probably closer to 5:00 or 6:00 when we see the best opportunity for showers and storms to bubble up. at reagan national. most other areas in the 70's. we have patches of clouds. still weakening but moving to the southwest of the metro area. later this afternoon, with several more hours of sunshine would help destabilize the atmosphere and the next system approaching, i think we will see scattered showers and storms. the question is where the heaviest ones will be. a few storms could become severe , so a good chunk of the area, not so much south of the metro area, but especially d.c. metro area north and east. as we get through the 6:00 to 7:00 hour, they really blow up and blossom.

we go through the evening. 8:30, lines of showers. things will start to calm down a little bit overnight. the biggest threat will be localized gusty wind over 50 miles an hour possible and some hail as well. we will keep an eye on things for the possibility that the weather might interfere with the phillies and the nationals tonight. we'll talk about that in more detail in just a few minutes. we want to getw, to some breaking news. d.c. police investigating a day in afor the second row. it appears to be right near a school. our d.c. bureau chief has what we know right now. sam? sam: it was around 9:20 this morning according to police in for 4300 block-- of 15th street, right near roosevelt high school, that a young juvenile

so police have been on the since then suspects in this area. if you are looking at some of the video, the police were hot on the trail. a couple of young males apparently ran behind some buildings and tried to hide, but police ultimately found them, stopped them, and that was, i would say, maybe 30 minutes ago. ever since, we have had a scene here. vanessa,ok behind me, just point where you see these police officers -- these officers are right around a pathway that leads back to where this all happened. out whoaiting to find they bring out. we understand from people who witnessed it that they ran back there. the police came back and told them to put their hands up, and since then, basically, that has been the scene. i would say there must have been eight

scene as they are looking for s in this particular case. we understand this is not a roosevelt student. more likely a cardozo high school student who was a victim, but nevertheless, police apparently have two suspects right here in the 800 block of upshur, and we are waiting to see what happens next. thank you. this also just into our newsroom -- npd needs your help this afternoon looking for suspects accused of trying to lure a child into their vehicle. in ae say they pulled up white sedan or small white suv and offered the child can do to get in the car. both suspects are described as men, at least 60 years old, with accents. one had a beetle tattoo on the back of his neck. contact

because wind was off the day. the reason it is so much cooler in these areas is because there's much more cloud cover to deal with at this moment. sunny skies, temperatures to about 85 and as we get through late afternoon, isolated showers and storms, we think the best chances will develop probably 6:00 to 7:00 and even isolated showers and storms left over by 10:00 p.m. very warm and mild through the evening. the first batch of showers coming through, cloudiness left over, inhibiting the sunshine right now, but we do think there .ill be more breaks in the sun we have a system approaching from the west and another approaching from the north. how that works out and who gets the best chances of storms, the experts have already highlighted and area through kansas sections of oklahoma as having a moderate risk, and the eastern extension because of the frontal

severe thunderstorms through our area. this is not the absolute weight that will happen necessarily because models have slightly different solutions, but it is a good starting point through the afternoon. where you see this line coming in from the north, numerous , still thosetorms running through the area, and then we will widen the view as we get later through the night. as we get into later hours, most everything does indeed eventually settle to the south and southeast of the area. have arrow afternoon, we new batch to keep an eye on. most of the day will be dry tomorrow. this will be the leftovers from that big outbreak in the west today. those showers will come here and turned somewhat cooler. a lot of active weather with a little improvement temporarily. much cooler -- 64. periods of rain developing thursday. 62 and partly cloudy skies as we head into the weekend. here's what things look for
