mentioned, hillary clinton was also invited to visit mexico. she says she's looking forward to meeting with mexico's president but her campaign put out this statement about trump's trip, saying what ultimately matters is what donald trump says to voters in arizona, not mexico, and whether he remains committed to the splitting up of families and deportation of millions. >> yeah, tom, they've hit on the key question for the speech tonight in arizona. trump was a bit inconsistent last week talking about the deportation and there is still a tussle inside his camp about what he's going to say. >> reporter: that's right, i spoke to a senior aide this morning. here's what we know, he's still going call for a physical wall on the southern border and call for an e-verify system with employers and roll back anything regarding executive actions. when i asked about the undocumented immigrants they're leaving that up to mr. trump. they want people to tune in to the speech. >> let's talk about it with matthew dowd. donald trump, full of surprises. this trip to mexico. i think this is the definition of high risk, high reward. >> absolutely. i remember my own trips across
7:05 am
high risk, high reward when you see it. it is a smart move. if successful and he comes out of it i don't think he'll have the president put the wall on layaway when he leaves there but, if he's successful he comes across and voters say, even though he says all this stuff and he's erratic, he actually can be a leader. >> if he's well received. >> good photo-op. >> the risk, what does the mexican president say? >> that's going to be a huge question. morning showing some surprising slump for hillary clinton. her unfavorable numbers, let's show it, 59% basically on a par now with donald trump. >> these two candidates, i mean, her numbers have basically gone right back to where they were before the convention. right back. these are the two most disliked candidates we've ever seen. it's as if the voters are given this choice. you have to drive across the country. you have a twice between a 25-year-oldsmobile with no air-conditioning and only goes 30 miles an hour or private
7:06 am
and whose landing gear may not work and that's the choice the voters have. >> not much of a choice. there were a couple of elections, primary elections. john mccain, marco rubio, both in the senate, both have been outspoken about their differences with donald trump, not saying -- even though they still say they'll support him. both beat back challengers. >> trump mini-mes. i think john mccain's was way closer. marco rubio won in a very big landslide but both have contested races in a general election that they both could lose in the course of this because of these primary fights. >> it will be interesting to see how they play off over the next two months. matt dowd, thanks very much. all right, george, thanks so much. now to that major tropical threat the waters off florida facing a tropical storm warning as that depression in the atlantic threatens the gulf coast and hawaii now facing two hurricanes. ginger has her hands full not only with adrian behind the
7:07 am
>> so let's go ahead and get straight to it. tropical depression 9 finally becoming organized. that storm we've been following and following. it should become a tropical storm later today. that's why we have a hurricane watch for the waters. tropical storm warning from north of tampa to tallahassee all the way to panama city. the timing of this is important. it is later thursday, through the morning of friday. for the landfall of this storm. so we're watching the track there take it. the impacts would be five to ten inches of rain, 15 inches max. two to four feet of storm surge in some spots and ou tropical storm-force winds, then we go to the pacific, why we have so much going on. madeline churning, lester churning. that's why we have our neal karlinsky there on hurricane warning this morning. >> reporter: ginger, good morning. we've already been getting hit with intermittent rain and you can see they started boarding up the buildings in hilo, hawaii,
7:08 am
hawaiian islands and they are expecting possibly 25-foot wave, torrential waves, high winds and flooding here as a result. the timing is a little tricky. they think later today into tomorrow morning and, as a result, they've shut down all of the schools here today and also closed the port here in hilo, and making matters worse as you say yet another hurricane lester is right on its heels. that would be unprecedented if that hits in a couple of days, two of them here in hawaii. >> neal, i have friends on the g evacuated from their hotel moving to a new hotel on a different island and that's why. you can see again the timing, it's late tonight through early tomorrow and that's when you'll feel the impacts. lester comes late week through the weekend so busy now and we'll be busy later. a lot more coming up. amy and george. >> i would have never guessed they hadn't been hit before by hurricanes. >> and now almost twice. a big development in the fight against isis. with the group's website announcing the death of its top leader, martha raddatz tracking
7:09 am
