daughter before she was born and that she treated her very poorly from up point on, calling her stupid. >> brielle didn't have a lot of family and we certainly -- we kind of became a surrogate famiy for her. >> she did not take the stand. >> firefighters spent hours putting out a fire on main stret up damaged a room four businesses there. more than a dozen people left without a place to live. a firefighter sent to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. no one else was hurt. >> they came many and told me that i had to get out. investigators are looking into weather arson could be to blame. the red cross is helping familis displaced by these fires. >> the home in lawrence going up in flames overnight. three people are left homeless. this was the scene out on

problem with one nearby hydrant complicating efforts to put the fire out. >> a building catches fire. you can see the flames and smoke pouring out of the roof. one firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. the cause is unknown, but officials say it looks suspicios because the building is vacant and the mill does not have any power. >> an lgbt newspaper in salem hs a new box after someone blew up the other one. >> this is people in town and people at the newspaper gathered in town last night for unveiling. >> police say a group of 7 peope put explosives in the old one late monday night. this surveillance video captured the whole thing, and you can see there people gathered around, then they run as it explode. last night the editor of the paper spoke about today's unveiling and all the community support. >> love truly does conquer hate.

a female. >> aldridge's mother spoke about the confusion and the anguish felt by the children she leesbug hundred. >> they want their mom and it just hurts to hear kids saying they want their mom and their mm won't be in their lives anymore. >> and her mother also spoke wih compassion about the suspects. >> i forgive them. i forgive them. i can't bring them back. but i forgive them and i pray to god up they pray to god to ask for forgivene f done. >> christa delcamp, 7news. >> passenger panic at one of america's busiest airport after reports of an active shooter. turn out it was a false alarm. this all happened at lax. you can see the chaos up ensued after a loud noise was mistaken for gunshots in at least three terminals there. some passengers even went on to the tarmac. the massive evacuation shut down the airport for more than an hour, causing a gridlock on the runway and on the roads there.

over looking in the tennessee area rounds out the top three. what a perfect day to be out shopping, eating, whatever you want to do, because it's perfect out. >> it's been a great summer. barely any rain, and i can't believe it's almost over. >> yeah. you know what? the no rain thing is great for vacationers, but we know we really need it. we are watching the tropics, however limited rain chances for us here in new england. we do have a shower o wednesday into thursday. let's talking about the tropics, though. hurricane gaston, a category 2 storm with 105 mile-per-hour winds. it's not a problem for us, however it will increase the swells and the waves along our coastline and increase the risk for rip currents as we head to the beach the next few days, so something to keep in mind. we're also tracking tropical depression 8 and 9 as you can se down here in the gulf. we'll talk about td8 up because

ocean but has no real direct impact in new england as we wath the tropical storm once it strength he know into -- a similar story for td9 down in te gulf of mexico. but you see the track taking it through the southeastern united states, through northern florida and then through southern carolinas as well as northern carolinas still as a tropical storm. so we'll have to watch this very clel damaging winds as we head throuh the next few days, but for the third time, again, no direct impact here. unfortunately not going to get any of the tropical moisture, at least we're not expecting to out of either of those systems. our next chance will be wednesdy into thursday as i mentioned, ad it's due to, yes, another front. and our front last night was a little disappointing, so we're hoping we can squeeze out a little more rain from this one. possibly an isolated storm as we move into wednesday afternoon,

manages to stall out over the area into thursday morning, then it could manage to squeak out a few more raindrops. it doesn't look like a lot at this pointed, but we'll cross or fingers and take every chance we can get. unfortunately this front or maye that is the good news, is going to also push whatever is left of td8 that's what's showing up hee in this forecast model out to sea, so, again, it's not going o be an issue for us. the jetstream through today, to the north of us and if it's p separation between the colder ar to the north and the warmer air to the south, look what's happening as we head into the ed of the week. up front that i mentioned, wednesday into thursday, usherig in a cooler air mass as we head into labor day weekend and it is a bit of a fall like feel to the air for us. though fall is just not up far off, we only have two more days until we switch up calendar to the month of september.
