he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2015. wmur's kristen carosa is live in concord with details from the hearing. kristen: this morning's hearing essentially started the process of figuring out if owen labrie had ineffective counsel during his trial and if he did, a new trial date would be set. labrie could be seen walking into court this morning accompanied by his parents and his new defense attorney robin melone of nashua. labrie was found guilty in 2015 of misdemeanor sex assault. his victim was a then-15-year-old girl. labrie was sentenced to one year in jail. he was released on bail pending his appeal. a few months later, the state filed a motion to revoke bail based on allegations that he had violated his curfew. labrie served two months in jail and is now back home with is family in vermont with a monitoring bracelet. at today's hearing, both the state and labrie's defense attorney discussed dates for a

well-established process for litigating ineffective claims that starts with statements from the trial team. those come to the attorneys for the state. we look at those and see what we need to do. we have a hearing scheduled in february where the matter will be litigated. kristen: attorney melone says the hearing will begin on february 21, and it should last february 21, and it should last two to three days. kristen carosa, wmur news 9. adam: new this noon, a hudson man is behind bars after a high-speed police chase in pelham. around 3:30 this morning, a pelham officer tried to pull over a white sedan that was speeding on route 38 in the breakdown lane. police say the car was swerving and accelerating to speeds of over 80 miles per hour. after the chase entered the town of windham, the driver eventually crashed at the intersection of mammoth road and castle hill. 22-year-old justin seoum was taken into custody. he is charged with aggravated dwi, disobeying a police

police in dover need help in idenitfying a robbery suspect. police say it happened at the mister mikes gas station on portland avenue last night at around 10:30. this man threated clerks before running off with cash. the suspect is described as a white man around 5'7" tall with blue eyes. anyone with information is asked to call dover police. hurricane matthew is proving deadly as it churns through the carribbean. and right now millions of americans are on alert and mandatory evacuations have been ordered in parts of florida. so far, matthew is blamed for at least 11 deaths, five of them in the country of haiti. abc's angelica spanos has the latest on storm preparations. angelica: catastrophic damage in haiti. hurricane matthew's 145-mile-per-hour winds ripping through towns, flash flooding washing out roads. the damage in the impoverished

and communications are nonexistent in many areas. >> everything in my house is wet. i've lost everything. the water took it. i won't have a chance to get it back. angelica: the concern now shifts to the bahamas, where matthew is expecting to batter the islands, before turning its focus to the u.s. states of emergencies declared in florida, georgia, and the carolinas. store shelves are bare. bottled water is dwindling. and residents are stocking up on propane and plywood, even waiting in long lines for gas. >> we drove to like 4 different gas stations trying to get gas and no gas. angelica: florida governor rick scott is urging people to get out before it is too late. governor scott: our number one priority is protecting life. the storm has already killed a number of people, and we should

angelica: with millions of people expected to evacuate from florida to south and north carolina, traffic jams are expected. forecasts show matthew nearing florida friday morning, then heading north along the coast saturday and sunday. and as of now through the caribbean at least 11 deaths , have been blamed on hurricane matthew. angelica spanos, abc news, new york. adam: nasa released this view of hurricane matthew from the international space station. that is the eye of the storm as it rolls over the caribbean. meteorologist kevin skarupa joining us now with the very latest stormtrack. kevin: that tracked dependent on the cold front and how far north matthew attempted to get before the front made its way to the east coast. this is matthew down to the south. approaching areas of the southern bahamas right now. cold front moving through chicago was expected if matthew

point that it is not expected to get near the cold front by the time it gets to the east coast. you notice the forecast isn't all that different going for the next couple of days, but after it gets to north carolina, it doesn't get swept up by the front, it holds and may be there quite a while. we will talk about the ramifications for the holiday weekend in just a bit. adam: you can track matthew on the home page of our wte and on the weather page you can learn more about hurricanes and the history of this storm. the goffstown police department announced today that its officers will soon be wearing body cameras. the department says people will be notified about the cameras, whenever possible, during police interactions. the officers will be wearing the body cams by the end of this week. a man accused of trying to kill a boston police officer is due

rosado-gonzalez and another man opened fire while officers were investigating gun trafficking in roslindale. one officer was shot in his tactical vest. gonzales was arrested after a five-hour manhunt. both men are charged with assault with intent to murder a police officer. former new england patriot aaron hernandez is expected back in court today, ahead of his double murder trial. hernandez is scheduled to stand trial in february in the 2012 killings of two men he allegedly encountered in a boston nightclub. hernandez has pleaded not hernandez has pleaded not guilty. sentence in the 2013 killing of odin lloyd. mcdonald's is on a mission to help new hampshire law enforcement today. restaurants around the state will take part in a fundraiser for the association of chiefs of police. the goal is to raise $50,000. a local police officer will be at each mcdonald's location across the granite state from 4:00 to 8:00 to meet and greet customers and talk about their

the pattern will not provided for us. a lot of tracks for hurricane matthew where we were not expecting to get the full push from the system, maybe some moisture could have locked in with the front. that system has moved so slowly that the front back to our west, by the time he gets to the east coast, over the weekend, it will be close enough by to track the moisture northwards. that leaves will to our south and it may linger for quite a while. temperatures starting today in the 40's and even upper 30's. now we are in the upper 60's. for most we are in the upper 60's this afternoon. visibility much better now. this is where we are heading this afternoon. temperatures making their way from the 60's to even your 70. see breeze of the coast this

remainder of the day. fair skies leading into this evening. overnight temperatures drop back again to the 30's and 40's. not quite seen frost across central new hampshire. temperatures another couple degrees warmer. upper 60's to the mid-70's tomorrow. that is almost with full sunshine. busy travel they on friday. big area of high pressure in control. again. we get into the weekend and the system that to our west, the same front slowly edges towards us. we will start to increase the clouds saturday evening and there may be a passing shower. the moisture from matthew stays well enough to our south. the forecast tracking the system hasn't changed much from the hurricane center but watch as it gets near north carolina and starts to turn a little bit farther back to the east as