>> he was one of the founders of isis, george, a central figure in the organization who was not only a spokesman for the terrorist group but the man responsible for organizing attacks against westerners. he is tied to the deadly attacks in paris and brussels and he is the man who called out to lone wolves worldwide urging isis sympathizers to take up whatever weapons they could find -- knife, rocks, vehicles against kill them wherever they are. the u.s. confirms al adnani was the intended target of a precision air strike in syria and it was, as you say, the islamic state that announced his death. >> we've seen so many attacks like this against the leaders of isis and the leaders of al qaeda, as well. the big question is ouch difference do they make? >> well, the u.s. had put a $5 million price tag on his head. he was the number two in the organization, that's how important the u.s. viewed his role so it is very significant but there will no doubt be someone who moves to take his place and we've seen in the past
7:10 am
inspire attacks even after they're long gone, george. >> okay, martha raddatz, thanks. all right, now to that dangerous air scare. a flight taking off from texas encountering severe turbulence overnight forced to make an emergency landing in ireland. passengers rushed to the hospital and abc's david kerley has the latest now from reagan national airport. good morning, david. >> reporter: good morning, amy. that jet was nearing the british isles when it hit this unexpected turbulence injuring several passengers and cre now, this flight originated in houston. it was on a boeing 767. 223 people on board. it was supposed to be a direct flight to london but the flight tracking site flight aware shows that several hundred miles out the jet hits turbulence and the pilot calls out to head to shannon airport to make an emergency landing in ireland. on the ground emergency crews were waiting. a lot of people were treated. a dozen people, nine adults and three children, amy, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
7:11 am
conditions of those injured? >> reporter: yeah, actually they were pretty minor injuries and 11 of them were released and authorities in ireland were getting them back to the airport so they could get on the plane and make that hop from shannon to heathrow and finish the flight. we're going to get the latest now on maine's governor paul lepage is under pressure over comments many called racist, also a voice mail filled of his critics in the legislature and seemed to suggest he might resign then backtracked. abc's david wright is here with the latest. >> reporter: good morning, george. some mixed messages for sure. today lepage is due to meet with the democratic lawmaker he challenged to a duel. no duel expected but you never know. under fire for his racially charged rhetoric, the maine governor gave a radio interview in which he did not rule out resigning. >> i'm looking at all options. i'm not going to say that i'm not going to finish it.
7:12 am
to finish it. >> reporter: then, just as his critics started to celebrate, he dumped the twitter equivalent of cold water tweeting, to paraphrase mark twain the reports of my little demise are greatly exaggerated. the governor who is a favorite of donald trump's. >> he is a very talented guy. he's also a great person. >> reporter: -- made a series of racially charged remarks. >> black people come up the highway and they kill mainers. >> reporter: blamieo people. >> half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave. >> reporter: after democratic lawmaker called lepage out, -- >> i didn't call him a racist. >> reporter: the governor left him an expletive-laden voice mail. >> i want you to prove that i'm a racist. i have spent my life helping black people and you little [ expletive ] socialist [ expletive ]. >> reporter: and threatened him to a duel. >> i'd point it right between
7:13 am
snot-nose little runt. >> reporter: on the radio the governor was contrite about his remarks toward that lawmaker. today they meet and lepage is expected to offer apologies. >> they're taking that hamilton thing way too seriously. now to new york's hudson river, a commuter ferry slamming into a group of kayakers throwing some of them into the river, critically injuring two. abc's gio benitez is on the scene with the latest. good morning, gio. >> reporter: amy, good morning to you. in the summer people love to kayak on the hudson river to watch that sunset. watch nightfall. but this time, it was a true nightmare. >> i have a severe laceration to the left arm of this male. >> reporter: this morning, investigators trying to figure out what led to the collision course between ten kayakers and a water taxi. >> everyone going to the

nine kayakers and a guide headed south on new york's famous hudson river when the calm turned into chaos. >> we heard screaming in front of our vessel and noticed people flagging us down and waving. >> reporter: a ferry slamming into the kayaking group. >> got another victim here with a head injury. >> reporter: the water taxi impacted two of the kayaks and multiple people went into the water. >> reporter: you can see the ferry right here after it hit the kayakers. rescuers rushing into the water. five kayakers hospitalized. two critically injured. this woman suffering a head injury. >> can you tell us what happened? >> reporter: the tour guide the most seriously hurt. >> we noticed that there were lacerations to his arm. i started triage on him to stabilize his neck and spine. >> reporter: the kayakers all wearing life vests as required by the kayak tour company. initial reports say the captain said that sun glare prevented him from seeing the group. and this morning we're told the ferry's captain has been tested for drugs and alcohol.
