survival tuesday for some of the candidates in the race. good morning. it is 5:00 a.m. i'm david hall. troy and amy are here. a busy morning. >> yeah. unfortunately, we have big issues on the roads. >> a lot of heat to deal with. how hot it will get to straight ahead. >> we begin with breaking news, a deadly wrong way crash has shut down i-4. it is happening in the westbound lanes near sand lake and kirkman road exits. johnny, you got an update from troopers in the last five minutes. what are they saying? >> reporter: troopers are saying at least two people are dead. they tell me one of the cars was going the wrong way on i-4 westbound. i want to show you some video that we shot when we got here to the scene. take a look at the video. we can see the extent old

we know they were both involved in this crash. the front of the taxi is all smashed up. there were reports of one person trapped inside one of the cars after the crash. we'll work with troopers to try to get more answer. troopers with deputies trying to clean this mess up, they are trying to piece everything together. once i get an update, i'll pass that along on air and online. >> this shut down is going to impact the morning drive for some time. >> this is a big issue. let's get to amy, continuing our amy? >> this is a huge issue. as johnny was saying, we have a car sitting in bad shape in the middle of i-4. those westbound lanes are closed for now and likely will be for a big chunk of the morning commute. the closure area is around sand lake road. what they are doing, eastbound cars are traveling fine.

you off the roadway at kirkman. from there travel locally along sand lake and get back to i-4 eastbound on the other side of the closure. we'll keep you updated. a huge issue to start the day off with. that is your check on traffic. >> weatherwise, we are in for another hot day. >> we are keeping an eye out for fog. let's get the latest from troy bridges. >> some patches of fog. i think it will get worse closer to 7:00, 8:00. sunrise is later. that's when we see the worst of the fog before the sun comes up. we are at 68 in ocala. 71 in leesburg. 71 in orlando. 72 at cocoa beach. a very warm and muggy start. we are only going up from here. the record high for orlando today is 91. we'll make it up to 90 by 4:00. the report is set in 1971.

alone after today's votes. >> it will be clear to everyone this is a two man race. i think tomorrow it will officially be a two man race. >> back at the supervisor of elections office, workers are making final preparations for when the polls open at 7:00 this morning. coming up in 30 minutes, i'll look at the democratic race and the results of a new poll. >> with early voting. lots of floridians have cast their ballots. >> yes, actually, record breaking numbers for early voting and absentee voting. we are showing more than two ballots. in orange county. the supervisor of elections say they think more people voted early than will be voting today. that could mean a record, that could mean long lines at the polls. we'll keep an eye on things. we'll keep you updated

uniform. he had flashing lights and he was carrying a gun. all of them said there was no reason to believe he wasn't a police officer. police say they checked and no happened. here's how it played out, this woman was leaving the library, coming down 50 behind us. that's when she was pulled over area. she described this man who came up to her window to police. they tell us he is a white man in his mid 40's or 50's. he is about 5'6" and he has silver hair. we have an idea of the car he was driving. it looks like the one you see on your screen, a black ford crown victoria that looked like a year 2000 model. the car had lights inside the windshield which made it look

a few employees from the brady say they saw that man as well. they had no idea this guy was not a police officer. he was wearing a brown uniform and had flashing lights inside his black car. if you have seen anything like this, clermont police are asking you to give them a call right away. >> friends and family of a 15-year-old who was gunned down on an ocoee sidewalk will hold a vigil in his memory. police say davis was shot while walking along lakewood avenue before midnight. his family says he may have fallen in with a bad crowd. police haven't released information on any possible suspect. the family has set up a go fund me account to pay forror his funeral expenses. the fund raised $2,000. >> new this morning, another big change for thousands of drivers on i-4. >> this is coming with a warning

amy is back right now with the information. >> it is not exactly the i-4 project but nonetheless, this one is going to call for big changes for drivers this morning. let me show you where this is happening. this is going on between state road 44 in deland all the way up to the u.s. 92 exit near daytona beach. crews have been working for months to widen the stretch of highway from four to six lanes. eastbound drivers had been using part of the westbound side of the highway while the work had gone on. with the change, they will be using the brand new eastbound lanes. the dot is warning drivers to use caution getting through that area because of that shift. there will be signs up to one driver as well. >> the magic are helping to fight homelessness. all you have to do to join in is tweet. the website will donate $1 for every tweet using the hash tag,

coming up, we'll talk about when rain does return. rain does make a return. we'll talk about it. let's check on the roads and head over to amy with a major traffic alert. >> absolutely, troy. this is certainly a major alert. what you are looking at is it is still active scene on i-4 right by sand lake road. the westbound lanes are closed down because of this deadly overnight accident. what they are doing -- the eastbound lanes are fine. westbound they will be closed for some time. this is the area we are focused on. they are taking cars off by kirkman and detouring you to sand lake. and allowing you back to the westbound lanes this morning. as you can see, because it is early. not a huge delay getting past that. it will change as we get further into rush hour. the rest of our roads are doing well. that's your check on traffic. back now to you. >> thanks, amy. it is 5:11.

. >>. >> we are following breaking news on the roads. two people are dead after this crash shut down i-4 in the westbound lanes near the sand lake road exit. troopers tell us one of the drivers was going the wrong way on the highway and caused the crash. we know both drivers involved were killed and amy will be back in minutes with another update on the crash and how to get around that traffic blockage right there. >> this morning, investigators with the national transportation safety board say the condition of the track will be at the center of their investigation into an amtrak train derailment.

injured. federal investigators say it is still unclear at this point what caused the train to derail west of kansas. they say the engineer's actions may have saved some lives. >> the engineer put the train into emergency braking early early. >> crews expect to be at the scene of the accident for one week. >> negotiations between volusia county schools and its teachers have hit another major bump in the road after 11 negotiation sessions, the two sides were unable to reach an agreement. they declared an impasse over wages and benefits. teaches have been pushing for a two year deal that would address working conditions, planning time, resources and pay. the school offered a 4% raise starting in july.

then we saw at yesterday. getting into the 90's into the afternoon today right around 90 in orlando. the record high is 91 set in 1971. close to records in spots. 78 at 9:00 tonight. at 10:00, 75. a warm night in store. a few clouds rolling in to help insulate the atmosphere. tomorrow, once again a warm start in the low 70's. here it is you see the white through 2:00 this afternoon. no rain but a lot of sunshine will get through. that will warm us here's how warm you can expect it. 87 at daytona beach. 89 in leesburg. 88 in melbourne.

watch out if you get in the water there will be an elevated rip current risk. 85 on your thursday. a 20% chance for rain then. by the end of the week, friday, rain chances increase to 40%. 50% on saturday and sunday with highs in the 70's by the end of the weekend. let's head over to amy from the napleton traffic center. >> we have a big issue, if you look behind me, this is going on in the westbound lanes of i-4. that is why the westbound lanes of i-4 are closed by sand lake road. what they are doing, in order to help you get around for the morning drive. they are detouring cars off the road at kirkman for right now. eventually reconnecting with i-4 westbound at the other side of
