headed in i'll tell you here from a few minutes. you can see the forecast through the day today. very, very nice. will, i'll have the complete 7- day forecast for you in just a few minutes. hermine, the first hurricane in 11 years to make landfall in florida is now a tropical storm this morning. still churning across the east coast. but there is growing concern the storm could intensify over the weekend, reaching hurricane status again. jay gray has the latest. >> reporter: the first hit may have been the most violent. hermine crashing the florida gulf coast overnight. the wind, ripping apart buildings, pulling down trees and power lines. the rain and storm surge, 12 feet in some areas, pushing water into places it is not supposed to be. daylight revealing the extent

miles across the strike zone. >> this hasn't happened in years. >> reporter: more than a decade since a hurricane made landfall in florida. >> as the hurricane made landfall through our state inland hermine lost power but very little of its punch. >> my wife heard a lot of noise around 2:15, i think a transformer had blown or something. >> report speed as it crossed into the carolinas, continuing its path of destruction, a path that could take it into the waters of the atlantic. growing again to lurk strength as it skirts the eastern seaboard. threatening areas like cape cod, where tourists are trying to get in at least one more day of fun. while, for residents, bracing for the storm. >> we are putting extra lines on the boats and stuff like that. >> reporter: this long weekend

for more than 480 million fans since 70 years ago. one of the pilots said he started flying at 16. here's what he had to say about what they are trying to do as they travel around to different air shows. >> we are trying to inspire them. showcase a pride and professionalism through our flight demonstration and showcase excellence we provide through the precision and teamwork we have. we don't want to inspire people just to be in the military or to be pilots, but just to out and give 100% every day and give back to society. >> reporter: the cleveland national air show is one of the region's largest annual events. each year it attracts between 60,000 to 100,000 visitors. if you would like it check it out the cleveland national air show gates open at 9:00 and it wraps up around 4:00 tonight. general admission is $21 for adults, and $23 at the gate. and remember, it is going on

the stand ford university swimmer from ohio convicted of sexual when i assaulting an unconscious woman is a free man this morning. brock turner served three months of his 6-month sentence in a california jail. he was released early due to good behavior. this light sentence made a lot of people he could have faced 14 years in prison, instead he is on three years probation and will be a registered sex offender for his life. >> i think he is outrageous. he is gone from our custody and should never have been here in the first place. should be in state prison right now. >> 2 million people signed a petition supporting the vick. the petition is also calling for removing the judge from the bench. and colin kaepernick's decision to sit during the

lack of security at the 49ers games. the santa clara police union which accounts for more than half of the security says they may not work this season. the union sent the 49ers a letter over colin kaepernick's blanket statements about how officers quote murder minorities. >> i'm already hearing this week that next week on monday night football some officers are not going to work. >> the 49ers, so standing by the statement they made earlier this week, that said they respect his right to not participate in the national anthem. the world's largest phone maker is recalling millions of its galaxy 7s. samsung is trying to keep the problem from blowing up. the batteries may be prone to exploding and catching fire.

about 20 miles per hour, and that is tropical storm hermine, 60 miles per hour sustained winds. right now the center of circulation about 60 miles to the west northwest of cape hatteras, north carolina. probably won't make landfall again, but there are watches and warnings the next few days, all the way up and down the east coast. all the way to new england and they will have a pretty rough weekend to say the least, in terms of surf, and in some cases rain as well. wind, across our area, for the most part, is going to be very light here today. certainly not going to have any, or at least not much of an effect there with the tropical storm. temperaturewise, elyria, 52. 62 downtown. akron canton airport 55 degrees. as we move through time you are going to see a lot of clear

physicians are pushing back. monica robbins explains. >> reporter: a new study in the journal of peed kt tricks shows in 2013, 87% of surveyed pediatricians say they have had parents refuse vaccines. up from 2006. many parents don't believe immunizations are necessary. but outbreaks off prove that theory wrong. in 2013 unvaccinated amish brought the ohio which resulted to nearly 400 cases in nine counties. that same year ohio state students came down with pumps. and last year measles linked to disneyland spread the virus nationwide, the reason linked to so many being unvaccinated against these ancient diseases that many thought had been eradicated and many parents are concerned too many shots could burden the child's immune system. both concerns go against the

current vacs seen schedule is both safe and effective. many pediatricians are dismissing parents who refuse to vaccinated. >> it means the pediatrician does not have children in their practice who are not immunized. i happen to be one of those people. >> reporter: her office at rainbow gives up to 250 vaccinations a day. >> i know two of us who if you choose not to have immunized and there is no medical reason for it, you can see somebody else in the group. >> reporter: but according to america's health rankings from united health foundation, ohio parents seem to be getting the message about getting their kids vaccinated. because in 2014 the state ranked 49th in the country for worst vaccination record. we have moved up to number 36. but two of our neighbors are still among the worst, west virginia at 50, and michigan at

list of events this weekend. it is going to be great weather for it all. >> reporter: absolutely picture perfect, a mighty fine weekend ask a great start to the day. temperature right now 59 degrees, fair skies, dew point at 51. and through the weekend we are going to have this kind of a set up, cool nights, cool mornings, warm days and loads of sunshine. no complaints whatsoever there should be this weekend when it comes to the weather. on the lake that applies as today. lots of sunshine, 1 to 2- footers out there. however water quality, certainly questionable. downtown is considered poor in terms of the bacteria count, the same for euclid. and as we look at temperatures across the area, you'll see 52, elyria 49, ashtabula cool, almost chilly over there. the absence of clouds because of high pressure here across our area, but we still have that tropical storm that was

cleveland this year, that is the u.s. air force f-22 raptor and the world war ii b25 mitchell bomber. this is video from previous air shows in cleveland. there is a line of events each day, everything from fighter jet fly bys to the blue angels show. they will be doing super slow and super fast may new year's eve while they fly within inches of each other and soar at 700 punishment one man has a very important job, which is maintaining all the electrical systems on the aircraft. here's what he had to say about how they hope to change the lives of people who come to the show today. >> it is very exciting. i like inspiring the people out here on air shows, especially the children. and influencing them in a way that they'll grow up and succeed in life. >> reporter: the cleveland national air show is one of the
