lexington county near steedman was due to a microburst and not a tornado. a microburst is a very strong gust of wind that hits the ground and spreads out. wis' mike desumma is live where the damage was reported. len here at tracy's logging company the cleanup from that damage is well underway. you can kind of see how much of an area was impacted when the force of the winds spread out. a home that sits across the

the national weather service concluded the winds from this microburst reached up to 70 miles per hour. workers here at the logging company it was around 1:30 when a heavy rain was coming down. that was then followed by the high winds that stripped roofs --- knocking debris into trees. a tractor trailer on the property was also left on it's side. several workers told me yesterday they took shelter and watched all of the destruction unfold. owners say they're just thankful no one was hurt when the storm came through. they say at this point they're still trying to determine the cost of repairing all this damage. live in leesville, mike desumma, wis news 10 the national weather service confirms that an e-f-zero tornado did touch down just north of the state farmers market in the town of pine ridge. video sent to wis shows what it looked like to the

funnel cloud moving over the west columbia area. there have been no reports of any injuries. there are new developments in the murder of a midlands teacher. it took months and a collaborative effort by law enforcement---but there's been a breakthrough in the case. jack kuenzie is in the newsroom with the details on arrests in a once unsolved killing, dating back to last summer. len, this is the case surrounding the fatal shooting of 32 year old timothy gentry at beaufort street and river drive last july. police said gentry was gunned down--shot once in the chest and found lying in the road near his home. today, columbia police chief skip holbrook says his department is holding 45 year old iban kenya patterson on charges of murder and weapons possession by a convicted felon and in commission of a violent crime. the weapon, a 9 mm handgun traced with help from atf and sled to a woman named willette wilson---accused of transferring the gun to

mogudishu. the blast blew a hole in the aircraft and left one man missing. nbc's keir simmons reports. :00 :39-:45 1:14-1:30 this morning the airline says it's aircraft was 15 minutes into the flight... still climbing... when a hole was blown in the fuselage. how it happened is still a mystery. experts tell nbc news passengers may not have survived if the plane had been at a higher altitude than 12,000 feet. officials have confirmed one passenger is missing... witnesses say he was sucked out of the plane. pictures suggest the metal or skin of the airbus 321 was blown outwards... indicating an explosion from inside. passengers describe seeing smoke "i just saw white smoke and it was a few seconds i didn't realize what it was but when we came down of course we saw a hole in the plane." in the past us bound flights have been targeted with bombs smuggled into the cabin...

begin accepting electronically filed tax returns again as early as later today. the agency said they are experiencing a "hardware failure." taxpayers can continue to send electronic returns to companies that serve as middlemen between taxpayers and the irs. but the agency says those companies have to hold on to the tax returns until the irs systems are up and running again. the uso is celebrating its 75th anniversary. in february 1941, president franklin roosevelt helped organize the united service organizations. to mark the occasion, the south carolina chapter held a cake cutting at its center in the columbia metropolitan airport. volunteers and staff greet around 7-thousand military service members every month at the airport. and uso south carolina tweeted out this picture thanking columbia mayor steve benjamin for declaring today uso awareness day. mayor benjamin is shown with susan mcpherson. happy anniversary. the richland library in blythewood is closer to

renovation designs will be revealed at a public meeting tonight. it will be the first time any improvements have been mama to the current 4- thousand in 1992. those behind the plan say two million of the 59 million dollar bond referendum the library experience in blythewood. "it's been fantastic to have the super bowl in our backyard, it certainly makes it easier. traditionally we have people off-site in hotels, sorting tickets. to have a downtown san francisco drop-off point has made it logistically easier for us." we took a trip to the stubhub office to see the operation...only a handful of people inside on this particular day.

"we have never in our history had a counterfeit ticket for the super bowl." but here's the bad news... "right now to get into the game it starts at just over $3,000. average ticket price is just under $5,000. even if that drops it won't drop below roughly 25- hundred...crazy to think the cost of getting into super bowl one was ten bucks!