7:15 am
appears to be a terrible accident. amy and george. >> gio, thanks so much. well, now to frightening moments at a gas station in connecticut. take a look as a driver backs into one of the pumps knocking it over and then sparking a fire that quickly engulfs two vehicles, one of the cars had two children in the backseat. a woman on the other side of the pump quickly ran in and was able to pull the kids to safety just in time. they were not injured. the driver who backed into the pump apparently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake so anotheun thankfully, everyone got out okay. >> could have been so much worse. could have been a huge explosion. u.s. open, triumphant return to new york for serena williams. big win for her. t.j. holmes here with more. >> yes, you know, all eyes are always on serena but especially this time because, what, she just came off that loss, that shocking loss in rio. three weeks ago and she just pulled out of a tournament last week because of a shoulder

winning all four major titles in a calendar year. this year she suffered a string of setbacks. >> there it is. >> reporter: that shocking third round loss at the olympics and withdrawing from a tournament last week with a shoulder injury but if she wins this year in the big apple she'll add more history and more hardware to an already unbelievable career. so, on the line this week at the u.s. open she could have the longest streak ever for being at number one, she could have the most wins ever matches by a woman in tennis history and 23 grand slamle every swing of the racket there's history and everybody capitalizing on this, a way to waste time at work, i'm going to show you one. they've come out now, this snapchat game now to where you can play all -- >> snapchat game. >> yes, you can play all of the grand slam finals that she's >> so you lose every time. >> you win every time. >> i thought you were playing against serena. >> no, who wants to play against serena. >> not me. >> you can play as serena.

we've seen him before, he's had his heart broken twice. a lot are surprised. chris harrison will join us -- >> you weren't surprised, george? we'll have much more on that coming up. but we begin with the latest on chris brown. the singer arrested after an hours-long standoff with los angeles police accused of assault with a deadly weapon after a woman claimed he pointed a gun at her in his home. abc's kayna whitworth spoke with her and is in los angeles with all the latest. good morning, kayna. >> reporter: amy, good morning. baylee curran tells me that she originally went to the singer's house which you can see right there lit up behind me to see if she could perhaps star in his next music video but, as the night went on according to her brown's behavior became more erratic and she ended up running for her life leaving from the backyard. overnight, singer chris brown arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. and now the woman behind it all is speaking out. >> terrified. absolutely terrified. >> reporter: 25-year-old baylee curran telling abc news brown
7:32 am
at his los angeles mansion. >> i didn't want anything to escalate more. because, hello, he's holding a gun to me. >> reporter: curran says the hours-long standoff began when someone brought over a box of expensive diamond jewelry which she says she admired. >> and i was just standing over admiring it not touching it and then one of chris' friends said, back away from the diamonds, and that's when chris came in and said i'm so sick of all of you people. took the gun out like this. put itmy the "f" out. >> did you think he would pull the trigger? >> i thought he was going to shoot me. >> reporter: the los angeles police department receiving the frantic 911 call at 3:00 a.m. tuesday morning. >> two females unknown crying and asking for help. >> reporter: police surrounding the star's home trying to make contact with him while the singer took to instagram posting his claims of innocence. >> when you get the warrant or whatever you need to do you're going to walk right up in here
7:33 am
you idiots. >> reporter: hours later brown and several of his friends funneling out of the house and searched by police. this isn't the singer's first run-in with the law. in 2009 brown pleaded guilty to felony assault and was sentenced to five years' probation, a year-long domestic violence class and six months community service for assaulting his then-girlfriend superstar rihanna. brown completed that probation early last year. overnight, brown's attorney tweeting, thank you to everyone for their support and well wishes. chris is out and well. the allegations against him are demonstrably false. brown was released after posting $250,000 bail. now, we've also learned overnight that curran is wanted for questioning in new york in a grand larceny case. according to the new york police department, she and a friend are accused of stealing a wallet from another woman. amy. >> all right.
