hayley: snow is arriving in new hampshire. we are taking a live look right now at manchester, were some flurries are falling. they could gust tonight and tomorrow morning, slowing you down on the road. good evening and thanks for joining us. mike haddad tells us how much snow we are going to get. mike: it is not going to be a whole lot. not a foot or anything, 1-3 can' t be ruled out between now and the day tomorrow. we have some very light snow falling over parts of a new hampshire area. it goes all the way into the merrimack valley and toward the coast. steady smell in central and western massachusetts and more offshore. it will tend to consolidate around southeastern new hampshire, and at the same time snow showers and squalls build it from western new york. between now and late morning tomorrow, snow showers and schools and temperatures at or

kristen carosa, wmur news 9. stephanie: thank you. developing now, the red cross is helping more than a dozen people after fire in north conway. officials say it displaced 20 people. the fire broke out in north conway this afternoon. fire officials are not releasing information at this time. in commitment 2016 coverage, the democratic presidential candidates faced off tonight in their final debate before the iowa caucuses. the nbc news debate comes as hillary clinton and bernie sanders are locked in close races in iowa and new hampshire. sally kidd is in washington with a recap. sally: stephanie, just hours before tonight' s debate, a surprise from the sanders camp. he released the details of his universal health care plan, which hillary clinton pounced on. >> that is nonsense. >> to tear it up and start over again --

from my perspective, i have no intention of responding in kind. stephanie: he had been faulting trump for having "new york values." the tour continues tomorrow. republican john kasich is taking us a media momentum in the granite state. this morning, a local paper endorsed the governor,. touting his experience -- the governor, touting his experience. it said he does not appear to have been infected by the culture of washington. yesterday, kasich also picked up the endorsement of two other papers. as we mentioned, senator cruz is in the granite state through thursday, but other candidates will be here as well. donald trump is back tomorrow for an event in concord. john kasich will make stops in plymouth, hanover, and lebanon tomorrow. for the latest, head over to the politics section of our website, wmur.com.

hospital after being stabbed this afternoon. hudson police say they responded to a man suffering from a stab wound to his torso around 3:00 today. officers arrested a 35-year-old in nashua. he' s charged with first-degree assault and is being held at valley street jail. the victim is expected to be ok. after a monthlong indecent exposure investigation a man turned himself in. thomas massie exposed himself to a victim and is facing seven lewdness. he was released on $10,000 bail march 1. investigators do not believe that any children were involved. a town official is apologizing a public meeting. on friday, the budget committee chair jorge mesa was discussing school safety when he

he said "stupidly, i used excessively stupid language. it is inexcusable and i apologize." he has been banned from schools, playgrounds, and feels on hampstead. a woman was arrested and charged with reckless driving and new hampton today after police clocks are going over 100 miles per hour. officers say she was driving north on the highland when a police helicopter spotted her speeding. she was pulled over and arrested without incident. dartmouth college says that generous donations will allow the school to expand its curriculum. the school received $100 million to establish 10 new academic clusters focusing on urgent world challenges. topics that they played to concentrate on include but are not limited to cyber security, health care, little poverty, and engineering challenges in cold regions. you can' t go to go back to the

they are banning hoverboard on campus. the dean of students says they are concerned about the safety of the wheel devices which mimick hoverboard. the u.s. consumer product safety commission has investigated 20 hoverboard related fires after some burst into flames. more than 30 universities have banned them. warm temperatures this winter or hurting businesses that rely on the cold. there is still open water on most of the lake after the warmest december on record. it is hard to find ice. tim moore runs a chartered ice fishing trip company. the takes a black before christmas, but not this year. >> i don' t remember it being like this. usually we have a small start and it will get cold but we get the ice we need. this year it is not happening. stephanie: the water temperature is 37 degrees, and temperatures

degrees above normal. these dangers on and around the lake have also forced the dogsled race to be postponed. an avalanche at tuckerman ravine sent one person to the hospital. dispatch says fire services help to bring an injured man down not washington. he is expected to be ok. a worker at waterville valley rescued a child falling from a ski lift. waterville valley says a girl was writing the lift with her mom when she slept and was hanging from the chair. the director of lift operations managed to catch the girl as she felt. thanks to his quick thinking, they are both going to be ok. coming up, american prisoners are sent to return home after the u.s. reaches a deal with iran. why they will have to stay in germany for now. a homeless man is being reunited with his family thanks to social media. the miracle message that is

