northeast, a shooting investigation. leon: we have breaking news from northeast washington where there is an active investigation into a shooting on h street. richard reeve is there live. rich, what can you tell us? richard: this is a very active scene. homicide has been involved. we cannot confirm this is a

homicide, but we know what adult male was found shot here at about 9:30 this evening. we will show you some video come a closer look at what is happening. the authorities arrived here and found this man on the ground. they have k-9 units and officers searching right now. they have other officers with flashlights searching as well. this is called the mayfair mentions apartments, which has -- mayfair mansion apartments, which has armed private security, which is how much they are confirmed about security. we have been here before on shooting calls. right now, the authorities are investigating the shooting. we do not know if it is a homicide, but certainly it is an urgent investigation. live from northeast washington richard reeve, abc 7 news. >> there is a robbery, there is an assault, break it up and we

will stop the fight. leon: a string of violent events on metro trains come including a stabbing, assault, and attempted robbery brought the angels to the district. roz plater is live in northeast washington with this development. roz, who are these people? roz: the guardian angels, who we have seen before doing this comment began patrolling tonight. passenger seem happy to see them, but there was a notice for a metro tonight that these volunteers are not police officers. rush-hour and a handful of guardian angels are starting voluntary patrols on the red line metro trains. >> i think it's nice the guardian angels are here, trying to keep us safe. >> i wish there was less crime and i'm glad there are people helping. roz: the move comes after a recent string of violent attacks

on metro. metro released these pictures of surveillance video on a red line train the week of christmas. the police say the man seen in these images is suspected of slashing another man and an attempted robbery at the u street station tuesday. then there was the deadly attack last summer, 24-year-old kevin sutherland stabbed to death on a red line train. the guardian angels are hoping they can be a deterrent to crime. >> if we see an innocent person being robbed or beaten, we would get involved, break it up, stop the fight, make sure the innocent person does not get hurt. we are not police officers, but we drk with the police. roz: a spokesman for metro said the volunteers are just like other passengers and if riders need help, they should reach out to metro transit police. the guardian angels plan to use about a dozen volunteers on the red line on the weekends. roz plater abc 7 news. leon: ok, thank you.

big day this weekend, a big day for redskins fans. a lot of folks would be willing to deal with the rain. one thing we know for certain, fedex field will be packed sunday. if you could not get a ticket to get inside to watch the game, chances are you will go someplace to watch it. tom roussey is live in landover talking with folks were planning on doing that sunday. a fan frenzy before the playoffs. hey, tom. tom: if you do not have a ticket yet, there are some for sale online but they get expensive. some redskins fans are wondering, what percentage of the crowd at fedex field sunday will be packers fans. we have a lot of packers fans in the area, but tonight we try to find packers fans from wisconsin. we hung out on 7th street to see if redskins and packers fans were showing team pride. over a half hour, we saw eight people wearing redskins gear and zero wearing packers gear.

in the d.c. area this weekend but i called the redskins and they say officially they are not organizing one for the redskins fans in this area. reporting live in landover outside fedex field, tom roussey, abc 7 news. leon: you found the only spot where he could find only eight jerseys for the redskins and a half hour. in philadelphia, a police officer was hospitalized after he was shot in an ambush point blank. the suspect said he was inspired to do it by isis. jonathan elias has a look at this. jonathan: this is terrifying full stop a warning, before we show the surveillance images that were released, they are difficult to watch a disturbing. important to know that the officer shot in the video is expected to be ok. edward archer is accused of going up and shooting 11 shots into a patrol car.

at one point, his hand is in the car, shooting point blank at the officer. he officer was shot three times in the arm, still got out of the car, drew his weapon, followed the suspect, and fired back, hitting him at least once. tonight we are learning about a possible motive in the shooting. >> he stated that he pledges his allegiance to the islamic state and follows allah and that is the reason he was called upon to do this. >> he believes that the police defend laws that are contrary to the teachings. jonathan: the question is how archer was radicalized. the police knew who he was begin see at had trouble in the past, and the police commissioner said the gun used in the crime was a police firearms stolen in 2013. they are trying to figure out how the suspect got the gun. jonathan elias, abc 7 news. leon: thank you, jonathan. another big story, the capture

of mexican drug lord el chapo. he was arrested in a bloody raid in western mexico. el chapo broke out of a maximum security prison in mexico six months ago. >> the level of sophistication probably cost at least $5 million, but to him that would be like five dollars. leon: experts believe that el chapo's drug trafficking organization was responsible for half the illegal drugs that inter-the u.s. every year. at one point, the dea wanted him jailed in the u.s. no word on if he will be transferred across the border to the u.s. in prince george's county, a 19-year-old was hit and killed by a car. richard reeve reports. richard: this cell phone video was taken shortly after the pedestrian crash that took the life of the 19-year-old. >> very horrible, very sad. richard: just after 6:00 friday

morning, she was crossing 197 when a northbound suv struck her. witnesses say 66-year-old driver had the great light. the woman was not using the crosswalk. >> they do it all the time. i have seen them jumping back and forth. richard: driver say even during the early morning rush, this can be a very busy street. a challenge for anyone trying to cross. >> this is always bad. richard: family members do not know where she was going at the early hour. they and others hope the police come up with answers. >> i'm very sorry for the family of the person. richard: richard reeve, abc 7 news. leon: the driver who hit the pedestrian has not been charged. the crash happened just after 6 a.m. the sun was not up until about 7:30 a.m. her family said she had been