7:34 am
joining us now, abc news senior legal correspondent sunny hostin. sunny, there is a lot to weed through here. how bad does this look for chris brown? >> well, it certainly looks bad, amy, because we are now seeing what seems to be a history of violent and abusive behavior starting with the 2009 assault on rihanna. he did serve many, many years of probation, approximately six years, that probation was lifted in march of 2015 just last year but only after he violated that probation for assaulting someone in a washington, d.c., hotel in 2014. and so we're seeing this over and over and over again when it comes to chris brown and that is not a good place to be in the criminal justice system. we see recidivism very, very often when it comes to violent and abusive behavior so yet now another complaint about this kind of behavior is going to be looked at very, very closely by prosecutors reviewing the case. >> and speaking of seeing chris brown we saw a lot of him throughout this on these instagram rants.
7:35 am
from a legal perspective what do they do to the case? >> you know, i think prosecutors are going to look at it. let's be clear. he hasn't been formally charged yet. his arraignment is going to be september 20th. i did reach out to his attorney my good friend mark geragos, who says these allegations are completely false. but i think that it's very fascinating that social media is possibly going to be used as evidence in this case or at least reviewed by prosecutor, not only did chris brown the alleged nd ray j. was also in the home and he posted on instagram saying this was false then the alleged victim also posted on instagram indicating that this was true. and so, you know, i think we're seeing over and over again the clash between technology and social media and the law and that being used as evidence. we saw it very, very clearly in
7:36 am
just came out and everyone got to see what was happening at the same time. >> yeah, but, of course, everything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. sunny hostin, thanks so much. we are going to move on now to that stunning shooting in a new york suburb. it happened minutes from hillary clinton's home by a doctor that used to work for him. good morning, eva. looking for revenge goes after his former boss. police say they think he came to a chappaqua diner with a purpose -- to shoot someone. it's the upscale town known for its idyllic setting and two famous resident, a former president and a presidential hopeful. but on monday morning chappaqua, new york, became the scene of a dramatice shootout less than a mile away from the clinton family home, a popular and beloved dean at new york's mt. sinai medical school shot in broad daylight along with an innocent bystander.
7:37 am
suspect was still on the scene was taken into custody without incident. >> reporter: 49-year-old hengjun chao pulling out a shotgun. police say opening fire on dr. dennis charney, the motive according to investigators likely revenge. charney was chao's former boss before the former assistant professor and researcher was fired in 2010 for misconduct. >> today's graduates -- >> reporter: charney seen here in this video, addressing graduates at a recent commencement, is expected to fully recover along with the bystander and a judge signing an order of protection banning chao from contacting the dean. chao arrested and arraigned within hours of the shooting now charged with attempted murder was reportedly seen smirking as he left the courthouse. the scene of the crime just minutes from the clinton's estate. the former first family known to be frequent patrons of the deli. in a statement to abc news, mt. sinai medical school confirming chao was terminated for cause calling the shooting extremely

>> yeah, disturbing sight. thanks very much. let's go to amy. coming up on our big board brock turner, the former stanford swimmer sparking outrage convicted of sexual assault and sentenced to jail, now set to be released friday after just three months behind bars. then could your child become a victim of identity theft? a california mom's story, a major warning to all parents. plus, astronomers detect a strong signal coming from space. is this proof there is something out there?

