karen wynne joins us with our skywatch forecast. >> karen: right, frank. we are actually headed in to one of the coldest nights of winter. the wind chill advisory continuing until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning for yancey, mitchell and avery counties. wind chills going as low as 15 below zero. obviously a time to layer up not only in the northern mountains but here in asheville as well. a look at your evening planner. a very chilly one. 21 degrees by 7 o'clock. 18 at 9:00 and 16 degrees at 11 o'clock. layer up and limit your time outdoors if you are going to be out this evening. even in the upstate a cold night ahead. 27 at 9:00. mid 20s at 11 o'clock. we have a new winter storm watch that is up for late sunday night on through monday evening. we are going to show you more on a mix of snow and ice and

when it hits and how much snow can accumulate. >> frank: winter weather making for a rough night in asheville's kennel neighborhood. one driver just slid off the road, crashed right in to a fence. tonight? >> justin: she's fine, frank. but as you can tell over here, the sign and the fence not so much. she wasn't the only one to have problems navigating this asheville road overnight. for much of the day people passing by saw a red car on the sidewalk which took out part of the fence. driver hannah shulin said she was coming home from work. she fishtailed, took out the street sign and came up to a fence inches from a telephone poen. >> it took a while to register.

chance now your news 13 skywatch weather. >> karen: we have another winter storm headed our way and the biggest problems are going to be snow and freezing rain out of this next system. but for tonight, it is going to be the bitter cold that we really need to deal with, with very low temperatures and wind chills. we have that wind chill advisory in the northern mountains. tonight is the night to layer up, not a night to be without the gloves or hats. drip your faucets to avoid any pipes from bursting. check your car battery. of course check the pets.

the elderly either. asheville 29 degrees. winds out of the north at 17 miles per hour, we feel like 12 degrees outside right now. that is our current wind chill. skies are clear right now. those winds are gusty. as we go through the future cast, we have a lot happening so i'm going to take it slowly hour by hour. the winds come down a bit. still quite gusty in the northern mountains with wind chills going below zero. that is why that advisory is in effect all night long. temperatures are going to drop off as we go through the overnight hours. really, really low. single digits. by day break it is going to be cloudy. 7 o'clock in the morning, most folks waking up with cloudy skies. valentine's day it will be cold and cloudy.

mainly in the higherr elevations. if you have dinner plans for valentine's day tomorrow, keep that in mind. it's mainly going to be tomorrow night overnight in to monday morning when we're going to see that snow move in. that monday morning commute, oh boy, that isn't going to be fun. snow will be flying across the mountains. anywhere in blue, snow, gusty winds. blowing snow, low visibility. where you see the purple, that is a wintery mix. including freezing rain. and ice that will accumulate. by midday on monday, a good chance ice will continue in the foothills and upstate, too. most of the snow turning to rain. some of it continuing over the northern mountains before it changes over to all rain. and then eventually moves out. right now first look at snow fall accumulations. we're talking one to three inches in and around asheville with higher totals. six to eight possible in parts

ice accumulating on top of that, travel is going to be tricky. lows tonight. asheville 12. bryson city 14. burnsville down to 10. newland 9. 18 in forest city. highs tomorrow are going to be very chilly. asheville 31. hendersonville 33. mid 30s in franklin. that snow beginning to fall late in the afternoon. quick look at that 7 day forecast, of course showing that winter storm in full force on monday. tuesday, some lingering wintery mix. even on in to wednesday. later in the week, wow, feeling like spring with highs near 60 by next saturday. so if we can hold on for a few days. >> frank: a big switch over there. that will be nice. >> karen: yes, it will.

kimball >> luke: back on january 4th, the unc asheville women's basketball team lost to liberty. and that was the bull dogs' first defeat in the south conference. last night was a chance for pay back. let's go to kimball arena where the bulldogs could take on first place by themselves if they could beat liberty. paige beats the buzzer. bulldogs lead 17 to 14. fast forward to the third quarter. long distance from way outside. asheville leads 45 to 33. then in the fourth quarter, kayla webb gets in the pane and drops down. asheville beating liberty 56o 51.
