toddler in hamilton, pleading guilty to all charges today. 7's brandon gunnoe has more from the courthouse in salem. brandon in adam, in her last court appearance, she appeared too -- 22-year-old abigail hannh broke down in court and pled guilty to kidnapping and touring a toddler. police say last november hannah kidnapped the toddler from her home in the middle of the night, shaved her head, burned her with cigarettes and left her naked on the side of the road. she was spotted by a couple who saw her in a pile of leaves 8 miles from the little girl's home in south hamilton.

hannah was sentenced to five to 7 years in prison and 10 years probation after her release. >> child's family had asked for privacy and said they wanted to thank first responders and the couple up saved their little gil and said she is recovering as well. >> we're live in salem, massachusetts, brandon gunnoe, 7news. >> turning to the two officers shot in east boston. investigators still pulling crucial clues from the home nearly two days after the

byron burnt live in east boston to bring us more on the latest developments. >> yeah, nearly two days after the shootout, police -- it looks like they're getting ready to wrap things up here at the crime scene here on gladstone street. you can see a couple of police officers, couple of firefighters down there now in front of the house. but they have removed the police tape and some neighbors are beig allowed to walk into the area. the investigation of continues and right now the immediate focus remains on the two injured officers. >> investigators removing severl bags of evidence from the east boston home where two boston police officers were critically wounded wednesday night. >> i spoke to the commissioner this morning and we had a -- a very complicated conversation trying to figure out what exacty could have been a motive, where this man was coming from. you know, up hasn't been established yet. >> gunfire inside the home on gladstone street.

over the thermostat. police say when officers went inside, 33-year-old kirk figuera who was wearing a bullet proof vest opened fire on officers, rick cintolo and matt morris, shootings each of them multiple times. figueroa was then shot and killd by police. >> we don't know what sparked it and i think as they continue to investigate and trying to i'm assuming family and extended family they'll get a clearer picture of actually who police officers >> figueroa was a constable in boston. he had no criminal history in massachusetts but had been arrested for crimes in georgia. the officers were back in surgey again today, but listed in critical, but stable condition. >> obviously every day you getaway from the incident is a positive step. >> back here live you can see a couple of police officers in front of the house there. as we said they are wrapping up

gladstone street to essentially the area of the incident that happened on wednesday night. as byron mentioned they are wrapping up the crime scene and taking down the police tape to finally open up gladstone street ask they will have up vigil, a candlelight vigil up in the parking lot of the madonna queen of the universe statue up there. i spoke with the commissioner a short time ago as he arrived hee for this evening vigil. he said the support from the community has overwhelming. to have people show up last nigt there's been a lot of support in the community. what's it been low country? >> it was very comforting. i was here last night and mayor walsh and the community really gave a lot of support to the police, which is very important, you know. a lot of their community knows richie and up and we're all pulling for them. >> when i spoke with the

kelly ayotte's supporting big, corporate special interests. she's not working for us. dscc is responsible for the content of this advertising. >> a month's long investigation under covers a medical mistake t st. vincent's hospital in worcester. we learned a surgeon removed the wrong kidney from a patient. >> this happened back in july. tonight new details on what led up to the mix up. >> st. vincent hospital in worcester being reprimanded aftr 7news up reported a surgeon thee removed a kidney from the wrong patient in july. now a new report from the massachusetts department of public health laying out details about just what happened. the report says the decision to remove a kidney from the one patient was based on the test results of a different patients.

and who had ct scans on the same name and the birth dates were just a few years apart. as a result the hospital has ben forced to adopt a plan to make sure patients receive care in a safe setting. >> the hospital will have to renot force the need for two patient identifiers, review information technology and correct imaging studies if if needed for surgery. in response to the investigatio, tenant health which owns st. vincent hospital says, quote, we are working to implement enhancd safeguar a cms survey, including additional verification steps with physicians. this is a deeply unfortunate situation and we will take all steps necessary to prevent it from happening again. the department of health says they will continue to monitor te hospital through unannounced inspections to make sure they're complying with the new plan. if they don't take corrective action in a timely manner, their eligibility to participate in medicare and medicaid programs could be terminated.
