adam: an armed home invasion in franklin this morning leads to three arrests and sent the victim to the hospital in serious condition. good evening, i' m adam sexton. stephanie: and i' m stephanie woods. police say they were able to nab the suspects thanks to teamwork and calls from neighbors. but it is a case with an interesting twist. wmur' s jennifer crompton joins us with that story tonight. >> the initial call to franklin police wasn' t about a home invasion. it was about a suspicious man seen stumbling around a neighborhood. turns out, he was a victim. residence on nelson street where a disheveled man had collapsed on a porch. he' d jumped from the second story balcony of an apartment up the hill to avoid two men who had burst in with shotguns. based on what he told them, along with information from two others in the unit, franklin put out a description of the men and their vehicle. state police spotted the suspects'

after. >> trooper first class shirley called for backup. other troopers and franklin police responded, and we apprehended three suspects in a vehicle that had been stolen out of boscawen, so they obtained that vehicle. >> 18-year-olds dominic ferrari and trent mcdonald face charges. 19-year-old tasha lebeau is charged with being accomplis ce. the car they were in was stolen. the victim was med-flighted to dartmouth hospital. he' s listed in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries. coming up at 6:00, we hear from the woman who first spotted him and learn why police are calling this a good day. live in the newsroom jennifer , crompton, wmur news 9. stephanie: a much calmer day today in keene after a gas

and vermont busy throught the day saturday and into the early morning hours. wmur' s suzanne roantree has the latest on the emergency that affected more than 1200 liberty utility customers. suzanne: just after 9:00 saturday morning, liberty utilities says that there was a malfunction at the gas plant where propane and air are mixed. as a result, pure propane was sent to 1,250 customers in keene which can release deadly amounts of carbon monoxide when burned. more than 60 fire departments from new hampshire and vermont responded to the emergency checking homes and shutting off the gas to any house with a high c.o. level. crews responded to more than 100 calls for a gas odor or symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure. at least five people were treated for carbon monoxide symptoms. the gas emergency was ended at 2:00 this morning. a spokesman for liberty utility

emergency and fully expect the governor to call for investigation. live in the studio, suzanne roantree, wmur news 9. stephanie: thank you. a 14-year-old was airlifted after falling off a cliff. fish and game says the 14-year-old was taking pictures on the top of the cliff when he slipped and fell 150 feet. he was airlifted to a hospital to be treated. fish and game have not released the extent of his injuries. >> of course we have to do more to incentize profit sharing like we see with market basket right here in new hampshire and new england, where all of the employees get a chance to share in the profits. [applause] >> let me applaud my colleagues up here, because i think frankly, maybe i' m wrong, but on our worst day, i think we have a lot more to offer the american people than the right wing [applause] republican debate the other

and you heard a lot of fear. well, they can have their anger and they can have their fear. but anger and fear never built adam: last night' s democratic debate is in the rearview mirror, and the candidates are not scheduled to face off again here in new hampshire before primary day, seven weeks away. while there will be a short break for the holidays, today ll be ready for the home stretch. it was a late night for first-in-the-nation democrats. the signage may not have been able to withstand the big debate, but all three democratic campaigns are projecting confidence. >> we' re feeling that we have a real opportunity to win here in new hampshire. i think we' re closing the gap in i think we' re creating a whole lot of excitement on the ground. re bringing a lot of new people into the political process. i think if we win in new know what? i think we have a road to victory and may be pulling off one of the big political upsets in modern american history. adam the clinton camp is feeling : good, too. they went wild in manchester saturday night after a surprise

s tavern. expect to see a little more of him here in the coming weeks. >> there are very few people in america that understand america more and are more persuasive than bill clinton, and he is obviously a really strong advocate for his wife. adam: on the campaign trail sunday in hopkinton, martin o' malley took questions from voters at the historic town hall. the former maryland governor feels there' s still plenty of time left for a break-out moment. >> history' s full of examples of candidates who were victorious at the same place that i am at this point in the run-up. people in new hampshire make up their minds late. but when they do, they make up their own mind. and nobody tells them how to vote. adam: abc' s cokie roberts, veteran of many a new hampshire primary, says expect a bit of a lull around christmas and new year' s and then a sprint to the finish. >> it will start again in earnest on january 3, and then it' s all out because iowa is february 1 and new hampshire is