7:40 am
7:41 am
assaulting an unconscious victim and now set to be released from jail friday after serving half that time. sunny hostin is back and, sunny, turner getting released for good behavior but still seems surprising given the debate about his sentence. >> i don't think that it's not only surprising, i think it's outrage that people have about this sentence, george. i mean, the bottom line is he's only going to spend three months in a jail cell for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a garbage dumpster. i think we can all agree that that sentence is way too short. is it a surprise that he's only going to serve three months out of the six months? no, because in california, basically they have this prison realignment going on and so most inmates only serve half of their sentence. >> there was no discretion from the judge there on getting out early. >> no, there was discretion, the prosecutors recommended six years. he was facing 14 years but, because of the judge's discretion in this case, he only
7:42 am
this case. i think there's this legal loophole in california that now is going to be closed. >> right now they're going to try to close that, i understand lawmakers in that state just passed a new measure in hopes of addressing cases just like this one. tell us about it. >> that's right. what is remarkable is that under california law, up until this time, amy, you could rape, sexually assault an unconscious person and not have a mandatory prison sentence. the judge had a lot - discretion. now 66-0 vote, a bipartisan vote, california lawmakers have now found it's going to be a mandatory three-year sentence for this exact behavior. sending a message to sexual assault victims everywhere that they matter and that people that sexually assault must spend three years in prison when the victim is unconscious. i say very, very wonderful for california.
7:43 am
should see across the country. >> 100%. all right, sunny, thank you so much. well, now, to an alarming story about the newest victims of identity theft. children, this sacramento mom shocked to discover someone using her 15-year-old daughter's social security number to get a job. the second of her kids to have their identity stolen. becky worley is here with more on this. so, is this just something parents -- another thing parents have to worry about? how unusual. both of her children. >> i know, one more thing we have to think about. one report saying children are 51 times more likely to have their identity stolen than adults and the reason, children are a perfect target for this crime. they have a blank slate that an identity thief can use to create a new personality, a new record. and kids don't check their credit very often. it's not like my 8-year-olds are
7:44 am
at least i hope they're not. >> what can parents do? >> there's obvious red flag, george. if your kid is getting bill collection notices, tax bill due and they don't have any income obviously. or, if they get pre-approved credit offers sent to you, but kids want to check their credit. not like it is for adults. we go to annualcreditreport.com. this is one site the government says is free online. easy peasy. you try to do that for a kid. i tried to do it for my son last night. this is what i needed. all his personal information plus three copies of his birth certificate, t c three copies of my driver's license or passport. three copies of my current utility bills to prove where i live and then i have to mail that to all three separate credit -- >> six months later we will see what happens. >> a lot easier for them to steal your child's identity. wow. >> okay. thanks very much. we have a fascinating story now, from space actually. it koes this classic scene from "contact" with jodie foster who hears aliens contacting for

>> i think we get it. >> yeah, we see it on her face right there. >> she hears a little bit. not a lot. a little bit so let's bring in mike massimino. the reason we're bringing that up right now is because a group of astronomers have heard this space telescope in russia has picked up strong signals from 94 light-years away and a lot of them think this could be a sign of intelligent life in a distant galaxy. part of the galaxy. >> yeah, they're trying to figure out what it is but what's exciting this actually could be it, george. they're hopeful that it is but they have to investigate some more and, if you're going to be contacted by aliens or if we're going to contact them someday, it's probably not going to be a welcoming party showing up at the door but probably something more like you saw in the clip
7:46 am
have to figure out what it really is. >> i see you are reporting from space which is a pretty cool thing. >> yes, yes. i'm floating around. >> what will scientists do now to further investigate and it sounds like you believe this actually may be the real deal. >> well, it could be. it's a strong enough signal they can't ignore it and just write it off as noise. it might be noise but it might not be. they'll try to see if it's anything that might be obvious like signals coming from within the earth that's being -- that's just being misinterpreted as noise, or it may be something from a satellite we put up, something made by humans or maybe kids playing around in their backyard. >> can you explain what the difference is between signal and noise? a signal is something we believe is manufactured by some kind of being? >> right. right, some sort of intelligent life. something that was in our case we have radio waves, television signals that have gone out over the years and that is something that can be interpreted that is not natural phenomenon. and so that -- that's what we're
7:47 am
that's what they're going to try to determine and then they have to see where it is coming from. something from the earth, something in orbit around the earth that humans made or it is actually coming from this star which is 94 light-years away. it's a sunlight star with at least one planet around it so that's what they have to figure out. they're going to keep looking because they want to get it again. if they can get another signal from the place it gets interesting. >> communicating with us then they're smarter than us. >> almost by defio >> let's hope so, i think whoever gets there first by definition is smarter. >> what do you guys think, sunny, becky, do you guys believe? >> well -- >> totally. >> i think there's area 51, to be honest. i believe it all. >> elon musk says there's a 98% certainty we're in an alien's video game. i don't believe.