emergency responders say one of the twisters struck a couple' s mobile home and kill them. their son was able to climb out of the debris and rescue his children. >> i woke up this morning and lost a family friend and neighbor. stephanie: a second tornado touched down 16 miles south of the first, dropping to people in their home. rescuers had to lift a portion of collapsed roof in order to reach one of the victims. reunited with his family thanks to the campaign on social media. today he talked to his stepsister for the first time. called miracle messages. we first brought you the story in october, when kevin adler recorded a short video of dale connection online. one viewer saw the story and realized it really was dale.

i was kind of out of place. i didn' t know what to say. i found out i have a new niece. stephanie: she says she was in disbelief, thinking he had passed away. she lives in groton, and they plan to meet soon. folks in mount washington after some incredible views today. the snow coaches are running right now, bringing people up above the tree line at 4200 feet. you can choose to snowshoe, ski, or ride down the mountain. tours are daily until march. kids took off on sleds today as part of the world snow day in claremont. they are steerable toboggans. they try to break the speed record of 35 miles per hour, but they say conditions weren' t adequate or save the cause of the lack of snow on the steepest

the popular ice castles are returning to lincoln this week. the scenic railroads are once again hosting the utah-based ice castles. the company thought they would have to push the opening back to february, but today we have learned they will open this friday. this is one of three ice castles in america, and includes a frozen throne. if weather permits, it will stay open through march. >> now, mike haddad with your storm watch nine forecast. mike: lots of changes and a fairly nice sunday. as you can see, a little bit of partial sun, clouds building in. some area roadways, especially in southern parts of the state, dealing with a bit of a coating of light snow. no snow showers -- though snow showers will tend to increase, a couple schools could walk wo work in. you will want to give yourself

after that, the coldest stretch so for this evening -- especially when you factor in the temperature -- wind chill is certainly a big factor tomorrow afternoon and into tuesday in a good part of wednesday. next on chancellor come in friday and saturday next week. still way out there, but it looks like it will be a strong coastal storm. the question is what type of impact will it have on new hampshire. right now, snow showers are beginning to fill in. a good part of southern new hampshire with light snow, a couple of moderate first. in terms of snowfall amounts, 2-3 inch accumulation. the best bet may be up to 4 inches in spots. also across the mountains to the north. that is in the cards as we advance through tonight and tomorrow. notice the approaching front through upstate new york has with a narrow band of heavy-duty squalls that will likely affect us, unfortunately in time for the morning commute.

issues and a quick inch of snow that will make conditions tough on the roads. temperatures right now, teens and 20' s, close to the norm. not a major cool down. tonight we only fall into the mid to upper teens. a relatively mild overnight. but tomorrow, temperatures don' t go anywhere. a front approaches quickly after the snow showers and schools exit by midday. the wind picks up, and that will begin to drive in much colder air. look at the timeline. snow showers and embedded squalls through the morning commute into the early afternoon. -- right into tomorrow and early on tuesday. then it dries out in southern new hampshire and we will eventually see the clearing up north.

pinpoint whether you will get two or three or four, but on average it is two or three inches expected. four inches down in southeastern new hampshire due to the proximity of the ocean and also across the higher terrain into the great north woods. notice what follows behind the snow -- a lot of frigidaire, subzero readings. -- a lot of frigid air, subzero reading. that will be something else beginning tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow morning' s commute looks to be a rough one -- not a whole lot of snow but enough to make it tough. all it takes is a little bit and once we get into the afternoon we break into partial sunshine. the winds crank up and temperatures cool down. a windy and frigid tuesday, win still busy on wednesday before they diminish, thursday a flurry.

jason: bruins got a good win last night, scoring was 12 minutes to go in the third to break a tie, that goal was disallowed and the play was ruled offside is. but he would still get the game-winner, this time with 47 seconds left in regulation. bruins win 3-2 over the maple leafs. they play in montreal on tuesday. a score on a go-ahead layup with 3.9 seconds left to help the celtics beat the wizards, 119-117. he finished with 22 points for the night while isaiah thomas led in scores with 32.