and off we go. adam: the final democratic debate before the primary is set for january 17 in north carolina. that would be the same sunday as the divisional round of the nfl playoffs, potentially a patriots game day. three republican candidates are making their way around the state today. new jersey governor chris christie is in the middle of a four-day trip. ohio governor john kasich is kicking off a two-day trip to dr. ben carson is making his way through the granite state this weekend. he made stops in keene and nashua today, and he will be making stops in manchestetr and concord tomorrow. wmur' s kristen carosa has more from his stop at keene state. kristen: today' s town hall was hosted by the american democracy project, a campus initiative focused on preparing students to be informed, engaged citizens. the event drew in a large crowd of all ages. more than 200 people packed into the young student center at keene state college for the event. carson' s last visit to new

since that time, he has been slipping in the polls. despite that, he says he is the right choice. he discussed the national debt, the economy, and taking down the current administration. carson then attacked the leading democratic candidates. dr. ben carson: bernie sanders and hillary clinton will tell you the income gap is spreading because of the evil rich people, and if we just take their money and redistribute it, everything will be fine. of course, it doesn' t work that way. kristen: during the town hall, carson took questions from the crowd. he addressed the cost of prescription drugs, common core, and immigration. as we speak, he' s attending a meeting in nashua. live in the studio kristen , carosa, wmur news 9 . adam: chris christie is hitting the road on this sunday, halfway through a four-day new hampshire bus tour. the new jersey governor started his morning at liberty house in manchester speaking with homeless veterans. christie says the well-being of vets is a priority for him, not

also as a candidate. the governor apparently watched last night' s democratic debate and said he was left wondering about the price tag for all of those proposals. >> i' m going to be fascinated to see how they' re going to pay for all that stuff. taxes on everybody, more taxes on corporations, more taxes on individuals, more taxes on the middle class. the american people are going to have a real clear choice come next fall, so we' ll see how that goes. adam: right now, governor christie is holding a town hall in peterborough. tomorrow, he' s scheduled to hold events in hollis, pelham, and new london. and you can find the latest to our website, wmur.com/politics. stephanie: it definitely feels here' s a live look up in colebrook, where you can see the snow that fell overnight. but the winter weather isn' t let' s head over to meteorologist hayley lapoint for the forecast. hayley: this is going to be a crazy week. it will not look or feel like christmas because we have mild air coming in.

cardboard, paper, and a household timer and did not contain any explosives. the interior cabinet secretary of kenya says all passengers were evacuated safely. >> the investigation is still continuing. a few passengers of concern are being interrogated to find out exactly what has caused this. stephanie: kenyan authorities say 459 passengers and 14 crew members were onboard. we are working on more for news 9 at 5:00. adam: john kasich and his wife tonight. prioritize in the white house. stephanie: the patriots host at the titans today. jason will have highlights in sports. >> more than 100 troops returned

behind every successful elected to be a very supportive and smart and helpful spouse. what does that mean when you' re running for president as a couple? >> it means there are two people that need to do two different jobs. i spend a lot of time taking care of the family and making sure everything is running well at home while he is in new hampshire. i think this is his 18th visit. it is a team effort. adam: what is your wife' s support me to you on the trail? >> she is teaching the girls to drive, which is really good. i don' t know that i can do that very well. front. she is an independent person. she does her thing. m thrilled to have her here. my daughters are here as well. it is great to have them out. it is really fun. time.

