florida. since then, it's been downgraded to a tropical storm but florida's northern coast also got hit with powerful winds and driving rain and the storm has paid a visit to georgia. i think it's in the carolinas. this is the first are hurricane to hit florida in 11 years. >> anchor: the storm is headed toward the coast to georgia and carolinas. jeremy reiner has been tracking the storm closely. he joins you now with new advisory. is thatcorrect? the the tropical storm status winds at 50 miles per hour moving through south carolina at this time against here you go the latest advisory 5:00 p.m. advisory maximum sustained win at 50 miles per hour. rotting off to the northeast at 25 miles per hour but that is going to change as we work through the weekend and central pressure down to 993 millibars. so the latest forecast track hasn't changed all that much. it's still difficult forecast east of the delmar peninsula.

mile-per-hour winds and underneath it there will be a lot of warm water. the gulf stream loaded with warm water and those tropical systems they feed off that warm ocean water and so the hurricane center thinks it's actually going to go back into hurricane category early next week, meanwhile wobbling to the north and the east high pressure in northern new england does not give ground and so this red line still not indicating it's coming right up into southern new england meaning we will likely still be on the fringe of tropical system late in the holiday weekend and early next week. you can see here wobbling around again i think a couple of pieces that moisture will kind of come anythinging off like a bicycle tire just kind of out of control and some of that wind and rain energy does come up into southern new england. so the potential for winds to gust between 25 and 35 miles per hour boston south shore sunday evening into monday morning with a highest gust down along the south coast and cape 35 to 45 miles per hour and then you head farther north winds only gusting

intensified and so did the warning from florida governor rick scott. put this in perspective. this is life-threatening. we have a hurricane. hermine a category one hurricane with sustained winds of 80 miles per hour gusts even stronger made landfall overnight in the big ben region of florida's gulf coast. the first hurricane to hit the state in more continue a decade. technically this is the first one that we've had as far as hurricane and then we have people that's ne and so it's new to people. >> anchor: those in and around the strike point, the storm surge pushed water into places it's not supposed to go. on shore hermine continues to churn. flooding an issue inland and growing concern about the potential for tornadoes and widespread power outages as the system cuts across the east coast. and hermine is expected to continue its path of destruction up the eastern seaboard through the holiday weekend. of course we're still

stabbed on a garage on princeton street in east boston. police got their first break in the case when they arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with the murder in july. then last week police released these surveillance images of another woman in connection with the case and asked the public to help identify her. police say they found her, questioned her and then released her. they say it was pat of the puzzle. finally this morning, ramos was arrested. police say fingerprints from both suspects were found at the crime sc suspects were scene on surveillance video near the crime scene at the time of the murder. the victim's family members looked on in court. defense attorney robert griffin says he tried to keep ramos out of view of the tv camera because of identity issues. he plead not guilty and had nothing further to say. >> anchor: angel ramos is being held without bail and 16-year-old jose hernandez who is being tried as an adult is also being held without bail as

boston, i'm byron barnett, 7 news. >> anchor: also on 7, a driver under arrest accused in an alarming assault on a passenger. it happened earlier this week and today that driver appeared in court. >> anchor: this is just the latest in a string of negative events involving uber drivers in our area. steve cooper live in dorchester with details on this case. steve? disturbing allegations and by the way this is the third time this week alone that an uber driver is in trouble with the around here extremely concerned. you said you didn't do it, right? it was a mistake? >> reporter: charges with racing a female passenger michael vadrine makes a beeline for it from the courthouse after pleading in the during his arraignment. two counts of rape. >> reporter: the 32-year-old was arrested by boston police who say early wednesday morning near ross road in dorchester he sexually assaulted a woman who called for an uber to drive her home. prosecutors who wanted the father of a six-year-old to be

the victim didn't know him. these parties prior to this instance were unknown to one another. >> reporter: his arrest follows the arrest of several other uber drivers this summer in the boston area including two this week alone. one man from everett, the other man was an uber driver from malden. the incidents led the mayor of everett to fire off a scathing letter demanding a meeting with the ceo of uber to discuss their screening process for hiring drivers. according to told police he admitted to having sex with a woman but he claims it was consensual. outside the courthouse, we tried to ask him about that. what do you want to say about charges? did you do it or not? hell no. >> reporter: uber released a statement saying we are fully cooperating with boston police and will continue to work closely with them to help provide any information useful in this case. >> reporter: he was released on personal regular agonessance
