4:01 pm
[ cheers and applause ] >> were you there? of course you were. everyone was there. the celebration is the work, the work is the reward. the reward is the opportunity to come back and do it all over again. one more time. >> one more time. >> mark: the downtown cleveland alliance rolled out this new video today. the release of the individual q yoe has been scheduled for months. it reminds us cleveland is a winner. >> romona: that will change the mood here. tribe fans hold your head up high. we accomplished a lot this season. gosh, this is just -- it's been -- the last nine days have been incredible. >> mark: it has been difficult. really quite the year, though, nor cleveland. but it is tough to stomach last night's loss. so close. mark schwab, i know it hurts.
4:02 pm
>> mark: this is where i'm supposed to lie. i blew out my throat. if you can tell, i was a little raspy. that was as tough as it came. it's being called one of the greatest game seven ever. the indians were left for dead and buried by many. they were prepping the club for a celebration. the same inning davis hit that. davis blasted one of the most historic homeruns in franchise history to get it even at 6. this team never said die. even fighting until its last out in the bot jason kipnis so proud of his club. >> we knew it was going to be a fun one. we knew it was going to be a battle until the end. even when we got down early, it's nothing we haven't done before. we have overcome everything else. why not keep fighting. extremely proud of the way the guys did. for us the way we came back and made it a ball game kind of shows you what we've been doing all year long and the toughness
4:03 pm
and just couldn't come up with the big hit. >> mark: so with the cubs drought ending, the indians now have the longest. 68 years. unfortunately i have to say and counting. tough, tough. >> romona: we'll get it done one year. they just really made us so proud. >> mark: it was a surprise to a lot of people they made it as long as they did for the people that weren't watching them all year. >> mark: into this with a full rotation. >> mark: that's true. >> mark: this is a world series team. for them to do it with essentially half a rotation. >> mark: yes. >> mark: and still take it to the hilt with the tieing run on base in the bottom of the 10th. there are not enough adjectives. i don't know if people even truly appreciate they're able to do. you're not supposed to be able to win games that they won in this post season with fifth starters and bullpen days and they went ahead and do it. >> mark: thanks to terry francona.
4:04 pm
saying save all of that for timeout. >> mark: yes, ma'am. >> romona: we'll continue this. >> mark: i'll be yelling. >> romona: all right. [ laughing ]. here we go, lebron james has been showing his support for the indians and had this special message for them. take a listen. >> you all post game at the world series game seven. just want to congratulate the indians on an unbelievable season. you guys did something that nobody would ever think you guys could do. and we're very proud of the whole cavs organization, all the fans, the whole city of cleveland, we're all proud of you guys. you guys got nothing to hang your heads low about. use us as inspiration and get ready for next year. and also want to congratulate the chicago cubs on winning the world series. the first one in i think 100 plus years. magical season to you all. you guys were the best team in baseball all year, man, and you guys show why.
4:05 pm
like i said, congratulations to the chicago cubs! and much respect to my home town cleveland indians. looking forward to seeing you guys back out there next year. so all good. uninterrupted. >> romona: and the shirt that lebron and his wife rocked at last night's game showing their love for northeast ohio had everyone wondering where to get it. catherine bosley found out. catherine. >> reporter: yeah, you know, while the indians here, it is, again, lebron james who makes the winning statement for all of us and that winning statement again. we're talking about these shirts in a fashion statement that could not be more simple. [ cheers and applause ] >> it's gone. >> reporter: well, now we know how lebron james gets into a his show at the indians world series game 7 is one to remember and even more so, it's his shirt. >> i saw that. i saw that. that's really nice.
4:06 pm
>> reporter: cleveland or nowhere. so simple but to so many it means so much. >> i would like one. >> reporter: what does that mean to you cleveland or nowhere? >> that this is where it's happening. >> oh, yeah. i'm going to get me one. i got to have one of them. cleveland or nowhere. if you don't live here, you don't live nowhere. >> reporter: it's been big talk on social media from the talk lebron was captured on camera for the world to see. even those that aren't so sports minded taking note. >> we have everything. we have water. we have the we have the people. we have everything. >> reporter: so that shirt says it all. >> it says all of it. >> reporter: the slogan comes from a creative agency which began the concept with a new york or nowhere tee. then los angeles or nowhere tee. paris and nowhere. who would have thought cleveland would be next in this exclusive apparel line. >> i'm kind of feeling the shirt. i really like it. i think it's great. >> if i could find it, i'll buy it. >> reporter: so that is the big
4:07 pm
well, we're told you can get it at saks fifth avenue. we went to saks. guess what. no shirts. however, they do tell us right now they're selling them online on their website. then there's the company website itself that makes the shirts. and, again, they say they're sold out. at least for now. so it looks like lebron, he started something again. so at this point, mark and ramona, it looks like a little bit of patience to try to find one of those shirts. >> romona: i'm going to get one. >> mark: you're >> romona: yes. somehow, some way. >> mark: that's the question. where can we get them? maybe other company is doing these? >> romona: copycat. >> reporter: we have to keep checking in. i'm told there are copycats out there. the slogan is so easy. it doesn't get much simpler than cleveland or nowhere. >> mark: it's not a tough find. >> reporter: but if you do get them from noleta, how about this, noleta is selling them for $58.
4:08 pm
>> mark: how did lebron afford that. that's tough. very good. >> romona: i could probably get that made in the graphics department here. >> mark: thanks, catherine. if you get on social media, you know that in the last 24 hours that the world series has been all of the talk. everyone from politicians to celebrities. they've been weighing in. and dan deroos joins us now from the answer center. >> dan: some of us have been trying to stay away from social media. probably just better that way. but one of the first things i was to start looking at some of the tribe players. carlos santana. most of them have gone social media dark. they just don't want to talk about it. but there are a couple. carlos san tan na. congratulations -- santana. congratulations to the cubs. played us hard. they earned it. they're trying to get a deal done with carlos to keep him around. in fact, i think they have done that. jos? ramirez one of the only other indians to tweet. thanks to everyone in cleveland for their support. it was an amazing run.
4:09 pm
back bigger and stronger hashtag #roll tribe. i like the sound of that. governor john kasich tweeted cleveland what a ride it's been. let's win it all next year. congrats to the cubs and their passionate fans. speaking of politicians, the today show put this up. i'm not sure how cleveland fans will feel about this. this is, yes, chicagoan hillary clinton celebrating last night at one of her campaign s so, well, i don't know, maybe think about that as you head into -- head into your voting booth. and then for president barack obama also a chicagoan. holy cow. even this white sox fan was happy to see wrigley wrocking. fly the w. mark, let's get back to you. >> mark: >> mark: okay.
4:10 pm
in cleveland gear gave our city a bad name after last night's game. sucker punched a guy wearing a cubs shirt. chris tanaka has the video. >> chris: this is the type of story you don't like seeing. the beat down went down at eagle and ontario right after the game. bystander caught it all on his cell phone. take a look. a guy wearing a cubs jersey just kind of standing there. man in the hauled off and hit him. you can see put him out. the 36-year-old's name is alan anderson from illinois. he was out cold for minutes. he told police he got into the argument with the suspect and the witness who got this video says things got out of hand way too quick. >> the cubs fan said you guys just blew a 3-1 lead. [ bleep ] you. and then obvious no one likes to be told that. so the indians fan then went back at him and said you're all
4:11 pm
anything. fight me. [ bleep ] >> and then the cubs fan said hit me now. i dare you. you won't. and as soon as he said that, he was laying on the ground. he probably didn't move for about 12 minutes. >> reporter: anderson was treated for a cut on the mouth and a head injury. he was taken to metro. gosh. police still investigating. the victim isn'tal them anymore. so far they haven't found the suspect. getting answers on the story, chris tanaka, cleveland 19. >> romona: that's disturbing. >> chris: awful. >> romona: that's not like clevelanders. >> mark: no, it isn't. 'tis the season for oprah's favorite things. maybe you'll get gift ideas. that's still to come. but first. jeff. >> jeff: all right, ramona. let's look at the next few hours here. 58 the current temperature.