that has been great, as the first lady that she is willing to help people who are sometimes not the people people pay attention to. adam: one of the issues you have both prioritized in ohio is fighting human trafficking. the report delivered to the task force in 2012 indicated one of the biggest problems is awareness of this issue, public awareness. how do you attack that part of it and what would you do in the white house? what would be a priority for human trafficking? >> at home, to me it is disgusting in this day and age people are buying and selling other human beings. what i try to do is support programs raising awareness that this happens. not just in the united states, not just in ohio, but in our own communities and neighborhoods. i try to support programs building awareness of this problem in our own neighborhoods. >> we treat the women as victims, not as offenders.

a lot of times people who were forced into this, dragged into it, and captain it -- kept in it, they are not perpetrators. they are victims. we throw the book at the people behind him. a lot of these women say thank god my life has been saved, thank you for the awareness and thank you for what you are doing to allow us to get on our feet and be successful. adam: governor, how do you change the dynamic in the republican race? >> i think it is town halls. my view in new hampshire is people get a chance to see you. they don' t pay that much attention to anything other than the measure your leadership qualities. i am a positive person with a lot of experience. when it comes to jobs or national security, i have been involved in all of it and been successful. you have to let people see your heart and make a determination if they think you are a person that could lead this country. adam: tell us where you' re

16, 17 degrees in stewartstown. they have snow on the ground. a couple of inches fell over the past 24 hours. that was clear skies, temperatures are really chilly in those locations. clouds on their way. they will thicken up overnight. not much happening west. not much rain. cover. in these clouds, very mild air. each day will be warmer than the last. tomorrow we will crack 40 degrees again. by midweek, we are talking 50' s and 60' s in some communities by christmas eve. here is how things go on futurecast. passing clouds tonight. thickening up after 4:00 in the morning. it will be cold between now until midnight. that will be the coldest part of the night. into the early morning hours, temperatures might spike up a couple of degrees.

new hampshire families and just in time for the holidays. 115 soldiers arrived under an american flag at the manchester armory sunday afternoon. they were embraced by family and friends anxiously awaiting them inside. in the hatcher national guardsmen from the third battalion one 97th artillery regiment just finished a nine-month the planet. they ran artillery focused training in the middle east in support of operation spartan shield. the troops spent two weeks debriefing in texas and now they are thrilled to be reunited with their families who they have not seen for many months. >> my father-in-law came over and grabbed me. i saw my son for the first time in nine months and my wife. it is truly a blessing. honestly, it is a better feeling than the first one. i am just hateful for family -- i am just thankful for family and friends who have supported us.

>> some soldiers are still overseas. the rest of the battalion is expected back sometime around the new year. mike cronin wmur news 9. stephanie: the man who loaned the gun used by the boston marathon bombers to kill m.i.t. officer sean collier will be sentenced this week. stephen silva will be sentenced on drug and gun charges tuesday in u.s. district court. during dzhokar tsarnaev' s trial, silva testified that he let tsarnaev borrow the gun two months before the bombings. he said tsarnaev wanted it to rob students at the university of rhode island. adam: a four-year-old boy killed in a fire in massachusetts and three other people hurt by the flames. the fire broke out late last night. investigators are searching for the cause. frank holland reports. >> he was always happy. no matter what, he was always happy. >> a teddy bear left outside the house five-year-old caleb called home before he lost his life in

29 in concord. 38 in manchester. 35 in nashua. clear skies across much of the state at the moment. look at the clouds starting to stream in. quickly our temperatures will continue to drop tonight. if you' re heading out now to do last minute christmas shopping with a lot of the stores open late, temperatures falling through the 20' s by midnight. some of us may be seeing teens with increasing clouds. if you have travel plans, you should not have problems traveling. you may need shorts on christmas eve. it will be warm. the forecast coming up. adam: you' ve heard of ' stuff a bus' or ' stuff a cruiser' perhaps. how about, ' stuff a crime scene van' ? portsmouth police set up their ' five-o food drive' in front of the market basket on woodbury avenue on saturday. officers handed shoppers a wish list of items to benefit the

