authorities spent time near cambridge and stage roads and it appears the victim was hit by an suv. with snow flying again, state police have an important reminder for drivers -- clear all of the ice and snow off of your vehicles. it can result in a fine of up to $1000 for a second offense. erin: investigators from the state fire marshal' s office will be back in grafton trying to figure out what caused a deadly fire in an historic church building. ray brewer is here now. do we know anything about the victim? ray: very little. authorities are saying they found the body of a man, but they are not releasing his name. the church has stood on the town

home to an active congregation. a new owner purchased the property in recent years with the goal of forming a new church called "peaceful assembly." neighbors say a man had been living in the back part of the church. >> he would be out in the yard all the time. messing with his stuff out there. he had displays and christmas things at christmas time and was a really nice guy. to tear down the building for the time being. they are trying to salvage some historical features, including the belltower. there will be a detour on route 4 in place this morning as investigators continue to look for a cause. sean: thanks, ray. 10 u.s. sailors held in iran overnight have been freed this morning. the revolutionary guard apprehended the sailors after

iranian waters. iran tried to prove that the sailors were snooping. the u.s. military has not confirmed the release, but says the two boats encountered mechanical problems during a training mission. that situation started unfolding hours before president obama' s final state of the union address . the president did not shy away from addressing the candidates hoping to replace him. stephanie rama' s reports. >> the president of the united states. stephanie: this was it. president obama' s last state of the union address. he ignore knowledge the 2016 election and the horse race in the early primary states. >> for this final one, i' m going to try to make it a little shorter. i know some of you are antsy to get back to iowa. from the entire congressional delegation at wmur.com. a barrington man has been sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay back $13,000 he stole from a local labor union. 37-year-old gregory paradis pleaded guilty in federal court. he was the president and senior steward of the seabrook nuclear officers association in 2011 and 2012, when he used a union debit card to buy personal items totaling more than $13,000. sean: the man serving life in prison for raping and killing a unh student is appealing his conviction. seth mazzaglia was convicted in 2014. only a rejected version of the motion to appeal is available because it is being appealed under seal.

vermont to discuss dewey' s mills pond. it is being choked off by silt currently. officials are considering letting the pond simply become part of the nearby river again. the national guard has been activated in the city of flint, michigan to help deal with another water crisis. soldiers will be helping to hand out bottled water and filter is because the tap water is contaminated with lead. a public emergency was declared back in october, but people are being told not to drink the water at all until the system is cleaned. erin: lawmakers in hawaii are turning to a local tradition as a possible way to help the homeless. there is a proposal to build grass huts as homeless housing. they were a traditional style of

supporters say they are sturdy and environmentally friendly. opponents claim they are a fire hazard. new jersey is one step closer to becoming the second state to raise the smoking age to 21. lawmakers in the garden state have passed a bill that would find retailers up to $1000 if they sell cigarettes, tobacco products, or e-cigarettes 21 under 21. governor chris christie has yet to sign the bill. hawaii already raised the smoking age. sean: oil prices briefly dropped below $30 per barrel yesterday. prices are down 19% this year. it is a far cry from the nearly $108 per barrel last june. that is helping to keep gas prices low. parts of the country could see

we have been watching areas of light snow, which continue to go through the monadnock region. we are seeing light snow and additional accumulation up through the white mountains. fair skies continue. friday, highs in the lower and mid 30' s. right now, it looks like snow or a mixture of rain and snow. clouds and sun for central and southern areas. cold air starts to ride in tonight. if you are headed up north, the light snow continues with an additional light snow cover.

temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 20' s. gusty westerly winds already gusting over 20 miles per hour. highs in the 20' s are going to feel more like the single-digit and teens into the afternoon. we drop into the single digits and teens. from there, we are looking at partly sunny skies with a very weak disturbance moving through tomorrow with partial sunshine. there may be flurries or a snow shower. a good deal of sunshine with highs in the upper 20' s or 30' s. the clouds start to move in later friday evening ahead of the next system that has not really gotten going now. that will pass to our southeast saturday afternoon. that would be our best chance

the timeline centers around sunrise to sunset on saturday, but who sees that mixture of rain and snow versus who sees plain snow is still up for debate depending on the track of the system that has not developed much yet. temperatures in the 20' s today, dropping into the teens later tonight. temperatures continue to cool off over the next couple of days with the gusty wind and then warming up a little bit ahead of the next system, which is slated for saturday. much colder for the beginning of next week. erin: we do want to check our top stories. ray: a church in grafton catches on fire -- leading to a grim a man' s body inside the church. the church was not home to an active congregation. a new owner purchased the the town started the process to dispute over unpaid taxes.

s deb davidson. good wednesday morning. deb: good wednesday morning. the road conditions are beginning to improve as the crews have been cleaning them up all night and into the morning. we do have spots of heavy congestion right now 89 southbound at the bow junction. it is heavier than it normally is at this time of the morning. 93 south is slow at the hooksett tolls and then at the split with 293 in hooksett. the spalding has been a very the way up to rochester. do allow extra time if you are commuting in that stretch of the state. we are seeing pockets of heavy congestion on interstate 95. from the wzid traffic network, i' m deb davidson for 95.7 wzid.

