on black street near the great miami river. crews had to cut open the van to get to the driver out. a medical helicopter was also called to the scene and the man was taken to uc hospital. we are told he was talking to first responders, and he is expected to survive. also new this morning, a woman is expected to face charges for this crash and north fairmount. the woman had injuring king before she crashed on westwood northern boulevard. she was taken of the hospital with minor injuries. wires were down in the area been cleared. developing now, a shooting in butler county with a mother and her daughter found dead. dan griffin is live in fairfield township with what investigators are calling a murder-suicide. dan: neighbors were shocked by the sounds of gunshots. fairfield township police chief calling this case a tragedy. investigators say a mother and daughter are dead after an

this happened about 9:00 last night on springcrest drive. s shot and killed her s. then she turned the gun on herself. gun go off. it is not to what led up to the we know investigators are working to let family members know about exactly what happened in this case. we are working to get updates and what the investigation, what they will do going forward. we will bring that to you as we move through the morning. live in fairfield township, dan griffin, wlwt news 5. mark: thank you. a suspect shot and killed. newly released body camera video shows the tense moments before the deadly confrontation between a ludlow police officer and a suspect. kyla: the officer was shot and the suspect was killed last december. >> i' m allowed to search you for weapons. of terry vs. ohio, i' m allowed to do a pat down for weapons. stop it with your hands. stop it. kyla: we have stopped the video in the moments before the shots

that exchanged happened after officer sam hodge stopped charles reynolds for a traffic violation. reynolds is heard not complying with officer hodge' s commands and pulled a gun, shooting the ludlow officer once in the right arm. hodge also fired, shooting and killing reynolds. last night, ludlow police honored the good samaritan who rushed to the officer' s aid even creating a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. mark: happening today, the arraignment for a suspect accused of selling a batch of deadly heroin. 25-year-old vance morgan is facing involuntary manslaughter and five more drug charges. he is accused of selling heroin mixed with a powerful synthetic opiate called fentanyl. that mix ended up killing 37-year-old casey fewell in october. in commitment 2016, debate number 12 for the four remaining republican candidates. and this time, the issues were in the spotlight. the debate lacked the insults and raised voices that we' ve seen in other debates. the candidates even noticed the change in tone last night in miami. >> we'

their goodbyes. she will be buried at the ronald reagan presidential library with her husband. the victims of the 2009 fort hood terrorist attack will be awarded purple heart medals. texas governor greg abbott will present the medals at a ceremony in kileen. in november 2009, major nidal hasan opened fire at fort hood, killing 13 people and injuring more than 30 others. the army will also award the civilian equivalent of the purple heart the defense of , freedom medal to non-military , victims. former gop presidential candidate ben carson is expected to endorse donald trump for president today. trump mentioned the endorsement during last night' s debate. carson dropped out of the presidential race last week after failing to win a single primary or caucus. over 300 jobs are being cut in boone according to the kentucky career center. the facility and hebron is

the first group of terminations will begin in the middle of may. the hebron facility is an e-commerce shipment center. kyla: a new development is expected to give a major boost to madisonville. the city is investing $200 million for an area near the intersection of red bank and madison. the development will include housing units as well as office and retail space. all of it will be built on the 27-acre campus of the research company medpace. >> it' s really the gateway for a lot of people for madisonville. we get tens of thousands of cars through there every day. maybe some that didn' t stop before will now. maybe some that thought, oh this is the neighbor neighborhood -- neighborhood with the udf will say, this is madisonville. kyla: right now there is no exact date for the groundbreaking. we do know this is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the community. mark: happening today, devou park will have another option for hikers. the john volz trail is reopening. it had to be rebuilt and cleared to improve drainage and accessibility. there will be a ceremony this

leaders and park officials. a new plan is on the table to help close funding deficits for the first two years of the streetcar' s operation in cincinnati. kyla: it has been a big topic of conversation. city manager harry black has submitted a short-term plan to city council. it includes $900,000 in stopgap funding from the ralph haile/u.s. bank foundation. but only if city council approves additional money to cover the rest of the two-year deficit. the budget gap is blamed in part on start-up costs and lower than expected revenue projections. mark: jennifer schack is here with a look at what is happening outside. we thought we are going to need the ark their building, but finally, the rain stopped. that is good news. jennifer: today is the reprieve and then we have a good amount of rain and showers for the weekend forecast as well. we kind of get back into the

break up the clouds and see some sunshine. i think northern counties will see more of it. they take, partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the 60' s. high-pressure is short-lived. the gates are open for more moisture to return. it looks like a wave of showers and embedded thunderstorms tomorrow during the late morning to midday, representing the return of moisture back to the region. we will end up with limited sunshine tomorrow. in and out of scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms for saturday. the wetter weather pattern continues for sunday and monday as well as. a close look at the futurecast with the timing of the band returning tomorrow morning. overnight, basically dry as the clouds rethicken. they have a sprinkle or two at 6:00 to 7:00 in the morning.

kyla: welcome back. not seeing any rainy conditions like we had yesterday morning. we will be drying out. dreary to get started. maybe some peaks of sunshine later today. let' s check on the roads. a situation on 75. what is the latest? india: we have an accident on the southbound of 75 right between mitchell and the norwood lateral at vine street. earlier, they had one lane blocked. now two lanes are blocked, so only the express lane is getting by. keep that in mind. i am not seeing a big backup. i will keep an i on that. another accident at westwood northern. also the accident earlier at westwood northern, that has cleared. so keep that in mind at hobble. all of the lanes are open.

industrial road at hillcrest drive in florence, an accident. up. i will keep an i and all of those accidents and have them coming up shortly. mark: thank you. a plea deal for a former pastor dayton. the archdiocese of cincinnati says reverend earl simone. -- the archdiocese of cincinnati says reverend earl simone, who formerly served at saint peter church, pleaded guilty to aggravated theft after stealing nearly $2 million from his parish. the deal recommends a five year prison sentence and for simone to repay all the stolen money. he is free on bond until his sentencing next month. he resigned as pastor of saint peter and three other parishes last april. there' s a new partnership between the hamilton county sheriff' s office and the victim advocate group you can speak for me. the group is behind those cold case playing cards. and now the sheriff' s office says they will begin selling the cards to inmates at the justice center. the cards have the photos of victims of unsold -- unsolved

hope dudley started the group after her son was killed in a drive by shooting and witnesses refused to come forward. kyla: cesar milan, commonly referred to as "the dog whisperer," is under investigation for animal cruelty. the investigation stems from an incident filmed for his "cesar 911" tv show where he trains dogs with bad behavior. in the episode, millan apparently used a live pig as part of a training session with a dog that had previously attacked two pet pigs. in the segment, the dog bit the pig' s ear before it could be stopped, and there are claims that a part of the ear was bitten off. s representatives insist that was not the case. mark: let' s see what is coming our way. any sunshine today? jennifer: a little today and a little tomorrow. overall, a lot of clouds. it is going to be dry today, sunshine. on the radar, no ongoing rain. i think the radar has a little we'

good to go as you can see green we will keep you updated. mark: thank you. a shooting in butler county late last night. now official are investigating it as a murder-suicide. wlwt news 5' s dan griffin is in fairfield township where we are learning it involves two family members. dan, good morning. dan neighbors reported hearing : gunshots last night. now we know why. after an apparent murder suicide. investigators are telling us it was found by family members. this happened at about 9:00 last night on springcrest drive. fairfield township police say the mother, in her 50' s, shot and killed her daughter, who was in her 20' s. she then she turned the gun on herself. neighbors say they heard the gun go off. the details of why this happened are still unclear. investigators tell us they are now working to notify family members. there are expected to release
