s one of the places where someone bought a winning powerball ticket that will get a share of the record-breaking one $1.6 jackpot. billion good afternoon. i' m adam sexton. so far, none of the big winners have come forward. the three winning tickets were sold in florida, los angeles, and tennessee. but just who the lucky people are remains unknown. here in new hampshire, we have a $50,000 winner. wmur' s ray brewer joins us live, re here, i' m guessing it wasn' t you. ray: what, i love my job, adam. of course i would be here. powerball fever was definitely sweeping the 44 states, two territories, and the nation' s capital where the game is played, and new hampshire was not immune. in answer to your question, no, i did not win the $50,000. nearly two million tickets were sold between sunday and wednesday' s drawing, far in excess of the average ticket

a week. -- 400,000 to 700,000 a week. in advance of the record powerball jackpot, stores in new tickets at a record rate. doug davidson: i bought about eight of them for my relatives in new york and colorado, and i $8. ray: shoppers at this hannafords check their tickets, as the store sold a $50,000 winner. but in three places across the country, people were no doubt triple checking their tickets. >> chino hills. chino hills. chino hills. ray: crowds rushed to this 7-eleven in southern california, one of three stores to sell a ticket that matched all the numbers. >> it' s almost like we won, even though we didn' t because our community won. ray: the other winning tickets were sold in munford, tennessee and melbourne beach, florida. while granite staters didn' t win millions, new hampshire stores did sell tickets worth almost $700,000 in prize money. and while the big jackpot is gone, the next drawing is worth an estimated $40 million, which doesn' t sound too bad to some. michael boucher: i would be happy with $5 million right now.

alan rickman: turn to page 394. adam: he was the bad guy with a memorable voice. today, the entertainment world is mourning the death of british actor alan rickman. rickman' s family said that the actor died after an extended battle with cancer. he was known for his role as hans gruber in "die hard" and professor snape in the "harry potter" series. j.k. rowling expressed her condolences on twitter today saying, "there are no words to express how shocked and devastated i am to hear of alan rickman' s death. he was a magnificent actor and a wonderful man."

wind, warmer than it was yesterday when it was gusting over 35 miles an hour. a couple of snow showers or flurries for the afternoon with the occasional overcast. a lot of those will be confined to the northern half of the state with partly cloudy skies again tonight, we drop back to the single digits and teens. clouds work their way into tomorrow. temperatures tomorrow will go anywhere from 28 to 36. the clouds only get thicker friday evening and early saturday. this is where we tell you that futurecast is one of eight or nine different computer mouse that we look at. this one probably gives you the most precipitation of all the nine maps that we look at. the timeline from just around sunrise on saturday, the chance of a little bit of light snow or light mix, and then ending probably sometime in the afternoon. as it stands now, it looks like the happiest portion of the system should stay far enough to ourselves. there are just a couple of those nine maps hinting at bigger snow
