19:03:11--23 'i could either help or i could watch and i wasnt really wiling to watch to see how that was gonna unfold they put their lives on the line to save another. tonight, the man they rescued is sharing his heartfelt thanks.. good evening and thank you for joining us. i'm erin kiernan... and i'm dan winters. 58 year old rick rauzi fell through the ice into the deep waters of lake ahquabi sunday morning. it took 20 minutes for nearby fisherman to hear his frantic cries for help. channel 13's jannay towne caught near death experience... rauzi was released from the hospital today.. he still doesn't have feeling in his fingertips and is all scraped up and bruised, but says doctors are amazed at how well he's doing after being exposed to the freezing water for

on a snowy sunday, weekend photographer rick rauzi was drawn to the call of the wild.. nats of geese as he snowshoed out onto the ice to capture the geese on lake ahquabi... he heard an unmistakable shattering sound. 03:11:13 the whole area just collapsed and i went right down over my head. it was not a slow sink. i went down instantaneously and came up and you know, had my initial extreme panic 27 once that passed, rauzi began yelling for his life. but as the minutes ticked by... he began to realize no one could hear or see him in the water. 03:12:54 i said goodbye to my wife, said goodbye to my kids said i didn't want to die two ice fishermen made sure he didn't die. after finally hearing his calls for help, they used a canoe to get close enough to throw him a lifeline. at first, rauzi didnt want to grab the rope.. 03:13:26 i was afraid to let go of the ice because i'd gone down twice. i slipped off twice and went down over my head and the last time i did it, i knew if i did it again, i didn't think i'd

despicable crime. deputies accuse him of sexually abusing his infant child. deputies were notified of an alleged assault on a two - month - old earlier this month... they investigated, then arrested 30 - year - old justin stickrod... he's charged with child endangerment and first degree sex abuse. he's being held in the county jail on a 68 thousand dollar cash bond. university of iowa police are looking for a man who they say videotaped a student showering... it happened last night, in a women's restroom at burge residence hall. an officer responded to the scene and found the man hiding in a stall... that's when police say a fight broke out between the two, ending with the suspect getting away. they say there is no immediate threat, but crews will change burge's restroom locks to be safe. this is the fifth report of sexual misconduct reported by the university in recent weeks. urbandale police are searching for a teenager in connection with a police involved shooting... they just issued a material witness warrant for 17 year old kiara olson of

they believe she has information about the shooting at this holiday inn along merle hay road. it happened after a fight broke out in the lobby saturday morning, and ali yahia showed a gun. police exchanged gunfire with yahia, and he was killed. three officers are on paid administrative leave. sac county deputies want your help finding a man charged with attempted murder... 36 year old jeremy werneburg is accused of intentionally hitting a man with his vehicle sunday night. it happened in carnarvon, but deputies say he has ties to ida grove, humboldt, carroll, and wall lake. the victim is hospitalized with serious injuries. the iowa supreme court is taking up the wrongful death case of a former rockstar... paul gray of "slipknot" died from an overdose in 20-10. his family claimed doctor daniel baldi over prescribed pain medications to him. baldi was cleared of any wrongdoing but gray's widow is now appealing the decision. arguments will be heard in a special supreme court session tonight. it

the state is scheduled to transition to a privately managed medicaid system two weeks from today. ...and today lawmakers want to know if the state is ready. iowa's medicaid program serves they said systems weren't ready at that point. the new transition date is march first. today, lawmakers questioned the medicaid director about what still needs to be done. mikki stier addressed 16 action items the federal government identified as necessary,for the switch to happen... 'we do believe we have met the 16 items and they are completed two of them are being monitored right now with cms and that is our network as it continues to grow and the implementation of the training and support that we providing to the case management organizations and with our mcos to ensure the smooth transition with case management as we go live march 1st.'

department of human services agrees the systems are in place for a switch to privatization, but some of the members at today's senate committee hearing were skeptical. some iowa state students are celebrating an anniversary by getting back to work. "students helping our peers," known as "shop" opened five years ago to this month. it's a food pantry run out of the university's "food science" building... it has 230 volunteers and serves between 60 and 90 students a week. currently it's hosting a campus wide food drive to stock its shelves. the goal is to combat campus hunger and encourage those who need help to get it... i think just making it comfortable for anyone to come. we're completely anonymous. that's a huge part of who we are. no needs assessment is required or anything, as long as its students and faculty anyone can come in and take what they need. the "shop" really needs soup, granola bars, and toiletries. the "shop" really needs soup,
