the polls are opening right now. more on primary day in just a moment. first let's talk about your weather. if you are heading out, you might need an extra layer. kevin: cool starts. temperatures warm up. we're looking at temperatures later on well into the 70's to lower 80's. it will come with almost nothing but blue sky into the afternoon. just a few fair weather clouds approaching from the west. that's our next system. ahead of that, temperatures are warmer today. maybe a touch of humidity around tomorrow andn rain in the extended forecast. for today, a beauty out there. late summer warmth this afternoon. much more on your forecast coming up. let's look at your tuesday morning ride here in the granite state. joined live by deb davidson. good morning, deb. deb: good morning. we're getting word of the crash. all of the lanes are re-opened and the the detours are down. the delay should begin to break up. we're seeing some delays

that's due to overnight road work that's beginning to wrap up. 93 and interstate 89 are moving well through the state. we're not seeing any problems on 95 along the seacoast in either direction. from the traffic network, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. erin: and the polls are opening for the new hampshire primaries. erin: about 23% of register voters are expected to turn out it is pretty high for a state primary. far more republicans expected to vote than democrats. one of the biggest races is for governor. ray brewer is live at manchester's ward one this morning where the polls just opened. he has a closer look at the democratic field. ray: that's right. also a closer look at some of the early morning voters here at ward one in manchester have gotten up to cast their ballots. all three men hoping to

political experience and they say they want to make sure the corner office says with their party. the candidates spent monday making a final push for votes. former state representative, mark connolly, shaking hands in manchester and speaking with the media. he says he's ready for the job and has the experience needed. >> i'm a person with a vision who wants to make new hampshire a safer and stronger place. ray: across the city, steve the west side native stopped by. he admits he got into the race for governor late and is being out spent and says momentum is on his side. >> every day folks switch from others. they didn't seal the deal. ray: the executive counselor canvassed neighbors in nashua. he wants to extend the commuter rail service. the campaign is confident in a strong turn out and strong launch toward the general election.

i'm the candidate who has been part of the progress. ray: a live look at the early morning voting going on here. our latest wmur poll shows on the democratic side that each of the candidates still has a lot of work to do when it comes to name recognition. reporting live in manchester, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: all right. thanks. busy there there morning. the republicans haven't won the governor's seat in more than a decade. only once in the last 20 year. erin: it includes jeannie forester, chris sununu, ted gastas, and state remember, frank edelblut. >> our campaign begins and ends with people. >> we have high energy, great support, a lot of people doing calls on the phones. >> i think i've had the right attitude going into it. i just want to serve the state. i'm having fun.

>> it feels like we have a lot of momentum on our side. erin: they expect the governor's race will get very negative very fast after today's primary as we head toward the general election in november. kelly ayotte is facing a challenge today. many experts don't expect the race to b close, both candidates spent yesterday working to win over the voters. sean: jim lawrence and jack flanagan are hoping to win. both campaigned in nashua yesterday. both say they have the experience and the plans to get things done in washington. >> the biggest thing is my experience. i'm the only veteran in the race. i was fortunate enough to graduate from the united states air force

complete results of all of the elections on the air and online as they come into the newsroom. erin: members of a local mosque want to know if it was an act of hate. on sunday night someone threw a rock through a window. moments later three people were seen running away. the mosque opened three years a growing islamic refugee community. >> the most important thing to take away was communicating that's not who we are in nashua. we're a welcoming community. >> there were no sayings left. that's something we will look at. >> police say it may not be an isolated incident.

juveniles throwing rocks. sean: right now police over the border in methuen are looking for the ex-boyfriend of a woman murdered in her home. 29-year-old wanda rosa was found yesterday morning and died at the hospital. she was killed with her 4-year-old son just feet away. rosa's ex-boyfriend, emil family members. he was recently released from jail. erin: jackpot claimed. the winner has claimed the prize and is spreading the wealth. sean: this bride needing help getting to her own ceremony after some problems on the road. erin: coming up at 6:30, kevin bacon is responding to a campaign in vermont asking him to attend an upcoming bacon

kevin: it is tuesday morning, september 13th. temperatures about the same as yesterday. which is another cool start and patchying with dense fog in inland sections of the state. sunshine otherwise. seven or eight degrees front and when it arrives along with the rain chances coming up in the forecast in just a bit. sean: still waiting for the sun to come up. the winner of the massive jackpot is sharing some of the money. we still don't know who bought the ticket at the hannaford in raymond. erin: lawyers claimed the prize yesterday. the winner did not sign the name to the ticket. instead it is signed by the newly formed robin

230 stores open. mall operator, simon and general growth, agreed to keep the stores open as part of the $234 million bid. they filed for bankruptcy in may. closing sales will continue at all stores, even those that are staying open. walmart is hoping to make shopping easier. they have been granted a patent for a system that allows shopping carts to drive themselves. detachable motors, featuring sensors and video cameras. customers will be able to request a cart from their smartphone through an ann. the cart will come to them. it is not clear when or where the system will be used. take care if you are putting the child in the cart and giving smartphone to another child. trouble could ensue. kevin: what could go wrong there? erin: bumper carts throughout walmart.

