sean: new jersey is close to becoming the second state to raise the smoking age to 21. lawmakers have passed a bill. governor chris christie has until next tuesday to decide whether to sign the bill. hawaii raised the smoking age. 8 other states are continuing -- considering the move. oil prices briefly dropped below $30 per barrel last year for the first time in 12 years. prices are down 19% this year. that is a far cry from the nearly $108 per barrel last june. that is helping keep gas prices low. parts of the country could see gas for one dollar per gallon this year. remember back then? $.99 per gallon. erin: if you travel a lot for work, you are saving a 10 of money. kevin: i thought the whole

from the wzid traffic network, i' m deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. sean: thanks. the state fire marshal is investigating a deadly fire in grafton. erin: the fire broke out at an historic church. one man was killed in the blaze, but they are not releasing his identity. ray brewer joins us live. ray: firefighters say they weren' t able to go inside the church until hours after arriving on the scene because of structural concerns. the old church built more than 200 years ago. around 11:00 a.m. on tuesday, firefighters were called to this old church for the report of a fire. flames severely damage to the church, which has stood since 1798. inside, fire marshals discovered the body of a man.

ray: a detour on route 4 will remain in place as investigators resume their search for a cause. erin: thank you. a search is underway for a truck driver who hit a police cruiser on i-89 and took off from the scene. it happened on the southbound side of highway 89 in warner. a tractor-trailer that was going to fast for the conditions drove by and hit a cruiser. the impact push the cruiser into the median. police say the truck driver initially pulled over, but then fled the scene. sean: a man from bow was killed yesterday morning on an accident in i-93. the victim, 77-year-old leonard chaisson, was driving north when he failed to negotiate a turn. his car went off the road and

erin: the state supreme court has denied an appeal by a plaistow man convicted of abusing the child of his former girlfriend. roland dow claimed the trial judge should not have allowed a domestic violence expert to take the stand and should not have allowed the boy' s mother, jessica linscott, to testify about abuse she threatened -- experience that his hands. >> the defendant is a very violent person and convicted violent acts against a three-year-old child. erin: he is serving 25.5-67 years in prison. sean: a package of bills to deal with the new hampshire kobe would crisis is on track to land on the governor' s desk by next week. governor maggie hassan testified yesterday at a joint public hearing.

the snow showers continue to go northwest to southeast. white mountains, great north woods, even some snow going through the monadnock region. it is not just the north country. temperatures this evening will be in the single digits and teens. the snow showers continue up north. areas of light snow could produce a half inch of snow in addition to what you have already seen. a couple of the southern areas, especially as you get up in elevation, continuing to see temperatures in the upper range of the teens. it is going to come with a pretty good wind. through the afternoon, it is going to feel colder.