fire in grafton. erin: the fire broke out at an historic church yesterday. one man was killed yesterday in the blaze, but they are not time. ray brewer is live to explain. ray: fire fighters telling us they were not able to go inside the church until hours after arriving on the scene of the structural concerns. around 11:00 a.m. on tuesday, firefighters were called to this old church on grafton' s town green for the report of a fire. within a few hours, flames said severely damaged the church. inside, firefighters discovered the body of a man. >> we are not in a position to release any details about the victim at this point. it is a male victim.

ray: both of his cars are still on the property. >> he would be in the yard all the time messing with his stuff. he had displays and christmas things at christmas time. he was a really nice guy. ray: a new owner purchased the old building about five years ago and formed a board of directors to become a church called "peaceful assembly." just last week, the town made the first move to take back the building because of a dispute over unpaid taxes. fire investigators must figure out how the deadly fire started at this grafted landmark and what can be salvaged. >> the belltower is intact and there is an old, historic bell inside of it. holding the building together. sean: there will be a detour around the fire scene on route 4 around grafton.

erin: a search is underway for a truck driver who hit a police cruiser and took off from the scene on i-89. it happened in warner on the southbound side. a tractor-trailer going to fast for the conditions drove by a parked cruiser and hit it. the impact pushed the cruiser into the median. the trooper was inside at the time and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. the truck driver initially pulled over, but then fled the scene. it is described as a white, box -type trailer with a canadian license plate. sean: a man from bow was killed in an accident yesterday. the victim, 77-year-old leonard chaisson, failed to negotiate a turn, went off the road, and slammed into a tree. erin: the state supreme court has denied an appeal by a plaistow man convicted of

roland dow claimed that a domestic violence expert should not have taken the stand and that his former girlfriend take the stand to testify about hands. >> the defendant is a very violent person and committed very violent acts, unspeakable child. erin: dow is serving 25.5-67 years in prison. sean: a package of bills to deal with the opioid crisis is on track to land on the governor' s desk next week. governor maggie hassan testified at a special joint public hearing in concord yesterday. the new measures called for fentanyl to be listed among the controlled drugs. the substance abuse epidemic

erin: house lawmakers have overwhelmingly approved legislation that aims to punish north korea for conducting its latest nuclear test. they voted last night to approve the north korea sanctions enforcement act to deny the country the hard currency it needs for developing nuclear warheads and the long range missiles needed to deliver them. sean: a federal appeals court has ruled that wearing unearned military medals is a part of free speech. alvin joe swisher was convicted in 2007 after wearing a purple heart he did not earn while testifying in a criminal case. on our facebook page, we are asking what you think and many people seem to be pretty upset.

timothy writes that it should be grounds for serious jail time. let us know what you think. erin: a barista in washington state died after suffering serious injuries when her coffee stand exploded. the blast happened so quickly that the victim, courtney campbell, never had a chance to escape. she leaves behind two young daughters. the propane tank may have played a role. they also found april -- portable heater inside the coffee stand. sean: three people suffered minor injuries when the shelves inside a party store in florida collapsed. witnesses say the shelves fell over like dominoes. >> it was just like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. >> i saw one woman standing there very shaken up. all of the shelves were down.

there with my son. sean: it is not clear what caused the shelves to collapse. erin: the st. louis rams are going to a new home after nfl owners voted to allow them to move to a new stadium just outside los angeles. the move ends the nfl' s 21-year absence from the second-largest media market in the nation. the san diego chargers will have the option to share the new facility that will open in 2019. the oakland raiders were left out of the deal. the raiders could still move to l.a. if the chargers choose not to move. sean: the mystery surrounding chandler jones after he paid a visit to the hospital on sunday. a police log says a man identified as jones entered the department for a medical emergency sunday morning. it is unclear what his condition was, but he has since been released and reported to monday'

still areas of light snow out west. we start off early this morning with partly cloudy skies in central and southern areas of the state. the big story into the afternoon is going to be the wind, which will be gusting over 30-35 miles per hour. temperatures are going to feel much colder than the 20' s. single-digit and teens into the afternoon. we have an additional inch of snow as a possibility from the white mountains through the great north woods. the wind will be breezy later tonight. we will start to take the edge off the wind. it is going to be a very cold start tomorrow. there will be a lot of areas with wind chills at or below zero. i think we continue to go through the day with very small additional accumulation.

southern half of the state. we are going to continue to see temperatures climb by just a couple of degrees with a little bit of sunshine. you are going to have that wind which continues to bring in the colder air and produce a pretty good windchill into the afternoon. these are the sustained winds. we will have the gusts through the day with temperatures middling around in the 20' s. the light snow starts to with a railway later this afternoon as the wind relaxes later this evening. we should not see much more in the way of any snow showers. tomorrow and friday, we are expecting a very weak area of high pressure coming through. otherwise, partly sunny with highs in the 20' s. beyond that system, we get back s. later today. the timing of the clouds looks

it looks like that system could either be a pretty decent accumulating snow or snow in central and northern areas and a wintry mix of rain and snow in southern areas of the state. that is what we will be tracking. it has not really gotten going in the gulf of mexico. once it develops, we will have a better idea of the exact track with the computer maps by then. temperatures are in the 20' s out there today. the winds will be gusting over 35 miles per hour. we have a little bounce above freezing for a few hours on friday. arrives. sunrise to sunset is a pretty saturday. i don' t think we are looking at in icing situation. that is the best scenario. involved in this.
