weapon down and ran from the school - taken into custody near campus. "we had what we believe is one individual enter into the school and begin firing a weapon at other students in the lunchroom. we have four students injured. we believe two of them were injured with gunshot and two of them with some other type of shrapnel-- just an injury of trying to get out of the way. the shooter then fled. the shooter has been taken into custody." shooting only matter of seconds. authorities have an idea of a shooting motive but have not released that information yet. 157 million dollars is coming to south carolina to help with flood disaster recovery efforts. the u-s department of housing and urban development -- or hud -- announced today the funds will help to meet remaining unmet housing, economic development, and infrastructure needs that resulted from thousands of homes and small businesses being damaged or destroyed by

the nearly 157 million dollars will be broken down into a few pieces. lexington county is getting about 16 million, the city of columbia is getting nearly 20 million, richland county will get almost over 23 million and the rest of the palmetto state will get the remaining nearly 97 million. crews had busy days across the midlands cleaning up three different overturned tractor trailers. one caused backups and a lane closure along dutch fork road at hiller road in chapin. we're told a load of mulch has spilled on the roadway. hazmat was also called to the scene to deal with leaking fluid from the truck. in the lugoff area an overturned logging truck blocked lanes on us-1 at sc-34. crews were forced to redirect traffic onto boulware road off 34 for a detour or i-20. we're told there are no injuries. and in orangeburg county highway patrol troopers tweeted out a picture of an overturned tanker truck this afternoon. troopers say they are investigating the overturn

lower 70s. i won't rule out a sprinkle or light shower skies turn mostly cloudy tuesday into wednesday county councilman kelvin washington. washington has been charged with felony dui after highway patrol troopers say washington was impaired when he crashed into the back of another vehicle. he bonded out of court sunday afternoon. the crash happened saturday evening on bluff road in hopkins. troopers say two men were inside the other vehicle -- one man is still in the hospital in intensive care. we are still waiting on the department of public safety to release additional details of the crash including washington's blood alcohol level. we know the name of the man killed in a crash that happened early sunday morning. the coroner says charles cobb was thrown from a car during a single car crash that happened on garners ferry road around 4:30 am. investigators say cobb was the passenger in the vehicle when it crashed and say

wearing a seatbelt. the coroner says the driver was taken to palmetto health richland and is in serious condition. the highway patrol continues to investigate. over the weekend voters in south carolina took to the polls for the state's democratic primary and gave hillary clinton a big win and big momentum heading into super tuesday. after the polls closed on saturday-- reports say she clinched the democratic primary win by a resounding margin. with all precincts reporting, clinton took 73 percent of the vote to bernie sanders, who ended up with 26 percent. more than a dozen states are up for grabs tomorrow. the primaries are nicknamed the "sec primary" because so many of those states have teams in college football's southeastern conference. they include alabama, georgia, tennessee, texas and arkansas. all presidential candidates are on the campaign trail today. governor nikki haley is turning up her push for senator marco rubio's campaign for president. in atlanta today she spoke on his behalf, literally,

voice. this comes as a new poll shows 70 percent of americans expect "the" presidential candidates will be donald trump for the republicans and hillary clinton for the democrats. scott mclean has a look at the race today. :10-:14 :35-:39 1:06-1:12 a day before super tuesday, marco rubio is giving donald trump a taste of his own medicine, calling him a con man with a spray tan and small hands. presidential candidate we are not going to allow a con-artist to take control of the party of lincoln and reagan. but the mud-slinging may be all for nothing. a new cnn/orc poll shows that trump is running away with the race with 49-percent support among republicans. rubio is not even close. looking to close the gap, rubio's schedule is packed today -- five events in four states. donald trump has only two. donald trump is poised to do something that neither mitt romney nor john mccain could do. he is poised to win on both sides of the republican's geographic and demographic divide.

tomorrow is super tuesday. and, on the democratic side, hillary clinton looks all but unstoppable coming off a big win in south carolina. heading into the super tuesday contests, clinton's popularity among african- american voters is expected to help her in the southern states. bernie sanders says he has a shot in minnesota, colorado, massachusetts, oklahoma, and vermont. presidential candidate i think you're going to see us doing, and i think the polls indicated much better among the african- american community outside of the deep south. but nationally it will be an uphill battle for sanders. clinton leads sanders 55-percent to 38-percent according to the poll. regardless of the super tuesday result, sanders insists he still has a path to the nomination. in washington, i'm scott mclean. once all the votes are counted for super tuesday, hillary clinton and bernie sanders are set to go one-on-one in another debate. it's sunday, march 6th at 8 p-m from flint, michigan. cnn's anderson cooper will be moderating. on the g-o-p side-- the candidates will meet this

honor to a navy seal who risked his life to save an american hostage. president obama placed the medal around the neck of senior chief special warfare operator edward byers, jr at the white house. he is the first living, active duty member of the navy to get the honor in four decades. byers was involved in a mission to rescue an american civilian from the taliban in afghanistan in 2012. he even gave cpr trying to save a mortally injured seal for 40 minutes after the mission. the president said today's ceremony was a rare opportunity for americans to glimpse of special breed of warrior that often serve in the shadows. "hearing english ed lept across the room and threw himself on the hostage using his own body to shield him from the bullets. another enemy fighter appeared and with his body ed kept shielding the hostage. with his bare hands ed pinned the fighter to the wall and held him until his teammates took action.

inside the state house- lawmakers head back into session

and are already anticipating another long day of filibustering. it's all about the roads bill- and will whitson takes a look at whether or not a compromise is in the works. once the week's legislative session begins on tuesday- senator lee bright has control of the senate floor again. and lawmakers have already anticipated a long week- as the senate adjourned last week- senate president pro tem hugh leatherman voted to start session earlier than usual, and allowing legislators to break for lunch before an afternoon of debate- senators tom davis and lee bright- and according to bright, at least four other lawmakers- are ready to filibuster the roads bill at length to kill the bill as it's currently written- and focus solely on dot reform and not a gas tax increase. and at least for the time being- lawmakers have seemed willing to

according to state senator john courson- that may not stop any time soon. richland "i would hope we would resolve it this week, but we may not. we've still got a little bit of time before we receive the budget. once we receive the budget, that's priority status and we cannot debate anything else save for the budget." and in the time between now and the budget- lawmakers do have the option of invoking cloture on the filibustering senators- if the senate votes for cloture- it means lawmakers can only debate for a total of 10 minutes for- and 10 minutes against- the bill and each isn't being considered. ww wis news 10 as the sec champs are celebrating their 16 and oh conference record with an event tonight. tonight the gamecock women's basketball team is holding a pep rally featuring cocky, cheerleaders and the pep band. there were 900 spots available -- but we got word today from the university that the event is now full. for those of you who can't make it we'll have latest on wis this evening. the gamecocks are preparing to open play at

tournament in the quarterfinals. tonight's celebration will officially get underway at 6:30 at the alumni center. newberry college is offering a new incentive encouraging students to pursue the career of their dreams. starting with this year's incoming freshman and transfer students, newberry's making a big promise to help students repay their student loans when they graduate. the loan repayment promise ensures graduates making less than 36-thousand dollars will get help from newberry college for their loan payments. this is a big investment by the school to bring in more students. president maurice sherrens describes the process like a life insurance policy. newberry college puts money in for each enrolled student -- and then those funds help support graduates who need a little help. "we in essence are betting on the belief that by offering something like the loan repyament promise, that we're going to have more students get involved."
