road. state troopers urging drivers to take it easy. slow down. it's coal. it's soggy out there. >> anchor: we have rain moving through our area tonight. get over to chief meteorologist jeremy reiner for our forecast. that looks like a lot of snow. >> reporter: you've got more snow to the berkshires. highest elevations in the stir bridge elevation 6 hundred feet. worster though at the airport colder pockets of air stuck in southern new england. stir bridge for example you'll hold on to the wet snow for a few hours. warm air is going to win. now this warm coloring right here the yellows and the oranges that's the radar detecting snow flakes mixing in with the rain. it essentially is a rain storm.

got on her police radio and said i don't think he expected to see me. a boston police officer stands guard at the city of boston credit union. site of a brazen attempted bank robbery this afternoon just before 4:00. it was foiled by another boston police officer who had been on a routine detail inside the bank. >> i did see her when i walked past. it didn't seem like anything was wrong when i walk that's when i saw the police. >> that was right when it happened. >> it had to have been. >> probably right when you walked by. >> that's so scary. to have him have a gun or whatever. that's nerve racking. >> reporter: that female officer saw the masked man come in and surprised to hear the man demand she surrender her weapon. employees had no comment as they left the building.

>> reporter: police say the suspect took off in a small red car. a police captain in the area helped identify that suspect. an arrest was made outside an italian restaurant called tony's place. >> i seen the cop take a gun out and pull the guy out of the car. maybe the wrong guy or something like that. >> reporter: police say they found a bag dropped apparently by that attempted bank robber union. no money inside. one police source tells me the detail officer laughed when she was asked to hand over her weapon. jonathan hall 7 news. >> now on 7 a crash ignites a deadly inferno. >> i heard a big loud bang. it burst into flames. >> investigators left with burning questions. ; trying to figure out how this happened. that car flipped over.

dan hausle now with the latest. >> oh, my god. somebody's in there. >> reporter: a helpless feeling workers at a nearby car dealership who came running at the sound of this fiery crash. >> all of a sudden i heard a loud bang. i looked over my left shoulder and i saw the tires up in the air. as soon as the car hit the ground it burst into flames. >> reporter: one of his coworkers grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to help. >> tried to extinguish the flames. the exam tinguisher ran out. so we thought that we should probably try to smash out a window. so jerry took the extinguisher smashed into the back window. >> reporter: it was before noon when they heard about a car driving fast and erratically about a block away. hit a fire hydrant and a curb

going until the end of january. i think we're going to see more cold and snow november december than what we have seen the previous 2 winters. with that said we move on. rain and wind tonight. pockets of cold air in worcester county. where we have the snow flakes flying. milder by the weekend. temperatures back in the 50s for afternoon highs. radar showing precipitation and as ak doppler radar does a great job of showing where the rain is. does a pretty good job of showing where the rain and snow is. there are stubborn pockets of cold air. leicester air as well as stir bridge. we have snow happening at this time. at the higher elevations. as you head east. it is rain. this warm coloring right here that's not tropical downpours

flakes with the rain drops. the technical term is bright banding. up in the clouds it's cold right now. this is where we have snow this afternoon. heath 3.5 inches of snow. windsor an inch. springfield don't have to be in the berkshires. the earliest inch of snow for the city of boston october 29th 2005. too rm even in the worcester hills chilly pockets of air. a southeast wind will work on the chilly air mass and dislodge it. you don't hear this term often. it's not a nor'easter. it's a sou easter. your storm time line rain, downpours, perhaps even thunderstorms along the south
