probably closer to 5:00 or 6:00 when we see the best opportunity for showers and storms to bubble up. at reagan national. most other areas in the 70's. we have patches of clouds. still weakening but moving to the southwest of the metro area. later this afternoon, with several more hours of sunshine would help destabilize the atmosphere and the next system approaching, i think we will see scattered showers and storms. the question is where the heaviest ones will be. a few storms could become severe , so a good chunk of the area, not so much south of the metro area, but especially d.c. metro area north and east. as we get through the 6:00 to 7:00 hour, they really blow up and blossom.

we go through the evening. 8:30, lines of showers. things will start to calm down a little bit overnight. the biggest threat will be localized gusty wind over 50 miles an hour possible and some hail as well. we will keep an eye on things for the possibility that the weather might interfere with the phillies and the nationals tonight. we'll talk about that in more detail in just a few minutes. we want to getw, to some breaking news. d.c. police investigating a day in afor the second row. it appears to be right near a school. our d.c. bureau chief has what we know right now. sam? sam: it was around 9:20 this morning according to police in for 4300 block-- of 15th street, right near roosevelt high school, that a young juvenile
