reporting in portsmouth, kristen carosa, wmur news 9. cherise: kristin, thank you. today, actress connie britton is campaigning for hillary clinton in new hampshire. she's known for her roles in "nashville" and "friday night lights." britton met with voters in londonderry this afternoon and says clinton has the experience to be president and strong values about women, family, and children. >> and i do believe that if women were women were given the -- given the power of their own bodies, if women are treated as equals, then i actually think that that will make an impact on the economy. kristen: and britton made several stops across the state today. she will also campaign in keene and hanover tomorrow. meantime, on monday, president bill clinton will campaign for hillary clinton in new hampshire.

party organizing event at 11:30 a.m. and then president clinton will visit keene state college at 2:15. you can rsvp for that event online. well, a large rescue attempt on mount jefferson this afternoon. fish and game officers say one man suffered a heart attack and died. nearby hikers captured this video of a national guard helicopter landing. wmur's kristen pope live in the studio with more detai kristen: cherise, this morning, twin mountain e.m.s. and fire officials were called to caps ridge trail on mount jefferson for a medical emergency. fish and game officials say they received a 911 call around 8:00 a.m. and a man collapsed and suffered a heart attack. authorities say two friends performed c.p.r. on a 62-year-old rick libby until help arrived. shortly after emergency crews arrived, the national guard helicopter landed to airlift

everyone's attempts to save libby failed. dan mcginness was an eyewitness nearby. and he began recording the incident once the helicopter got close. >> the unique experience having hiked so many mountains to see a helicopter coming up so close and all that stuff, it's just unfortunate, you know, and condolences go out to the family of the individual whose life was lost. >> it looked like physically could have -- you look -- he looked very physically fit when i saw him. had all the proper equipment to do such a hike. so i think he was very seasoned hiker. kristen: fish and game officials remind hikers to be cautious as temperatures drop this fall. as always, they urge hikers to be prepared with food, water, and tools to survive in the woods overnight. live in the studio, kristen

concord forced a state trooper to drive into the guard rail to avoid a crash early this morning. 28-year-old gregory dumais is charged with d. wurks i. and reckless conduct after police say he was driving south on 93 north. sergeant james steinmetz was taken to the hospital following his close call with the car. a newmarket man is charged with driving while intoxicated for the second time in one after a crash on north main street in newmarket yesterday. police say 60-year-old joseph keyser crashed into the back of a truck around 3:00 p.m. he was then taken to the hospital with injuries where he allegedly assaulted two officers. keyser is being held on $10,000 cash bail. at rockingham county jail. also, in newmarket, police are investigating after a truck crashed through the first floor of an american legion late last night. that truck crashed into the

not too far away. and that means a warming trend is about to develop along with a fair amount of sunshine. you see off to our west that builds in for your sunday. what about a chance of a couple of showers? and how long will the spring-like warmth stick around? we'll look at all of that straight ahead. cherise: thank you, mike. a 19-year-old new hampshire man killed in the attack on pearl harbor has finally been laid to rest beside his parents. navy firemen third class edwin oklahoma at pearl harbor. on december 7, 1941. the young man from keene was one of 429 servicemen killed when that ship capsized after being hit by japanese torpedos. he was buried in an anonymous grave in honolulu until his remains were exhumed. and then positively identified through d.n.a. from a cousin. >> it's a day to celebrate. he's home with his parents. it's not a sad day. it's a happy day.