as the crime scene van filled with donated items, people also walked up with cash and checks. >> our relief association, as well as a couple other agencies nearby, had donated money. i was inside doing a little shopping spree myself. and people behind me were like, ' wait a minute, officer. i have some stuff for you as well.' so the outpouring of support has been pretty overwhelming. adam: all the proceeds were delivered to the seacoast family food pantry so the items could be ready for distribution as soon as possible. stephanie that is a good idea. still to come on news 9 at 5:30. adam: gold medalist hannah kearney is heading to new hampshire. find out where you could hit the trails with the olympic skier in "escape outside." stephanie: plus, "star wars"

stephanie: the annual christmas bird count is underway and hannah kearney is coming for a ski weekend in waterville valley. the christmas bird count is divided into daily circles. there are 21 count circles around the state and each one will be surveyed through january 5. you can find a full list of the state' s christmas bird counts on our website. prescott farm in laconia is holding an education night walk on the winter solstice. the walk is this tuesday, december 22. this is the first year the farm has offered a winter solstice walk. it cost $10 per person or $8 for members. and olympic gold medalist hannah

still a lot of people out on this sunday evening, probably doing shopping getting ready for the busy holiday week coming up. look at the temperatures. they are a lot colder. 29 in concord now. 28 in laconia. we have fallen into the teens up north and 20' s in berlin and white field where it is 22. the winds were not cranking as much so it was bearable outside. here is the thing. this week is going to be incredibly warm. this is something no one will have likely seen ever since we had been collecting data in terms of temperatures. the temperatures when we get to christmas eve will smash records that are old and in the 50' s. it looks like many of us will

as we lead up to christmas eve, temperatures will be very mild, above the average high of 35. each day warmer than the last. christmas eve looks like we will really pump in the warm air. the average high of 34 will be well above that thursday. concord, we are expecting 62. manchester and nashua and salem could get close to 65. boston could get close to 70. this is crazy. the record high for that date was set in 2003 of 54 degrees in concord. we will see where we end up landing. it looks very one for santa' s arrival. clouds on the increase tonight. with clear skies, temperatures plummeting. overnight with clouds increasing, that will limit how far the temperatures can go. in the central u.s. and eastern half, you can see lots of clouds but not much precipitation. we have snow showers in canada.

as the system moves through, we will get extra cloud cover and the next couple of days. eventually some rain showers. the big deal will be the warm air that comes with these clouds and air mass moving in. overnight tonight, increasing clouds, especially by daybreak. it will probably be overcast much of the day tomorrow. there will be some breaks where we might see sunshine. up north in the afternoon, there could be showers. of rain showers. tuesday, another cloudy day. there will be the chance of more scattered showers primarily hampshire. wednesday in the morning, that is our best chance of seeing some sunshine. here are your overnight temperatures tonight. 20, berlin. 21 in concord. 27 in manchester. tomorrow morning. s

it does not flow well. great exercise, but it does not flow well. it is not practical. >> i' m going to do everything in my power to alleviate some of the stress of jumping from one end of the room to the other with her businesses. >> she can also help her clients organize their filing. >> you know what you are doing? >> this is my organized chaos. >> ok. >> another area in need of attention, her closet. it is hard to find anything. >> sometimes, i think it can paralyze you. you don' t know where to begin. i tell people clutter is anything that gets in the way of live. >> clients find it easier to go through items when she is there. >> especially with their clothing, if you hold it and they don' them to let go of things. people get overwhelmed thinking

they look at everything. if you take one small project at a time, it makes it a lot easier. >> her business takes on projects big and small, and she is able to work with any budget. >> the majority of my clients have homework in between sessions. that is how we keep the cost down. >> i want to feel? >> calm. >> sometimes you get stuck in your own mind. if you have a second set of eyes to look at things, it is like, why didn' t i think of that? here is the new playroom. we found a home for everything, which i did not think you could do, but we did it. we took some of these toys and we are going to rotate them out. once a month, we will switch out. it will be like new toys.
