tomorrow night. updates will also be posted on oururfacebook and twitter pages, and wlos dot com. 3 3 3 happening today... a contractor from candler, accused of scamming homeowners, is expected to be in court. adam spears faces half a dozen felony charges for obtaining property by false pretenses. victims say they paid spears thousands of dollars for work, like deck and roof repairs, but he never completed the jobs. 3 3 3 the search continues...for possible suspects in the fatal shooting of an asheville teenager last week. 17-year-old kyri logan died after being shot at 'deaverview apartments.' yesterday police told us investigators are still collecting and analyzing evidence...as well as interviewing witnesses. kyri was on the football team at erwin high school. 3 3 a transylvania county man, now a convicted murderer, will spend life in prison without parole. it took jurors less than an hour to find richard o'shields guilty in the shooting death of toby mathis. prosecutors say he wanted to avenge the death of his son.. joey. months earlier... mathis

manslaughter for joey's death. 3 yes we're disappointed but wewe respect the jury's decision. as you have noted, we are taking an appeal to the court of the appeals and that will be handled by the appellate defender.but you can't outrun it forever so this has been a long time coming but you have to be held accountable for this. we are not promoting vigilantism in this country thank goodness. the mathis and o'shields families had no comment after the verdict. the judge pointed out that in this case both families lost a son. 3 3 3 3 topping this mornings headlines... a mass shooting at a kansas manufacturing plant leaves three people dead and 14 others hurt. the gunman was identified late last night as 38-year-old cedric ford, an employee at the "excel industries plant" outside of wichita. witnesses said he started shooting his co- workers with what appeared to be an ak-47. ford was eventually shot and killed by police. so far, no motive has been released.

may soon be legal in vermont. the state senate passed a bill that would allow adults, 21 and older, to have up to one ounce of pot. it also allows license holders to grow marijuana. the bill now heads to the house judiciary committee after the general assembly returns from break. that will be the second week of march. 3 president obama says he believes the terror group isis is in trouble. speaking to reporters in washington yesterday, the president said isis has not launched an operation in iraq and syria since last summer. he also quoted a syrian national as saying the terror group has made enemies of "almost everyone". obama says that shows isis is not winning hearts and minds in the middle east, and is under intense pressure. 3 a family pet dies after eating toxic wires left behind by a verizon utility worker. cedar the dog, found the wires in the family's buffalo, new york yard over the weekend. the dog underwent a blood transfusion and was given a 50-50 chance of survival. cedar's owner says verizon has promised to reimburse him up to five-thousand-dollars for

3 the people of flint michigan are getting some help from right here in the mountains. "a-b-c-c-m" and "nazareth first baptist church" are taking water donations to get safe drinking water to residents there. along with water, donations of warm clothes and food can be made at a trailer on the church's property just off of martin luther king boulevard. the collection will continue until the trailer is full. one pastor says it's a crisis that demands action. 3 rev. dr. john grant / pastor, mt. zion baptist church 13:56:20 "people of color are actually sometimes overlooked. not valued. because often times don't have the kind of political clout and influence to get the kind of services that other, more affluent communities might get." a-b-c-c-m and local participating churches are calling on businesses and people to donate as much as possible. 3 3 champion credit union donates 100-thousand dollars to nine mountain school districts. during 20-15, it launched a "schooled on savings" campaign, encouraging members
