11. now at eleven... the election recount is underway in wisconsin. county clerks-- election officials-- and volunteers say they're prepared. to recount ballots by hand. here in milwaukee, they're tallying up ballots using a machine. our deandra corinthios has more on the statewide recount from the city's election commission warehouse. all of the ballots for milwaukee county have been moved to this location... they're under lock and key...and guarded...until 9 am...when the

transported from the milwaukee county courthouse to the election commission warehouse. the recount effort in milwaukee county involves more than 440-thousand ballots all together. the final decision will be made this morning by the board of canvassers, the county election commission recommends the recount be done by machine. 14 counties will use optical scanners for the recount...including waukesha and sheboygan counties 48 counties will recount the vote by hand... including ozaukee, jefferson and kenosha counties. 10 will use both - like walworth county. in our area, costs range from 36- thousand in sheboygan county... to more than a half million in milwaukee county. for milwaukee co there will be a wide variance in the vote totals. i dont think were going to see a change in the outcome of the winner of the election in wisconsin. the recount results will have to be certified and completed by december 12th.

new at eleven... 65 years! that's how long one of the men responsible for the fatal shooting of 5- year-old laylah petersen will spend behind bars.... that's in addition to 35 years of extended supervision. a judge handing down the sentence this morning in court. carl barrett junior was found guilty on all four charges he faced. laylah petersen was sitting on her grandfather's lap in 2014, when bullets her. investigators say, barrett and two other men were looking to kill a man acquitted of murdering one the men's family members. they fired into the wrong house. the other two men arlis gordon and paul farr have already pleaded guilty for their roles. four people were arrested in connection to the death of a 7-year-old boy. we're now learning one of the suspects-- a woman-- was convicted in the death of a one year old child-- 13 years ago. fox6's ashley sears has the

58:53 its just terrible. it really is. neighbors are left heartbroken and confused... after learning what police say happened inside this south side apartment-- nats??? a 7-year-old child killed--- police say he was abused. four people were arrested in connection to the death. nats a source says he suffered malnutrition and bruising at the hands of two women. we're told one of the women was locked up for her role in a separate child abuse case. in 2003, the suspect was convicted of child neglect resulting in death. according to a criminal complaint, 1-year-old bryan alston was found dead from "blunt force trauma about the entire body" the child had "bruising to the face" his "left arm ...broken" with gangreen. the suspect spent a year and a half behind bars. nats?? now thirteen years later-- another horrific accusation. a source tells fox

the deceased 7-year-old. a 9-year-old was also abused and is being treated at the hospital. we are told neither of the women accused--are the mothers to the abused boys. investigators are trying to figure out what happened-- neighbors try to understand whether the heartbreaking crime could've been prevented, 58:36 this is all going on right underneath our nose and we dont even know it. the two women were arrested for homicide. the two men accused in this case were arrested for failing to act to prevent bodily harm. ashley sears fox 6 news. a shots fired call leads to a crash-- and one man's arrest. officers were called to shots fired near 89th and mill about 3 this morning. witnesses told police the shooting came from a white s-u-v. while officers were investigating, they saw a white s-u-v speed off. the driver lost control and crashed into a tree near 95-th and allyn. the suspect is being treated for non-life threatening injuries

a wanted felon-- and recovered a gun from the vehicle. starting today-- milwaukee is launching a program where people can mail un-used prescription drugs in an envelope for free. those envelopes are available at local c- v-s stores. this comes after new numbers show milwaukee county is on pace for its deadliest year ever for opioid deaths. the milwaukee county medical died from opioid deaths so far this year-- with 55 additional deaths pending toxicology. that likely means last year's record of 231 deaths will be shattered. alderman michael murphy says efforts to slow the epidemic have failed. today, he will introduce legislation to create a city-county heroin and opioid task force. the task force is going to bring together law enforcement, medical professionals, treatment providers and addicts themselves to give us a better perspective

the task force is expected to go up for a vote today. a 19-year-old faces federal charges for robbing a mailman delivering two boxes on milwaukee's east side. daryl walter also faces charges for assaulting a government employee. a criminal complaint states he was one of two robbers who grabbed packages from a mailman, and ran off. sources tell us there were states postal service declined to comment, stating this is still an active investigation. milwaukee police are searching for the second suspect. its that time again....winter parking regulations begin today. according to the department of public works, from december 1st through march 1st-- most residential streets will require alternate side night parking. but, there are exceptions to the rule. the department of public

suspected gunman is dead that gunman is accused in the fatal shooting of a police officer in tacoma, washington. emotional video shows a procession for the fallen officer from the hospital to the medical examiner's office. the 45-year-old officer was shot multiple times while responding to a domestic violence call yesterday. the officer was rushed to the hospital for surgery ---- but didn't survive. "our officer was pronounced dead at the hospital. we all will take our time and to share our thoughts and feelings about our friend." the last time an officer was killed in tacoma was in 1997. areas in eastern tennessee are getting some much needed rain -- helping put out a series of devastating wildfires. the death toll has risen...it's now at 7. officials are looking at massive cleanup and recovery efforts.
