good afternoon. thank you for joining us for news19 at noon. i'm darci strickland. we start off with a story that has gripped the community's attention. bond was set for the restaurant owner charged with murdering his wife's lover on valentine's day. this morning, a judge set a $500,000 in bonds -- with several conditions including that he had no contact with his wife. he will be required to surrender his passport and cannot have any type of deadly weapon. if bond is posted, he must live with his parents and will be

greg leon is charged in a sunday night shooting in lexington county. police say he opened the door of the victim's car and shot at him and killed him. investigators say he also attended to murder his wife who was also in the car. but the bullet missed her. at the hearing today, his wife says she is not afraid of him and said that she wants him released on bail to take care of his restaurant and support their family. also, bond was set for a kershaw county man charged in the shooting death of a teenager. a judge set bond at $200,000 for 49-year-old jimmy joe massey. he was charged with voluntary manslaughter after killing a 17- year-old brandon spencer. he says he shot spencer after seeing the teenager and another person stealing items from his truck. after a cold start this morning, temperatures have risen into the 50s.

and had not properly trained employees. it does say that no evidence of hacking, any medicaid data has occurred. the director for the state is replacing the aging computer system for paying medicaid providers. a local leader wants people to pray for the three lexington deputies injured in a traffic accident. lexington county councilman bobby keebler is asking for the public to join him for a prayer ceremony this evening. it starts at 6:30 p.m. at the park park in red bank. gop presidential contender marco rubio was in columbia this morning for a rally at the marriott on hampton street. he was joined by governor nikki haley, a senator and a state representative. later today, he will go to hilton head. he is scheduled to hold a rally in north charleston. former florida governor

he is holding question and answer sessions with former first lady barbara bush in spartanburg and greenville. tonight he has a rally in the town of central. ohio governor john kasich was in columbia this morning for a townhall meeting. he will also be in conway today holding a townhall at the georgetown technical college. democratic presidential candidate senator bernie sanders and candidate hillary clinton are in nevada for the final day of campaigning ahead of tomorrow's caucuses after a big win in new hampshire, sanders is looking to show that this race is far from over. clinton is looking to get back on track before heading to the primaries in southern states where she is popular with voters. justice antonin scalia's body is laid in the great hall of the supreme court today. a private ceremony was held this morning including family, friends and justices. president and misses obama are

novelist harper lee has died. the author of "to kill a mockingbird" passed away at her home town of monroeville, alabama. this was her first novel. it won the pulitzer prize and sold more than 10 million copies. she led a private life rarely making public appearances. harper lee was 89 years old. the usc women's basketball team managed to take down the sec regular-season title with a win over georgia last night. a strong defensive effort pushed usc to a 61-51 win. the team is now a perfect 13-0 in sec play and moves to 25 and one overall. the gamecocks are back in action monday night when they are on the road against alabama. tap -- tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. meanwhile, the usc men's festival team will be looking for a win tomorrow as they host florida to another sold-out crowd. this will be the one meeting between the two since the

it is 55 degrees right now in lexington. newberry, winnsboro, 54. orangeburg, 55. a little cooler at aiken at 54 degrees. a lot of sunshine right now. 55 degrees and columbia. relative humidity, 38%. with wind out of the east at 8 miles per hour. all the way to the top of the atmosphere, the air is very dry. not a single cloud in the sky all throughout the palmetto state. the high-pressure is allowing the dry air to stay in place. the dry air will continue to warm us up as we are expecting highs today in the upper 50s, lower-60s. even into the middle 60s. we get as high as 66 in orangeburg. and columbia, 64. a lot of sunshine. wind out of the southeast at five up to 10 miles per hour. increasing cloud coverage into the overnight hours. 35 degrees, for the low. all the lows will range from the lower to middle 40s. it won't be as cold as we have had over the past several mornings.

pronounced dry air. very warm air for that matter, in the southern plains. this area of low pressure and this cold front will be the next weather maker. as they both make their way toward the deep south, we will have increasing cloud coverage. then the rain chances. our computer model shows as we go throughout the afternoon and evening, it is going to be dry. no clouds until early in the morning. tomorrow, and pretty much throughout the day, a mixture of sunshine and clouds. a little more sunshine and clouds saturday. as we get into sunday, more cloud coverage as we wait for the rain to move through off of the appalachians. what we're looking at tomorrow, 71 degrees. a mixture of sun and clouds. sunday, 73 degrees with partly to mostly cloudy skies. the rain moves then by monday. a high of 66 degrees. we could have a good chance for moderate to heavy rainfall on tuesday. wednesday afternoon, the rain comes to a end by thursday. quite a bit of sunshine. good time for the weekend -- to get out and enjoy the sunshine. >> thank you so much.

brought them back here to the test kitchen. each one week ate was sweeter than the last. besides how sweet they were, having a big bowl of them on the counter was like a ray of sunshine. we start by creaming together butter and sugar. when that is smooth, we add freshly squeezed orange juice. and a bit of orange zest. when it comes together, we had a good amount of flour, baking powder and salt. after everything is mixed, we drop tablespoons of it onto some greased cookie sheets and into the oven they go. we throw together a glaze which is powdered sugar mixed with a little bit of oj and orange zest. whole house will smell amazing. after they cool, we put the orange glaze over them to make them extra good. with each bite, you will feel
