now wmur news 9 tonight. stephanie: the countdown to the caucus is on. until results come in. presidential candidates made their final pitches to iowans. i am stephanie woods. mcelveen' s law -- live in des moines. josh? caucuses, we have new numbers that show where the candidates in both races stand in new hampshire. this was a frenzied day for the candidates in iowa. just before the voting begins in the election. i had the opportunity to go one-on-one with donald trump, hillary clinton, and bernie sanders, just not at the same time. >> great to see you, sir. on board his bus after a busy day that still wasn'

hall meeting in sioux city. iowa governor terry branstad introduced kristi at another event. the gop hopeful bashed donald trump. christie will return to the granite state tomorrow. there is a little more than a week to go until the first in the nation primary. candidates will turn their attention to new hampshire this week. mike cronin tells me what canvassers were doing this weekend. mike: even though most of the candidates were not in new hampshire this weekend, their volunteers are campaigning, making phone calls every night, trying to reach as many voters as possible. leaving his competitors in iowa, ohio governor john kasich continued campaigning in new hampshire as he approaches 100 town halls in the state. >> whether i win or not, i believe in this process. i believe the folks in new hampshire are the best screeners america can have. mike: add bow elementary school,

tax rates, reduce spending, and address climate change if elected president. >> we don' t have to police the world, and we don' t want to control the world, but just like a good mom or dad, we have to lead as an adult country. that is our destiny is america. mike:mike: after dropping out of the race a month ago, south carolina senator lindsey graham is back supporting jeb bush. he talked to veterans in manchester. graham says bush is best prepared for the job and stands up to donald trump. >> everything donald trump is telling you about immigration is impossible to do. done. when donald trump says, ban all muslims, the enemy loves that the faith. >> i need your help. mike: in the democratic race, u.s. secretary of labor tom perez rallied hillary clinton volunteers in concord as her campaign continues canvassing throughout the state.

the sunshine, maybe not. we have a weak storm system that is going to press through tomorrow. look at these high temperatures we reached today. 56, nashua. 52, concord. even up in whitefield and berlin, temperatures were in the 40' s. here is where we stand. at this hour, people are still in the mid-40' s. 34 in concord. 32 degrees, laconia. there are the rain showers. there might be a couple moving across northern areas of the state. otherwise, we are mostly cloudy. most of the day tomorrow, cloudy, but there will be some peaks of sunshine. by recess for the kids, temperatures in the upper 40' s, close to 50 degrees when they are jumping off the school bus.

the cold air returns and the timing of another storm system ahead. hayley: stephanie: hooksett police received multiple reports of an explosion this afternoon, but they can' t figure out what it was. 911 calls came in reporting the sound of a loud boom in the south end. after an extensive search, no hazards or problems were found. anyone with more information should contact hooks it fire or police. police are looking for an arsonist who broke into cars and set them on fire in portsmouth. starting late friday night into saturday afternoon -- [no audio] police are reminding you to lock your car' s and report any suspicious activity to them. a manchester fire says both stores call just before 1:30 about a

firefighters rushed to south willow street and found above average levels of carbon monoxide inside the stores and even act you would them for an hour. fire officials believe a demolition crew at the michael' s location next door was improperly exhausting power equipment, and diesel leaked into the stores. both stores are now open. for people are recovering after a ski lift accident at granite gorge in roxbury. the keen fire department says at 2:30, two ski lift chairs collided, trapping to people. firefighters helped to lower the four people involved off the chair left. four people were hurt, too taken to cheshire medical center for a valuation. the state will need to take -- visit the ski lift. a missing snowmobiler was found today. 74-year-old stephen russell of vermont left middles field, new hampshire, planning to go to pose book mountain camps in

authorities began to search for him. new hampshire fish and game says russell became lost, but fortunately this morning, another snowmobiler found him. as the zika virus is spreading across central and south america, 36 americans have been sickened. the virus is carried by a species of mosquitoes and has been linked to birth defects. the biggest risk is to pregnant women, and some are deciding to change their travel plans. this family in londonderry was headed to st. thomas, but they have canceled their trip because of a pregnant family member. >> my doctor advised me that she would tell us not to go on the trip if the zika virus came too close to the area were in the area. stephanie: important to note is that public health officials say new hampshire does not have the kind of mosquitoes that can transport the zika virus, but the state is preparing to assist those who may become infected elsewhere.

