trouble. >> anchor: the impact triggering a chain reaction crash on a busy stretch of comavenue. >> anchor: the driver and fire fighters rushed to the hospital with injuries. 2 of the fire fighters are at home. steve cooper beginning our team 7 coverage. >> seeing the whole thing happen is surreal. i don't even oh, yeah. >> reporter: before noon time today when a man driving this red chevrole ton fire truck. 4 fire fighters on board was headed to a call when the crash happened. >> the fire truck ended up swerving and hitting the cars on the side of the road right there. >> reporter: sent the fire truck barreling off the road ending up on 2 wheels before plowing into 2 suvs. chain reaction crash with 8 other cars on comavenue.

>> reporter: where their injuries are described as not life threatening. >> doesn't appear anyone was in the wrong here. i don't want to mislead anybody. it doesn't appear that way. thankfully no one was seriously injured. >> reporter: a team of tow truck operators worked to peel away the wreckage and remove the mess. an accident reconstruction team moments. >> i hope that you know that they're all safe. >> i'm glad everybody especially the fire fighters and him he's all set. >> reporter: cameras at this intersection. boston police investigators are hoping to get a look at them as they continue their investigation into this crash. steve cooper 7 news. >> anchor: witnesses say they heard the impact of the fire truck and the car. the collision is raising crash questions.

coverage. he is live at the scene. alex. >> reporter: adam, here on comave plenty of people on a monday a week day. this is where the fire truck ended up taking out a tree. people along the ave heard it all. as the fire truck race down the street. >> i saw the fire engine coming down comave. >> reportelo window. >> we heard this not an explosion but a loud bang. and looked out the window and the fire truck was up where it's at right now. >> reporter: the fire truck ended up striking a row of parked cars. no one was in them and no one happened to be on the sidewalks. >> heard a crunch as i was walking into the office. so we walked in. we were looking out the window.

us. >> reporter: not all fun and game for one mbta worker who was pulled from a trolley late saturday night and beaten by a man in a full halloween costume. moments after a vicious attack a man in a michael myers halloween costume is seen running from the stop. the man in the mask told the trolley operator he didn't have enough money top pay the fair. he pu the face. the suspect pulled the worker off the trolley and continued to beat him. the suspect ran away. he was caught on video. unfortunately it will be tough to identify him seeing he was in full costume on halloween weekend. passengers riding the trolley say they're surprised by the incident but still feel safe. >> scary. talked to one of the drivers this morning. i guess the guy tried to get out

he attacked the driver. this is a very safe neighborhood. >> reporter: that mbta driver was hospitalized after the incident. we're told he is back at home recovering now. that's the latest live from dorchester tim caputo 7 news. >> anchor: we have more news this evening a teen tragedy in local after a friday night house party turns deadly. he was hurt at a party in lowell. he bumped into 18-year-old joseph sagarela at that party. the suspect's guardians say there's more to the story. >> i know that there's other kids involved and i hope that justice on that side. >> we don't know the whole case. we haven't really talked to joe. we got to get back and talk to

with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. now that the teen has died those charges are expected to be upgraded. >> anchor: sober charges after a hit and run crash in salem. the 52-year-old was driving drunk when he hit a mother and twin daughters last night. all victims were rushed to nearby hospitals. he's charged wife drunk driving leaving the scene of the accident. and not stopping for pedestrians in a cross walk. this happened last night in salem. his attorney disagrees saying mitchell turned himself in and told police he was behind the wheel. >> unfortunately it was an accident that happened. there's no evidence that the vehicle was swerving. no evidence like that. >> anchor: mitchell is out on bail now ordered not to drink by a judge. he failed a field sobriety test 3 times. >> anchor: a gas leak causing trouble in government center.

tremont and port streets after 8 this morning. dozens of people had to be evacuated because gas levels became too high in a number of buildings. that led to traffic troubles. it was 8:00 so the morning commute. work crews spent hours capping the leak. no one was hurt. the exact cause of the leak still under investigation. >> anchor: the patriots shaking things up. jamie collins is shipping foxborough. the by week is off to a busy busy start for bill belichick. >> anchor: this block buster deal is catching much of patriots nation off guard. >> reporter: dating back to the off season the patriots had 4 star players on defense. they would need to take care of as free agents by the end of the season. now they trade jamie collins to cleveland in the middle of the season when they are the favorites to win the super bowl.

>> anchor: smooth sailing on the mass pike. commuters getting by during t first round of toll booth demolition. they are the first to try the rush hour commute since the state rolled out electronic easy pass system over the weekend. >> anchor: has it been an easy ride on the pike? live in weston with more. so far so good, brandon. >> reporter: adam and kim, it has been an easy ride. the traffic might be like what we've seen in a snow storm. certainly nothing like that.

these are the center tolls in westin where they've already been removed. sky 7 hd over the morning commute on the pike. the first week day demolition was taking place during the commute. >> it was super easy today. it was straight forward. there was no traffic. i don't know what was happening today. i thought it was a holiday or something. >> reporter: many the warnings. >> it could change and could get worse i guess. >> reporter: crews will be tearing down the center booths as the pike goes to electronic tolling. drivers will travel in the outside lanes. for phase 2 traffic will flow through the center lanes. >> i did leave earlier and i was surprised to see that there was not a lot of traffic.

>> reporter: crews tore down the center booths and started paving the center lanes. >> the big goal for us is to have as much of this work done as we can by the time we come to the part of november when people start making plans toward thanksgiving. >> reporter: already half of the old toll booths on the pike have been demolished. they are ahead of schedule. >> anchor: you can see at the bottom of the degrees it's a chilly night out there. we don't have a blanket of cloud itself seems. ; we're trick or treating tonight. temperatures going to get colder right, bri. >> reporter: waking up tomorrow morning on the first of november you might need a heavy jacket before you head out the door. maybe a heavy coat. it does get mild by midweek. the ups and downs of temperatures typical for this time of year.

relatively speaking that's quite mild. talking low 40s. 40 degrees in worcester. it will drop to the upper 30s quickly here. when you don't have a cloud cover there there's nothing to keep that day time heating in near the surface. it gets chilly overnight. light winds 26 to 38 by tomorrow morning. it is going to feel like quintessential fall day tomorrow. yes upper 20s. mid 20s in the coldest spots. 25 for a low in jaffrey. 27 in nashua. 29, 28 degrees towards norwood as well. so the bus stop will need the heavy coat for sun rise at 7:18. then it warms up to the mid 50s for most of us tomorrow which is average for this time of year. here's that boost in temperatures i was talking about for midweek.

not out of the question for wednesday and thursday. late thursday our next chance for rain fall. it comes along with a cold front. milder temperatures coming in and then we swoop through bringing in much colder air behind that front t. gets breezy for us. it is safe to say we can wrap up the month of october. not expecting rain fall today. this was a decent month for us. more than an inch and a half above average. that an above average month since february in the precipitation department. we're 9 inches below average for this time of year so far. 5 days until we fall back an hour with the clock. what does that mean for your day. make sure you tick the clock back or rely on the phone to do it for you. we get an earlier sun rise which is good news and earlier
