hampshire like we do. now wmur "news 9 daybreak." erin: good morning to you on friday. thanks for joining us. i'm erin fehlau. sean: we made it through another week. almost. yesterday out there a beautiful day. looks like today more of the same? kevin: i think we have a few more clouds. temperatures will be fairly similar to yesterday which is in the 30's to near 40. we start off with quite a few clouds filing in. two systems, one located well off shore and scattered snow showers back to the west. those in tandem give us hit-or-miss snow showers. there may be a few spots an inch or less along with the scattered snow country. we'll look ahead to the changes for the weekend coming up. friday morning ride. davidson. good friday morning,

deb: good friday morning. all major roads are moving well. it is a great way to start your commute. we're not seeing any delays on 93 north or south. then again to the split with -- 293 and down to salem. 293 is trouble free from the upper to the lower split. we're not seeing any problems at all at the lane shift between exit five and the everett turnpike. 95 is up to speed in both directions between exit two and one where the left lane does remain closed. we're not seeing any problems if you are starting your commute heading in to massachusetts at this time. all major roads are up to speed as well. the report is brought to you by autofair. i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. sean: developing this morning, police in manchester are investigating a pair of shootings. one on huse road and the

that left two people hurt. erin: there's no indication the cases are connected. it made for a busy night for officers. ray brewer live near the scene and has the latest details. ray: police at this point releasing few details. they certainly were busy. the first shooting happened here on huse road at the townhouse suites behind the mall. they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound that does not appear to be life threatening. the response unit was on the scene as they taped off one entrance as well as a vehicle in the parking lot. about an hour later police were called to another shooting, this time on pine street. one person being taken

we are hoping toluene more information later on this morning. live in manchester, ray brewer. erin: all right. thank you. right now police in middleton are looking for a driver. shots were fired prompting a shelter in place order for residents. two people called 911 just before 6:00 saying they heard a single gunshot after the older gray mitch superb she pulled over. by the time police arrived, they found footprints. they saw people in the area to stay inside. >> we were uncertain if it was a victim or suspect. we secured the area through the assistance to the new hampshire state police canine unit and using thermal images we were able to confirm the person who did go in to the woods had since come out and left. erin: police say they have some forensic evidence. they are still looking

older gray mitsubishi. sean: police are trying to figure out what sparked a fire yesterday. they found heavy fire spreading up to the second floor roof. it took a total of 50 firefighters to put the fire out. one was treated for minor injury. the red cross is helping three people displaced. a nearby charter school was briefly evacuated due to all of the smoke. a man is being treated for serious injuries after being hit by a car. he was in a wheelchair when he was struck between commercial and main streets on interstate 393. no charges have been filed. the case remains under investigation. erin: we are following breaking news from the political front this morning. in an exclusive interview with john distaso, frank giunta says he will run for re-election. he says he has re-paid

owes to his parents as part of the agreement. last year the fec ruled he violated election law by taking obsessive campaign contributions from his parents in 2010. giunta maintains the money came from a family fund. three other candidates have said they are running for his seat. you can read more on the primary source section of wmur.com. sean: donald trump took on the rest of the republican field from affair. he skipped the debate and held his own rally. ted cruz was thrust in him. from des moines. >> it was the final debate before the first votes are cast in iowa. the national front runner was absence. >> let's address the elephant not in the room tonight. reporter: donald trump's influence was felt. >> everyone on the stage is stupid, fat, and

like abortion to immigration. >> you used to support a path for citizenship. reporter: how is this? even after the debate has started they were prepared for the possibility that trump could still arrive. lana zak, abc news, des moines. erin: state lawmakers are considering a bill to decriminalize prostitution in new hampshire. supporters say the goal of the bill is to reduce violence against women. the limit of sexually transmitted diseases. the proposal was introduced by two female representatives and they testified in favor of the bill. sean: the zika virus has continue to spread. a man in massachusetts has been diagnosed. he's expected to make a full recovery.

bonnie johnson is retiring today as an emergency response dispatcher. johnson has been with south western new hampshire district fire mutual aid for 31 years, sending fire and ambulance crews to 77 towns, including vermont. johnson says she remembers the big disasters most like the alstead flood and the 2008 iceberg. she knows how important it is to get people the help they need as fast as possible. >> it is the job. helping people. being involved in things that really matter in their lives. just i love the work. erin: johnson says she's looking forward to retirement so she can take a trip to hawaii and spend time with family and friends. sean: i'm sure she has stories. 5:13. new life for an historic landmark in hooksett.