truly takes effect, we're going to have a lot of new stories. sean: they will have to perfect the system. kevin: just a hunch. i'm in the prediction business. i have a feeling. a cool start to the day. a feeling of autumn. it will be with sunshine into the afternoon. the difference will be that eventually after any fog burns off, that sunshine and a southwesterly breeze should push temperatur five or six degrees warmer than yesterday afternoon. of course we start about the same early this morning. again some fog in interior sections. sunshine as we go early this morning. front back to the west arrives tomorrow in the way of scattered showers or even a passing thunderstorm. for the time being, upper 30's and lower 50's. these numbers just about where we were yesterday at this time. it will be a different afternoon after any fog burns off. temperatures run anywhere from the mid 70's to lower range of

atmosphere. still in place early this morning with dewpoints in the 30's and 40's. we'll see an up tick in dewpoints over the next couple of days. by later this afternoon, we should be into the upper 40's to mid 50's. tomorrow above 60 in a lot of southern locations. that will mean that we'll have a little bit of a feeling of humidity in the air by tomorrow afternoon ahead of the front. 76 to 83 from north to south this afternoon. light breeze out of the southwest around five to ten miles an hour. a good deal of weather clouds. we get later into the evening, partly cloudy skies. it won't be quite as chilly. temperatures in the 50's to lower half of the 60's. tomorrow starting with sunshine and adding clouds. a scattered nature to the showers or maybe even a couple of passing thundershowers. we can't rule out even in southern parts that we may see one or two gustier thunderstorms. that will pull by later on tomorrow evening and the flow behind that is out of the north. that means highs in the

thursday. eventually by friday after another cool start to the day and probably the coolest all week, we'll start to warm up yet again. by the time we get to the weekend, a day much like what we'll have out there tomorrow will be for saturday ahead of the next front that tries to arrive later saturday evening. looks like scattered showers a possibility late saturday night or sunday. 76 to 83 today. a good deal of sunshine. what will ultimately be a warmer afternoon than where we were yesterd tomorrow with a touch of humidity in the air. scattered showers or a thunderstorm around in the afternoon and evening. eventually giving way to cooler conditions. highs 60's to near 70 degrees on thursday with almost full sunshine. sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70's on friday. much like yesterday. then a warm-up on saturday will make it feel like it will be out there this afternoon. couple of scattered showers a possibility late saturday night or sunday. as i mentioned earlier, it could be a showery

sean: two republicans are vying for votes in new hampshire's first congressional district. the winner will face democrat carl shea-porter in the general election. ashu was a executive at b.a.e. for more than 20 years. frank giunta is hoping his constituents to elect him to a third term. a seat he's held on off. sean: they are hoping to face off against annie kuster in november. jack flanagan has been a school board member.

jim lawrence owns a consulting firm in nashua. he served three terms and lives in hudson. in the u.s. senate race, kelly ayotte is being challenged by jim rubens. they are hoping to continue representing the granite state. she's staying focused on doing the job, rather than just keeping the job. her competitor was a state senate back in the 1990's. he's no stranger to the race. two years ago he lost the republican polls, you can find all sorts of primary information in the politics section of wmur.com. you can watch the granite state debates and compare the candidates yourself. we have broken things down race by race. tonight we will bring you live updates starting at 8:00 on the primary results until the races are decided. erin: a teen is recovering after being hit by a train in rochester. police say the girl was crossing the tracks yesterday afternoon when a new hampshire north

officers say the victim was not in a designated crossing area. she may have been distracted. she was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. sean: manchester police are on the lookout for a man they say stabbed and robbed a delivery driver. the 28-year-old driver for the golden tao restaurant just made a delivery saturday night when someone hit him in the head and stabbed him in the neck as he left the building. the victim says his attacker was armed with a folding knife and demanded money. he is described as a heavyset hispanic man with short black hair. he was wearing a green bandana, a dark red t-shirt and jeans. anyone with information is asked to contact the police. gilmanton police are warning people to be cautious of picking up needles. they are asking parents to warn children not to touch them and call the

tieing mickey mantle for 17th on the all time list. the red sox went on to win it 12-2. the bats were hot. sean: they are still going. the ncaa is pulling seven championship sporting eventers out of north carolina because of the state's commercial bathroom law. critics say the law discriminates against the transgender community. among the events the ncaa is pulling are the first two rounds of the mens division i basketball tournament and the women's division i previously the nba announced it will pull the 2017 all-star game from charlotte due to the law. erin: 128 golfers took part in the seventh annual harvest golf classic, including our sports guys, jamie staton, and jason king. the event benefits the new hampshire food bank. donations are always down over the summer months. this golf tournament is important to help

raised more than $335,000. sean: great effort. handicappets.com has announced the winners of the pet calendar contest. the 13 winners are from five countries. they will be featured in the 2017 calendar. as you can see, all of the pets use wheelchairs. more than 100,000 people cast votes for the favorite photos on facebook. proceeds from the calendars will be donated to the handicap pets foundation. story we told you yesterday. kevin bacon is responding to a request from a town in vermont, brattleboro. people have been posing with the life-size cut out to get him to attend the upcoming bacon fest. here's what the actor has to say. >> hey, it is kevin bacon sending me regrets to the good people of brattleboro. i wish i could be there. i'm in vancouver

mid 50's. you are along the big lake in central parts of the state. you are in the lower 50's away from the lake. you are down into the 40's and upper 30's north of the notches yet again. fog should burn off rather rapidly this morning. you can see the visibility is down to near zero and a third of the mile through the upper valley in spots. the dewpoints are low. once that sunburns that off, it should be a comfortable afternoon out there. mid 70's to lower 80's today. good deal of sunshine. just a few clouds around later on this afternoon. temperatures will be warmer out there today. you'll probably notice that if you are outdoors any time after 1:00. until then, temperatures are going to be climbing from the levels that we started yesterday with as well. mostly clear skies tonight. notice temperatures don't fall quite as much. that will be with a flow as the air mass continues to moderate. starting tomorrow with sunshine and adding clouds through the afternoon. maybe even a couple of thunderstorms with temperatures in the low to mid 80's.
