abc's gio benitez is in jamaica with the latest. gio: here in kingston, jamaica, the first bands of this storm started moving in. we saw that heavy rain, and we've already seen flooding even within just half an hour of it starting to rain, incredible flooding here. but the real concern is actually now in haiti, because now it looks like the worst of the storm is going to hit that island, which of course was ravaged by that earthquake in 2010. are going to be hit, potentially, with this major, major storm. what they are concerned about now are mudslides and that major, major rainfall in haiti. in fact, the rain is more a threat than the wind, so we are going to be watching that. the state department has now warned all americans to get out now, saying time is limitted for a safe departure. gio benitez, abc news, kingston, jamaica. cherise: the storm's path and

is still very uncertain. meteorologist hayley lapoint is tracking hurricane matthew. hayley: hurricanes, tropical storms are always very difficult for us to forecast, but especially when we are looking at a week in advance. that is only could be seeing the effects of it, next weekend. watching them closely as it is moving into a very vulnerable countries like haiti and jamaica and even the eastern half of cuba and the bahamas. this is hurricane matthew now, 130 mile-per-hour it is moving north and west. this is the latest track. it came out and 11:00. it moves right over haiti, eastern cuba and into the bahamas by wednesday and thursday of this week. there is a lot of uncertainty. anytime you see the big circle, the hurricane could go anyway in that circle. it could go to florida, the carolinas, or even out to sea.

i will show you the hour for our forecast. cherise: thank you. tonight, investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a suspicious fire in laconia at a closed water park. surf coaster usa was shut down in 2006, and it's been vacant since then. wmur's mike cronin has the latest developments from laconia. mike: firefighters had the flames knocked down quickly, but it was difficult for them just to even get to the building. slides were operational at surf coaster usa in laconia. last night, part of this former water park was on fire. terri hooper: and then, it just engulfed and just kept getting higher and higher. mike: terri hooper took this video near weirs beach around midnight showing the main office of the old park covered in flames. terri hooper: i looked up the hill. the next thing you know, i was like, oh my god, the woods are on fire. we called it in, and we just

belmont, and gilford battled the one alarm fire which they're calling suspicious. chad vaillancourt: it was about 30 by 30 building, fully involved. mike: it took them about two hours to put out the blaze. chad vaillancourt: there was some collapsing of the building. mike: no one was hurt. reaching the fire though was a challenge for firefighters because of the vegetation and trees that have grown in, and they couldn't get their trucks to the building. chad vaillancourt: we had to lay quite a bit of hand lines in to mike: despite that setback, the weekend rain actually helped them get the fire under control. chad vaillancourt: the vegetation, the brush, the trees were fairly wet. if it was still dry, like we had dry weather recently, we would've had a large spread of fire throughout the tree and brush. mike: investigators are trying to figure out how the fire started on the 13-acre property that's for sale. they're thankful the damage wasn't worse.

the fire is being considered suspicious. anyone with information on this is asked to call laconia fire or police. in laconia, mike cronin, wmur news 9. cherise: the state fire marshal has determined the cause of a fire at a dartmouth college dorm. investigators say a small hibachi-style charcoal grill was left unattended on the roof of morton hall and started the fire. the school is providing about 70 students who were living in the dorm with temporary housing. the state fire marshal's offi is helping bridgewater fire officials investigate what started a mobile home fire. it happened on mayhew turnpike around 7:00 friday night. everyone made it out safely, but the mobile home is a total loss. authorities say working smoke alarms made all the difference in this case. anyone with more information on the fire should call the state fire marshal's office. police are looking for a suspect that may have been involved in a shooting in manchester. police say a driver got out of their car at the intersection of

and then fired a gunshot. suspect jacob cahill is wanted on a warrant for attempted first degree assault and reckless conduct. anyone with information should contact manchester police. a newmarket teenager is in the hospital after a car crash on route 108 yesterday. newmarket police say the driver was going south on 108 when he lost control of the pick-up truck and then hit a tree. 18-year-old cameron russell of newmarket is now in critical condition at mass general. the cause of the crash is still under investigatiout authorities say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved. on the last day of the deerfield fair, a vendor was shut down and asked to leave. the fair's president isn't releasing the name of the vendor but says he was selling inappropriate cast iron figurines. someone attending the fair spotted those items and notified fair staff. we are told the vendor has been coming to the deerfield fair for years and has never sold these items before.

party or the other party. that is inherent in the possibilities i am putting forward. cherise: tomorrow marks five weeks and a day until the election. if you've driven by the state house this weekend, you may have noticed just how shiny and new the golden dome now looks. since march, workers have been laying five pounds of gold leaf in four-inch squares on the dome to restore it back to its original glory. the project costs some $1 million. it is expected to be completed december 1. police officers killed in the line of duty were remembered today at the annual 5k footrace today marks 40 years since the line of duty death of officer ralph miller. and october 17 will mark the 10th anniversary of the line of duty death of officer michael briggs. manchester police chief nick willard paid special tribute to both families. all proceeds from the event will -- >> this is a difficult time for law enforcement and manchester pd.

cherise: new tonight , investigators say the first data recorder recovered from the new jersey train crash was not working on the day of the accident. these are new photos released by the ntsb of the damage to the terminal. one person was killed, and more than 100 injured in the crash. right now investigators are digging through debris to find the second data recorder.

adam: in new hampshire, the fight against isis is personal. james foley, who grew up in wolfeboro, was murdered in a gruesome propaganda video in august 2014. he gave his life trying to bring to light the suffering of war-torn countries. news 9 spoke with him in 2011 after his return from being held hostage in libya. his focus, always on the people in his stories, yearning for peace and freedom. >> they want to be able could i say that, you know, and not get arrested? adam: since foley's death, isis has inspired attacks within the united states, most notably in san bernardino and orlando. >> we can't allow isis to have a safe haven. it's a cancer, as an organization. it has to be eradicated. adam: retired army green beret jim steiner of concord says as long as the isis power structure has a place it can call home, it

showers. finally climbing into the 60's, mid 60's later on in the afternoon. here's the latest on the big hurricane going on in the caribbean, there it is. you see it continuing to move to the northeast, toward haiti and jamaica and the eastern half of cuba. still a strong category four hurricane, 140 mile per hour wind wednesday, thursday this week. then it is questionable from there. the u.s., possibly out to see, something we are watching closely here and will continue to this week. scattered showers, slow clearing, and then if matthew has impacts, it will be next weekend with rain coming in. it is too early to tell.