stephanie: a second virginia tech student is in police custody, arrested in connection with the death of a 13-year-old girl. 19-year-old natalie keepers is being held without bond on one felony count of disposal of a dead body. another virginia tech student, david eisenhower is charged in the murder of nicole level. based on evidence collected today, we have determined that eisenhower and the call were acquainted prior to their disappearance. eisenhower used the relationship to his advantage. stephanie: facing off against a local team that is good for a

bruins alumni classic, and it benefits the people who play in the program. >> it' s just a pretty incredible thing when you look at the guys to do. stephanie: former boston bruins came to saint and some college biggest fans. krista who speaks through an ipad says she loves watching the game and meeting boston legends. >> i think it is very cool i get to meet real bruins. stephanie: the bruins alumni team is facing off against the crotchet mountain wild in the sixth annual boston bruins alumni classic. the game raises money for the crotchet mountain successful reaction and sports program to provide outdoor activities for people with disabilities. jeff garfinkel says the fundraiser not only maintains the more than $100,000 worth of equipment they need for cycling, skiing, and kayaking, but also come it gives them more.

it was a beautiful day for the end of january. many of you were getting outside and enjoying the warm temperatures. hayley: when i was driving around, just feeling the warmth, it was kind of nice. thank you to all of you for sharing these photos on the u local section of wmur.com. the unseasonably warm temperatures made it great for beach day. zack, playing in the sand. or maybe you got to go out to the big lake for some kayaking in guilford. it certainly was warm enough. stephanie: beach day and kayaking at the end of january, who would imagine? hayley: i saw a motorcyclist out there. he didn' t have a hat on or anything. he was rocking and rolling. stephanie: how long are we going to be able to enjoy this? i could keep this up until springtime rolls around. hayley: skiers aren' t saying that. it' s actually going to be quite mild as we push through the work

look at these temperatures. 58 degrees in nashua. salem, 57. 56 in wilton. portsmouth, exeter, 55 degrees. well above the average of 32 degrees. the high temperature in concord was 52. 59 degrees, the record set in 1913. here are the temperatures right now. look at these mild temperatures at 11:30 at night. 54 degrees in nashua. it is in the lower 30' s as you get to the northern part of the state. the winds are coming right out of the southwest. you can see a light breeze at the airport in manchester.

is bringing up the warmer air, keeping it surging in. we do have a few scattered rain showers mostly north of the notches. some of this may not be hitting the ground, but across the state, you see this light gray color. those are the clouds overhead and how it will remain for much of the overnight. temperatures won' t really cool down all that much. here is the big system on its way for tomorrow. unfortunately for the snow lovers, this isn' t going to be good. we start out tomorrow morning, 7:00 a.m., and we are beginning the day in the 30' s and the 40' s , but by the afternoon, passing clouds, maybe a few areas of drizzle or spits of rain.

tonight, we are going to have north but rather rain and maybe a few sprinkles with s across the state. tomorrow, 40' s. 54 degrees, manchester. 56 in salem. in nashua, this is some mild, unseasonably warm air for february 1. wednesday, when this line of rain approaches, this next storm system, there may be spotty areas of freezing rain early wednesday, but then watch. as we get to the midmorning, it is all rain for everybody, and there will be heavy downpours by midday thursday. bad for the ski resorts, but hopefully their snowpack can handle this rain. temperatures look to cool down

by friday, high temperatures will be back into the 30' s. mid-30' s next weekend. no snow in the forecast until maybe next weekend. it' s really very mild, unseasonable. stephanie: what i' m wondering about, we have all that rain on wednesday -- any chance that front could come earlier and effect -- i was going to say primary, but i' m getting ahead of myself. hayley: the caucus, yeah. it will be coming through tuesday. it will not have a huge impact on the voters, but it may impact planes coming back to new hampshire. they may be delayed getting back here. stephanie: that is going to complicate things. we' ve got to get the caucus and primary sorted out. we are talking about the all-star games with jason king.