7:48 am
>> we're going to have to be really careful whether or not we believe this. we need big evidence for this one. >> all right, michael, becky, sunny, thanks for keeping it real. t.j. has that photo everyone is talking about. >> you might see a grown man cry here on "gma" and that might be me. i have been in tears and a lot of people have because of that photo you're seeing. stay with us for the story behind it. the things that i consume on a daily basis, a lot of it is very acidic. the enamel on my teeth was actually weakening. the whiteness wasn't there as much. my teeth didn't look as healthy as others. my dentist said that pronamel would help fight against that erosion so it was really important to start using the pronamel. it'll be one less thing you have to worry about. pronamel is now giving me the confidence to know that i'm doing the right thing. so it's nice to know that it's as simple as that.

>> yeah, so lupus 101 is a chronic autoimmune disease where it attacks the skin, joints, some organs. it does affect women way more than men and it tends to strike people of color. african-americans, asians, hispanics way more than caucasian whites. the overlap with anxiety and depression unclear whether the disease itself causes that or whether some of the treatments stack the deck for those things but the story behind the story here, george, is that whether it's lupus or any chronic aspects are just as significant, just as real, just as common as what's going on in the rest of the body, so it's about that mind/body connection and healing the spirit as well as the body. >> and i was surprised to see that you use chemotherapy to treat something like this. >> yeah, so the mainstay of treatment right now, because, again, this is about treating it not curing it, unfortunately, there is no cure

1,400 bucks for a sweatshirt? why? to answer that question, we head to the westfield garden state plaza and ask two of our interns to zip up. maria in the $30 hoodie and jade in the $365 hoodie asking shoppers if they could tell the difference. so, the one dead giveaway is the zip evacuate. this is blingy. this is pretty standard, so we're just going to cover that up. see these two sweatshirts. >> yes. >> one is moreen which one? >> i would say this. >> i think this is the expensive one. >> this? wrong. >> can i feel them? >> reporter: most were able to spot the blingy finishes and nice seams. >> that one, expensive. >> okay. you are correct. >> reporter: now the question, how much more expensive is this than that? >> about $20.
8:32 am
you think this one is? >> i'm not sure. >> guess. >> 50. >> $20. >> $20. $335 more for this than that. >> that's insane. >> never would i ever do that. no. >> who is buying a $365 hoodie? >> beyonce. >> she's probably on to something. >> right now in fashion we're seeing this move towards boxier silhouettes, things that are more oversized, and really we have a lot of street style stars to thank for this. >> reporter: and part of that is that we're sick of skinny jeans, contoured dresses. >> the pendulum in fashion is always swinging. one minute it's all about the most uncomfortable highest heel you could wear, and the next minute it's about the fashion sneaker. >> reporter: the price, forget about it. the trend toward comfort, i'm all in. we reached out to all high-end brands for comment. and they told us their sweatshirts are made with higher quality

brands and there's more intricate detailing, but here's the question, amy. we have three hoodies, two lovely models here. you have to guess which one costs $845. >> wait. one of them costs $845? >> one costs $305 and one costs $25. >> what? okay, wait. >> can you guess? can you guys at home guess? >> ooh. >> hmm. >> what do you think? >> 800. 300. 25. >> close. 800. >> 25. >> 305. >> i mean -- >> i can tell. there's no way i would ever spend that. but you can tell it's -- yeah. >> the detailing. can't you see it? >> yeah. >> but i mean -- i mean, we're talking about $820 difference between these two. >> this $25 one, i have to say, feels really nice. >> it's nice on the inside too. >> i want to know which one bill belichick is wearing on the sideline at all the patriot games. is it the 800 or the 25? >> nah. >> maybe this is the cutoff one.