it could go hand in hand for scattered snow showers today. temperatures will start in the 20's and get back in to the 30's through the afternoon. you can see both systems. the one off shore with the water temperature still in the 40's in the form of rain. you get inland and temperatures are near the freezing mark at the coast. in the 20's to teens inland. the cooler air will -- looks like highs today 30's. then a jump back in to the 40's thereafter. looks like sunday and goes through the first half of next week. all quiet initially as we go from mid-morning on. scattered snow showers are going to start popping up in places. no one particular location over another. if you had to sample the best place you might see an inch, it might be the north country out of this today. temperatures in the 20's to near 30 degrees. there are a few upper teens in some of the lower lying valleys. clouds putting a lid on that. notice the temperatures running 10-20 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. it will feel different

door. the true arctic air remains locked for the time being. we have the quick-moving systems coming out of canada. they are around for a day or so and pull away. temperatures ahead of the system back to the west we'll be in the 30's. then we'll start to drop back later on tonight. most of the snow shower activity that we have scattered around today will be combined later on this evening. looks like we start with sunshine. we'll add clouds. a little band of light snow pushing in the north country later tomorrow evening. that could give you a quick inch or two of accumulation. partial sunshine on sunday. up to the mid 40's. we won't look back. the warmest day could be monday. a couple of southern locations could reach up near 50 degrees. today 30's and scattered snow showers. a fairly light wind to go along with it. extended forecast keeps it mild after tomorrow. we're in the 30's. we get back in to the

sunday. 40's statewide monday. it will come with a chance of rain shower. after a brief break tuesday and systems every two days, we have rain likely for wednesday. temperatures will start to fall off. more true temperatures expected after the front on wednesday. erin: any snow that we have will be washed away by the rain. kevin: there's a chance of that. erin: okay. we want to check our top stories. here's ray brewer. ray: manchester police are investigating a pair of shootings that happened last night. the first one happened on huse road at townhouse suite about ten minutes to 9:00. police found one person suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot. they were called to the shooting on pine street again what appears to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound. there's no indication that the cases are connected in any way. erin: police are looking for a

town prompting a shelter in place order. two people reported hearing a gunshot after a gray mitsubishi was spotted. frank giunta says he will run. he also says he has repaid what he owes to his parents as part of the investigation.

flocking to hawaii to take advantage of the big waves. erin: they are topping out with 50 foot high faces. they are so big no one will try to ride them. officials are warning that only expert and very experienced surfers should venture out in to these waters when they have surf that high. sean: what do i have to give you to get on a wave with a go pro. erin: i'll go to hawaii and report. sean: from the top of the 50 foot face wave. if surfing isn't your thrill, about a sky high glass bottom bridge? erin: they are started installing for the world's longest and highest glass bottom bridge. it is about 1,300 feet long. it hovering over a more than 900 foot vertical top. it will be able to hold 800 people. the bridge should open in may. can you imagine putting that thing together? sean: i know. it is funny. just walking another is scary.

he said he paid back the $355,000. the agreement found that giunta took obsessive campaign contributions from his parents in 2010 whichs a violation of federal election law. now that the money has been repaid he says he feels like he has put the controversy behind him and can focus on running for re-election. read more of his exclusive interview on the primary source section of wmur.com. erin: we're also following a developing story in manchester. police are investigating a pair of shootings. the first shooting took place last night at a hotel on huse road. about an hour later officers responded to another shooting on pine street. ray brewer joins us live. he's near the scene of that first shooting with the details. ray: the first shooting taking place here at townhouse suites which is behind the mall shortly before 9:00. police were called to the scene.

person was wounded but they say the victim's injuries do not appear to be life threatening. they were on the scene for several hours investigating the incident. at this time there's no word on whether or not any arrests have been made. it was about an hour later, 10:00, when officers reported to another shooting. one person was shot. like the first shooting, injuries are not believed to be life threatening. there's no indication connected. live in manchester, ray thanks. we are learning new details about an fbi search at a home in brentwood. court paperwork says the man who owns the house on crawley was trying to buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of ammunition. they say he was involved in anti-government discussions. the fbi says it was

when musso went to a firearm dealer to ask about buys $16,000 worth of ammo, including grenades, gas masks, and rockets. an affidavit she told the agent he was part of a group of people who wanted to bring forth the original constitution. he is now charged with violating a firearms law. erin: they found a credit card skimming device inside a card reader at a gas station. the pump at the irving circle station had been out of service since saturday afternoon. service technician discovered the skimmer after customers complained about an error message when they swiped their cards. police are hoping surveillance cameras can help them track down the culprit. >> they would have to come back, get the information, and essentially recompromise themselves on security erin: goffstown police want to hear from anyone who used pump

midnight and noon last saturday. they say you should contact your bank and let it know your card may have been compromised. sean: a date has been set for the sentencing re-trial of a convicted murder. gary sampson was originally sentenced to death after he pleaded guilty to carjacking and killing two men in massachusetts during a crime spree in 2001. he also admitted to killing robert whitney. the judge found a juror lied about her background and the case was mistrialed and will be tried again. erin: officials say that tracks were made against students and staff at conval high school. according to the superintendent, a note was sent to parents saying the responsible parties had been identified and are not attending school in the district. precautions have been made and put in place to staff. they are not aware of

sean: a man from maine is recovering after suffering serious injuries in a snowmobile accident in stratford. 35-year-old paul politz was riding yesterday when he lost control of his sled and went 15 feet and slammed in to some trees. officials believe the accident may have been caused by a rock that was protruding out of the ice. erin: a familiar face on the campaign trail ended up in court. rod weber, also known as the flower guy, gained attention by showing up at primary events and offering prayers and bouquets to candidates. a run in at a donald trump event back in october had him worrying about gtting locked up. video shows weber tries to shout out questions at trump and being escorted from the venue. police charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. prosecutors dropped the criminal chargers and weber pleaded no contest violation.

