our children, they look up to us. what we value, how we treat others. and now they're looking to see what kind of leaders we choose. will it be the one respected around the world, or the one who frightens our allies and emboldens our enemies? the one with the deep understanding of the challenges we face, or the one who is unprepared for them? a steady hand? or a loose cannon? common sense and unity, or drama and division?

>> brian: well, kent police are getting ready for one of their bussiest nights of the year. halloween. this saturday, around 20,000 people are expected to come downtown for the big annual celebration. but it's also a target for crime. and, we are hearing it's all hands on deck for the police. police are advising students and visitors to stay in large groups to protect themselves and to be careful about having parties. trick or treat starts this weekend in some communities and

do to make that happen. avoid, now, having your kids wear masks. because it makes it harder for them to see what's going on around them. painting their face is a better option. and, you should have them wear tennis shoes. the boots or heels, well they may go better with the costume but you don't want the kids to fall or even have sore feet. make sure your walkway and sidewalks are clear so no one will fall and leave your pets inside. those pets are not all that fond of having all right. for trick or treat times or anything you might need for halloween, head to the street zone. it it's on our website, cleveland19.com. >> starbucks is getting spooky for halloween. the frappula is back. it's topped with strawberry puree to look like -- what else -- blood. the dracula inspired drink is only here until monday for halloween. >> brian: straight ahead on cleveland 19 news, no designated hitter for the tribe for the next three games. the reason why and how that will affect our d.h., carlos santana, that's cg >> samantha: brian with no love for the p.s.l. even on halloween weekend. right? oh, well. let's take a live look outside from high atop our feazel roof camera. 12:13 and it is 50 outside. you can't see it from this vantage point, but there is a little bit of sunshine breaking out across the viewing area. what about the weekend, though? it's kind of cold out there. we will warm it up. we will talk about it after the

takes their place. in the indians case, the d.h. for the most part has been carlos santana. but in the national league there is no designated hitter. as the indians go to chicago, the pitchers will hit. so, does that mean it's as simple as taking carlos santana out of the lineup? no. santana is one of the tribe's best run producers. he hit .259 and hit 34 home runs and drove in 87. santana can play first base but that would mean sitting down mike that's not going to happen. he also hit 34 home runs and he drove in 101 r.b.i.s. >> he's going to try to find a way to get us both in there. coming to a national league park is kind of tough. you know. you are limited to trying to get, you know, your regular lineup out there. so, you know, tito's been able to pull the right strings. so, we have all the trust in him to, whatever decision he makes we are going to be all right.

tonight. josh tomlin, the starter, also a pretty good hitter. he batted 500. six hits in 12 at bats. >> tia: josh is pitching against cubs right-hander. tomlin has an e.r.a. of 2.56 while hendrick is 1-1 in the post season although he's had three starts with an e.r.a. of 1.65. but tomlin has one more thing going for him. his dad. jerry tomlin was recently paralyzed from the waist down. but he will be there realizing his son's dream of pitching in the world series. joe buck won't be able to wax on and on about schwarber because he was not medically cleared to play the outfield.

hitting duties. he was the cubs d.h. when they played in cleveland. >> samantha: all right. it is 19 after. good to is he you again on this last day of the workweek. i hope that your friday has been off to a great start. weather wise, it hasn't been the most beautiful day. right? it's been cloudy all day. and kind of cool, as well. but i do think we will warm up just a little bit into the afternoon. sitting at 50 in cleveland. unfortunately that's like one of the 50 in new philly, as well. but a lot of 40s out there if you are about to hit the highway and head to lunch in wooster, we will go 47 there. 48 in warren. and sandusky, the warmest spot on the map at 52. but we have a ways to go. we have a southwest wind and i do think we will see a little bit of clearing into the afternoon. so, that should start to help things along. we will go 54 at 1:00. getting a little more sunshine 3:00 to 5:00. so i am going to go 57 for a

that high for the day with just a little bit more sunshine breaking out during the afternoon. your evening forecast looks pretty good. low 50s pretty much all night. partly cloudy and breezy. if you are headed out to progressive field tonight, no need to prepare for rain. you know there is a pretty big watch party and i think there are tickets still available. so, go out there, all the money goes to a great cause. it is for charity. so, your $5 fee to get in will be worth your and hopefully we will get a win. 53. we stay in the low 50s all the way through early tomorrow morning. no rain on you today or tonight. so when are we going to see some more rain? i feel like we have had a lot of rain this week. yesterday and the day before yesterday, most of our shower activity should hold off during the day tomorrow. here's a closer look at your weekend. 74 on saturday. that's a change. right? we were in the 40s yesterday afternoon. the day before was kind of chilly, too.
12:21 pm
there's a little chance of a shower or two out in the snowbelt tomorrow. most of us should be just fine during the day. but scattered showers are possible tomorrow night. so, if you are trick or treating tomorrow night or taking the kids out, be aware that is there a little shower chance. upper 50s overnight. but i think when my trick or treaters are out, it will be in the 60s. so not a bad night to celebrate halloween. we are only in the upper 50s on sunday and you will notice that is a weather-alert day because we have rain on the weekend is nice. we will take it. but any of your outdoor stuff you might want to take care of it tomorrow since sunday will be kind of rainy from time to time. halloween monday looks good. 59 there. but look at tuesday. november 1. 74?. isn't that crazy? >> tia: that is crazy. >> samantha: i love it. >> tia: usually it's snowing. >> brian: usually we have had snow. >> samantha: yeah before
12:22 pm
>> brian: we'll have some baseball games to play here this week,, too after the indian gas to chicago and win a couple. >> samantha: i hope they win 'em all. >> brian: then it will be over. right? well the church is supposed to bring peace but there's a rivalry behind the closed doors of st. pete are and st. paul. father rick is a die hard tribe fan while father matt loves the cubs. the two live and work together at their parish but this world series has brought some uneasiness to their living arrangements. >> i didn't say i said aww hey jack jack, you know the indians won. he was in the kitchen saying we know you won. >> i lifted up my hand for a high five. he would not even look at me. >> brian: peace be with you except during the baseball game. both predict it's going to be a closer reese and take seven games. both think their team is going to win either way.