8:42 am
we've got you covered with three gorgeous red carpet looks fit for your big day. the traditional white wedding is going red, red carpet, that is, from crop tops to shorts and even pink gowns. these days it seems bridal fashion is following hollywood's hottest trends. a wedding today is a much different event than it was in the past. >> it really is. social media has totally upped the ante. the photos you used to share with your close friends and family are out there for the entire world to see. >> reporter: we caught up with keija minor from "brides" magazine to show us how to transform three red carpet trends into wedding dress ready moments. first up, the plunging neckline. a look perfected by charlize theron at this year's oscars. >> here we have a gown by reem acra. the lace definitely makes it feel a little bit more wedding appropriate.
8:43 am
back. >> we do. this is a detachable skirt which is great so you can have that train moment during the ceremony but if you really want to, you know, dance during the reception, you can take that off. >> reporter: next the cape dress as seen on jennifer lopez at the golden globes. this is very old hollywood to me. >> it really is. this is a gown by pronovias. the cape is sort of a modern take on the train really. adds a lot of drama to the back. i love when we see it in a pared do m of embellishment. >> reporter: finally, a fresh take on the princess gown, blake lively rocking this elegant confection recently at the cannes film festival. >> wow. >> whoo. now, this gorgeous gown is by haylew paige with the illusion, the clear sleeves, the clear corset, you really have a level of sophistication that you don't necessarily think of when you think of the princess gown. >> reporter: three looks to give your fairy tale wedding a hollywood ending. they're the star of their

>> they are the star of their wedding, as they should be. >> well, now that we've seen the red carpet bridal trend, let's take a look at another trend that's sneaking down the aisle, get it? >> i like how did you that, mara. >> sneakers. remember this moment from "father of the bride"? >> hey. let's get the show on the road. >> well, it's back. wedding sneakers are back, and they are hotter than ever, and we have our own beautiful es come on out, ladies. let's take a look. >> all right. >> so this is -- we're really seeing comfort and a lot of casual wear today just in general and it's no different in bridalwear. you're seeing a lot of brides, especially millennials making the choice to do sneakers. >> the first look i can see. it's a beautiful dress but it's short so you can really show them off. >> this is a little bit of a more casual bride and you can see that these sneakers are actually customized.
8:45 am
from the designer so these were made specific to this dress. if you wanted to do something a little less customized, you can just get a great pair of sneakers. >> oh, my god. >> this bride is wearing sneaker wedges. >> it's funny because the dress is so sophisticated and beautiful and formal, but you don't see the sneakers. >> in this case -- and she's tall so she doesn't necessarily need the height either. i love the laces are blue. that's your something blue. you're covered there, and you can wear them again and again. >> you wouldn't think there were sneakers under that dress. >> surprise. this is kind of a combination of the two. so these are just, you know, regular sneakers you can buy in a store and customize them. >> it's called bedazzling. >> you can bedazzling them and channel your inner 12-year-old. but you can make it fun. >> and hit the dance floor with no blisters. >> exactly and all these dresses are available from kleinfeld's, and it just gives the bride a little secret under her dress and keeps her comfortable all day. >> mara schiavocampo, everyone is applauding you this morning. coming up next, we are announcing the cma award
