building must be torn down by next week. a 911 operator in connecticut is off the job today as police investigate how she handled a call. it all started when a woman who was delivering chinese

her coworker called 911. because of a language barrier, they had trouble communicating with the operator. after confusion about the location of the incident, the operator is heard saying "i don't care what you are driving. and the officers are there. you might as well talk to them now." the incident remains under investigation. a cohasset attorney who was behind the wheel during a deadly crash in brockton is now facing charges. police say a 66-year-old walking outside of the brockton district courthouse back in june. according to investigators, the s.u.v. hit the victim after traveling about 200 feet in reverse. she is being charged with vehicular homicide. a former new hampshire state trooper pleads guilty. the trooper seen here beating a man who led police on a high-speed chase back in may. that chase ended in nashua. the 50-year-old driver

the former trooper andrew monaco apologized to the court and local authorities. but he did not apologize to the victim. monaco will not face jail time if he saves the out of trouble for three years. he can no longer serve as a law enforcement officer. >> sarah: a pharmaceutical company coming under fire after the price of epipen skyrockets almost 400%. those who need the life-saving device are calling for a price cut. while the c.e.o. stands by her decision. she may be the most unpopular seeios in america. she runs mylan pharmaceuticals which has raised the price for its life-saving epipen from $90 to $600 over the past ten years. meanwhile, her compensation has also skyrocketed. >> you are making $18 million a year. do you understand how that looks? >> brian, look, i understand better than anyone that facts
