i think he will. >> you talk about a day of mixed messages from the campaign, kellyanne conway comes out and says, yes, donald trump believes president obama was born in the united states. donald trump says, i'm not going to answer that question right now. i'll answer it when the time is right. later a statement from the campaign said, actually, donald trump should be given credit because he forced president obama to produce that birth certificate. what is the answer? will we get clarity on that today from the candidate himself? >> let's be clear on what happened here. when donald trump made that campaign on the birther issue a few years ago produced a birth certificate, donald trump didn't stop. he kept talking and tweeting for years after the fact saying that he was turning up new information that the certificate the president produced was false. so this narrative they are trying to put out there this was donald trump trying to do some sort of public service -- he took something happening sort underground in 2008, 2009, 2010 and exploded that on to the mainstream.

mesh lining? >> a lot of people don't know about this but they make these mesh liners which are breathable for your baby. if it rolls over to the edge of the crib, you don't want it to suffocate. definitely make sure to invest in a mesh liner and make sure your baby has that open ventilation. >> after people give birth, you are given a lot of flowers. >> sticking with the floral theme, we went with some floral decor. them into art. i love the idea of taking the bouquets that your family and friends give you when you have the baby, drying them out and hanging them upside down in the nursery. this is a simple wooden plank. we hung the flowers just with some twine. and it is beautiful. it also has a nice floral scent for the baby. >> a nice natural scent, too. instead of the phony fragrances of all the wipes and everything. amanda on our "today" parenting

repurpose an old curio cabinet. >> you can find these on craigslist, or a flea market. you may even have one in your house. this year we repurposed it into a dresser which is really great because it has see through windows. you can always see where things are. you don't have to dig through drawers. we painted the backdrop a light soft pink to match the theme of the nursery. you get that nice pop of color. >> i love that. mine if i had an open cabinet would just be a ball of clothes. >> organized. over here is more of a modern take on the nursery. i'll start with some of the wall decor because this is a little unusual. we used drawer knobs and turned them into these colorful pegs you can use for virtually anything. >> how do you attach those to the wall? >> use an anchor. change the screw in the back of the doorknob and it passes right into the knob. these cost literally dollars. you might even have some around

>> nice. then i see shapes and hexagons and triangle type shelving. >> geometric shelving is really popular in the decor market right now. i love the idea of playing it up for your nursery. use succulents. you can bring some of these natural scents in to the nursery with greenery. suculents are easy to keep alive. you don't have to worry about watering the plants which is always nice. if you do some of these geometric shelves, it is a huge trend right nown >> furniture wise, a nice space saver with the corner changing table. >> nurseries are usually the smaller rooms in the house. >> yes. it is very small. >> you into ed to maximize all the space you can. this is a corner changing table. it is so great. it comes with a hamper right underneath it because you are constantly changing your baby, of course, and it has everything you need. all kinds of compartments. fits right into the corner. amazing for maximiing your space.

crib i got. it is a convertible crib and changes as the kid grows. >> the great thing about these -- this is the same crib that we used in the other nursery. you can see as an infant crib over here. it converts to a toddler crib. and then when your baby has outgrown the toddler crib -- notice the safety rail here so your child doesn't roll out of the bed like mine does -- then you can actually take that off and it turns into a day bed for an older kid as well. >> you also cool technology in here. i don't know where the monitor is. but this is more than just getting a picture of your baby. >> this is more than just a baby monitor. this is pretty new on the market. it is not only a video monitor that you can access from your phone, but it tracks your baby's sleep patterns and the movement. it knows how well your baby has been sleeping and it can give you a whole readout on how many times it woke up during the

we're back now at 8:46 with a special edition of "today food." fall weekends are all about watching your favorite teams

rocket in chicago is here with a great one-pot meal. >> what are we making today? >> this is one of my favorite dishes at rocket. it is hearty, it's got some spice but it is really healthy with ingredients like chicken, garlic, green peppers, jalapenos, tomatillos, all kinds of good stuff. first we're just going to do season with a little salt and pepper. i'm using chicken thighs here. i like chicken thighs because they're just tastier. and we're just going to brown them on each side which will also kick up the flavor profile a bit. you're just doing this right here in your pot. you are going to use the same pot the whole time. once you brown it, it will look great. add some chicken stock to cook it all the way through.

separate it. you can use turkey or pork, if you want, by the way. totally mix it up. then you go et to your vegetables. we've got green peppers, on onions, just sweat that out to get nice and tender. then hit it with a little bit more salt. then just add the garlic, jalapenos for a little bit more heat, cayenne for some heat. want it to sweat at the appropriate rate and also get the good mix going. tomatillo -- >> you're putting some spice in here. >> i know. >> we are also going to be sweating at the appropriate rate. >> i know. then shredded chicken. you can use rotisserie chicken if you want to cut all those steps. or even leftover chicken. throw it all in. after about 30 minutes of turning the heat down and letting it simmer, now smell that. >> that's 30 minutes once you

chicken are break up, tomatillos will break down. add white beans, salt at the very end to taste. that's your chili, very healthy. but we could take it to the other level. if you want to drop it right on the nachos, i have amazing game day nachos. >> guys? >> billy, you deliver. >> phenomenal. >> you see that big nachos in front of you? i'll show you how to make it. in these nachos, jalapenos, tomatillo salsa, cilantro. >> in addition to what we've made here. >> yes. once you've done that, serve it up as chili or on nachos. add sour cream. mix that really slow and at a

busy work week and kids will love them. >> one of my favorite people. jocelyn is the wonder behind grandbaby cakes. >> two yummy things today. starting with my one-bowl chewy brownies. these are the ingredients. everything is dropped into one bowl. the dry stuff, of course the oreos and some chocolate chips. we'll start with our melted butter. i'm just going t our sugar. we have two types of sugar, brown sugar and regular sugar. granulated sugar. you can mix this up for me. you can't go wrong with that. this is so easy. just start mixing it up. >> i guess right now i could just go -- >> you could probably just drive in right now. >> then i'm going to add our eggs one at a time. we want to do that so we can get a really nice smooth batter going. >> can i admit to you that i'm not -- >> you are already doing a great job.

>> i do rice krispie treats. >> you can do this, too! >> okay. >> we are making this super nice and chewy so adding a little oil. then of course you got to add some vanilla for some flavor. get that in. our last step is our dry ingredients. some cocoa powder, some flour and some baking soda. >> do you bake? >> no. >> you can stop there because we've got of course some magic here. we've got already our brownie mixture here. we are going oreos. >> it's an oreo. >> easy enough. can you believe this is pretty much done? we're going to dump it in our 8x8 pan. go for it.
