fortunately, not the case this year. but the rain still falling in parts of the granite state this noon, as you can see from these live pictures. it has been ugly this morning. let's get it over to kevin skarupa. we needed the rain. kevin: we certainly have. one-to-plus inches of rain. kind of a cool afternoon with the breeze that is going to continue to pick up through the afternoon. of the state and you notice as you get to the great white mountains and the north woods, depending on elevation, a bit of a switchover to snow. the wind will pick up at behind the system out of the north through the remainder of the afternoon. we will add on to the rainfall totals. in some spots it is going to be over two inches of rain. we will hold in the 40's this afternoon. winds gusting 30-35 miles an hour at times, the closer you get to the shoreline.

in your forecast coming up. sean: a major headache for commuters this noon. 93 northbound has been backed up for hours and is still slow this hour. it began after 8:00 this morning when a tractor trailer truck jacknifed on the northbound side of 93 in bow. the truck's saddle tank was leaking some fluid after the accident near the bow junction. the backup stretched all the back to the hooksett tolls and continues to be that way. shots were fired early this morning in manchester, and police are asking the public for help. the shots were fired at the intersection of concord and walnut street just behind the boys and girls club. police responded to the intersection at 1:40 after getting several calls from neighbors reporting the shots. officers say when they arrived there was no one there.

a manchester man could face charges after police say he kidnapped his girlfriend. londonderry police say victor rosario forced the victim out of her office building and into his car. cell phone pings were used to locate the car in worcester, massachusetts. the girlfriend was ok. rosario was questioned and released but police say he could face kidnapping and assault charges. they say the couple has a child together but the child was not involved in this incident. nashua police arrested a suspected drug dealer. 27-year-old lindsey parziale-mcdonald, of londonderry, is charged with selling heroin. she was arrested following an investigation into the distribution of heroin in nashua. commuters bracing for some major toll changes. coming up, the demolition set to impact thousands of drivers in massachusetts this weekend. and what officials are now saying the operator of this train failed to do after smoke forced passengers to break out.

against protestors during a six-hour standoff yesterday. they allegedly blocked roads and set fire to construction equipment. demonstrators say the land belongs to the standing rock sioux tribe. the u.s. coast guard has delivered nearly 40,000 pounds of cocaine to san diego, including some seized from a mini-submarine. last month, the coast guard spotted the sub just below the surface off central america. authorities say more than $73 million worth of drugs were allegedly hidden inside the sub. in all, the coast guard says it's intercepted $5.6 billion worth of the illicit drug this year. officials say they have stopped nearly 600 suspected drug smugglers and disrupted the distribution of more than pounds 400,000 of cocaine. so they are busy out there stopping the drug flow. meantime, the rain coming down. kevin: yeah, when it rains, it pours. it has been a dry stretch

there could be a switchover to snow. cannot rule that out in portions of the county where temperatures are in the upper 30's right now. entire system lifts to the northeast needs us with a quite stretch of weather. although we contend with a couple of showers and it may be both days this weekend, depending on where you happen to be. washington valley, and on the other side of the white mountains, trying to hold enough cold air. the wind as it switches out of the north, could feet in a little bit of a changeover with an inch or two of snow this afternoon and evening. indicating dry weather in southern areas. as you know if you have been outdoors it does not take much to move the windchill wipers around.

this is focused rainfall. all the much-needed rainfall across the area with the deficits we've been running the last four or five months. temperatures in the mid-40's, not expecting much of a move this afternoon. ocean temperatures and surface temperatures 55. a little bit lower visibility to go along with that. i to dive in over the northerly and northwesterly direction. we will contend with through the afternoon and evening commute of over 30 miles an hour. this stretch of average rotates out of canada and it leaves us with partial sunshine both days over the weekend. the run the risk of a couple of showers in the afternoon. best chances in northern portions of the state. not expecting anything to last more than an hour. temperatures anywhere in it 40's to mid 50's.
