grieving the loss and offering support to the virginia state police. this comes-tote as we are learning more information about the suspect. 34-year-old james brown of aurora, illinois. james brown was traveling from raleigh north carolina to chicago with multiple stops along the way. including in richmond. brown had a long criminal history in illinois including attempt murder, gun and drug charges. just before yesterday's shooting at the greyhound station in richmond, authorities say brown had gone to check on the bag and was walking away from it when he had a brief intersection with dermyer. brown pull ald gun from his waistband and fired multiple shots at dermyer. two state troopers nearby shot at brown who later died at the hospital. authorities say he shot dermyer with a .40-caliber beretta semi-automatic pistol a gun bought legally a year ago but not by brown himself. also found on brown's possession 143 rounds of unspent ammunition. >> i am concerned that he

we know that that gun was bought a year ago legally. not bought by brown. we don't know how brown acquired it. we are still working with the a.t.f. to determine that. kevin: two other people suffered non-life threatening injuries in yesterday's shooting. a 21-year-old woman from new york and 47-year-old woman from north carolina. later tonight in richmond, a candlelight vigil will be held in honor of the life of trooper dermyer. in north chesterfield, jeff goldberg, abc7 news. maureen: developing story of the national mall tonight where for the second time this week the washington monument is closed. the elevator got stuck at the top of the monument after dropping off a group of people at the observation deck. dozens of people had to walk down from the top of the monument. no one was stuck. monument is closed door while maintenance will be done on the elevator. nuclear security summit is over. but today, pr