boycott the debate. >> is it a good thing? more votes or less votes? nobody knows. reporter: trump says last night's event raised $6 million with he himself pledging $1 million. erin: the next republican debate will bring the candidates here to new hampshire. abc news and wmur partnering with "union leader "which will be held on saturday february 6th. democrats are not officially scheduled to debate again until february 11th in wisconsin. the "union leader" is pushing for another debate in new hampshire next thursday. it appears unlikely the democratic national committee will sanction it. donald trump is scheduled to return to new hampshire today. he has a rally scheduled for this morning at the raddison hotel in nashua. sean: a texas middle school is closed after 145 students and staff were sent to the hospital yesterday. paramedics were called to the school after a student passed out due

dozens of other students and staff reported symptoms, including nausea and headaches. >> it is sad. i don't know everybody. i still care and hope that nothing would ever happen to them. sean: all of the students and staff members have been released from the hospital. erin: a wisconsin teen was fined $200 for taking a second lunch at school. a written brief alleges that the head cook press charged against the student for theft. a fundraising page set up to help the teen pay his fine has received more than $100. the woman who started the fundraising says the rest of the money will students in need. a series of sonic booms rattled nerves shoreline yesterday. >> i thought i was going crazy for a second. i felt it the second okay. it is definitely something going on. >> just like a rumble. it was like a rumble when the heater backs up. that's all.

the whole house shook. erin: many people thought an earthquake might have been hitting. the booms were caused by military fighter jets. a navy spokesperson says the f-35c which has a stop speed of nearly 1,200 miles per hour was among two aircrafts off of the coast. the booms could be heard as far away as connecticut. sean: breaking the sound barrier. a homeless man has come up with new ways to make money. honest abe has his own web site and takes donation via credit cards. >> being homeless is my being business. sean: he's on the mission to help other homeless people. >> you take half of the adults. if those people gave a penny a they for a year that adds up to $365 million.

start granting homeless people a real shot. sean: kind of an entrepreneur. he has big ideas that include an app to weed out fake panhandlers and non-profit to benefit all homeless people. >> mattel is making changes to barbie. the famous doll will come in different shapes and sizes. barbie will be available in four body types, seven skin tones, 22 eye colors, and 24 hair styles. mattel says the changes are the most dramatic ever made to barbie since she hit the store shelves. it cosms after years of criticism over barbie's unrealistic proportions. sean: turns now to sports, for the first time in his career, isaiah thomas is an nba all star. it was made after coaches voted on seven reserves. thomas is one of five players averaging over

and one steal per game this season. erin: big game for the dartmouth hockey team. they are going to host quinnipiac. they are the top ranked team in the country. dartmouth has been playing great hockey lately, winning seven of the last eight games. >> michael phelps provided help to the arizona basketball team as they took on oregon state. he wore just a swim suit and his medals and a swim cap. apparently the distraction worked. while he was behind the curtain, the oregon state player missed both of his foul shots. arizona won -- kevin: those aren't the male medals, are they? sean: he wears them constantly. that's all he wears. erin: he's also wearing a bow tie. sean: i missed that. i'm cued of to be in the curtain of distraction as well.

with all of your gold medals. sean: i'll be wearing a larger speedo and more spray tan. kevin: yes. thank you for going to the weather maps. sean: it will distract you, won't it? kevin: i think these are a goody i distractions. the visual images. afternoon highs today will be in the 30's. tomorrow still 30's with sunshine giving way to clouds. that will be the chance north country. then we turn warmer on sunday. temperatures back up in to the low to mid 40's. likely not done there. i think we're in the 40's to possibility even the warmest of the day is monday. might be back up near 50. we'll turn cooler after a front and a system make its way through on wednesday. plenty of clouds out there this morning. the system kind of edging closer to each other. there should start to be a couple of snow showers developing kind of in combination of the two systems. it isn't going to merge in to a major storm. if anything, the major push of moisture located

the major energy far enough inland. they don't have a chance. it looks like scattered snow showers are going to be a possibility today. just an unsettled day with clouds and occasional showers out there. temperatures should be up in to the 30's. the impact as far as travel is concerned is pretty low with temperatures eventually above freezing. starting off right around 30 in south eastern areas as well as south eastern areas of the state. as we go through the day temperatures at the freezing mark. fairly low impact. a few spots, especially up north, could see an inch out of this. the clouds and scattered snow showers linger up north. for central and southern areas, partial clearing takes over. that's the sunshine we start the weekend with. we'll start adding clouds tomorrow afternoon after highs in the 30's. very similar to what we'll have out there today with a light breeze. eventually by later in the day and in to tomorrow evening a little line of light snow pushes through along a warm front that