gun, demanded money. after receiving the money, they took off on foot. the victim is not injured. halloween home invasion. today police are still looking for those involved. >> romona: harry boomer is getting some answers from westlake police. harry, what are they telling you? >> harry: well, ramona and mark, it was definite a treat for one westlake family last night just before 8:00. two men tricked one of the homeowners into opening the front door and >> they came into the house. >> there's two people in your house with guns? >> i don't know if they're still here or not. >> reporter: you can hear the terror of the voice on the homeowners on the phone with the dispatcher. >> are you in a room where you're locked in. >> no. i'm in the closet. >> reporter: they told police that two men with their identities disguised forced their way into the house after the wife opened the door thinking it was
4:16 pm
the suspects wanted cash instead. >> they comdemanded money from woman and husband. and when he hesitated, he hit him over the head with the handgun and inflicted an jish injure. at this point they surrendered the cash they had in the house. >> reporter: it looks like the suspects knew exactly who they were robbing. captain guy turner says lots of money was taken but he wouldn't say exactly how much. he says crooks usually don't rob for just mere nothing else was taken from the house. no jewelry or anything else like that. getting answers in westlake, harry boomer, cleveland 19. always watching, always tracking. now your first alert forecast. >> jeff: all right. we saw that rain this morning. that was the front. and now you're feeling the drop in temperature right now. some cooler air. not abnormally cold. this is basically where we should be this time of year. we have a lot of low cloud cover out there.

showers north of detroit. i can't rule out a spot shower here or there. a little bit of lake-effect rain perhaps. and we're not seeing that now. if you do see something, i think it will be very brief and most likely along the lakeshore counties. we're going to stay cloudy. and even mostly cloudy tomorrow. it won't be until later on in the afternoon before we start to see significant breaks in the clouds. but get ready because tomorrow will actually be the first day yes, he said it. a dry spell is in the forecast. 54 tomorrow. we're back up to near 60, though, on saturday. a gorgeous weekend ahead. in fact, sunday 64. monday 66. and notice we have sun icons. and get this, no alert days the next seven days ahead. so we are in for some dry

media moguls popular list, and maybe you'll add some of these to your christmas list. >> reporter: she's one of the only woman that goes by one name, and she's known for the you get a pair of shoes, you get a coat, everybody gets a car. you know who i'm talking about. i'm talking about oprah. she has come out with her list of her favorite things just in time for the holidays. i went through her list, picked out a bunch of them. i picked out my favorites. some that i thought were cool. but, of course, you can find all of them out there as well. so, here, let's start with this those keys are so easy to lose? how about a blue tooth key finder. the key finder actually connects to your cell phone. we hang on to our cell phones nowadays. we can never lose those. but those keys are like the remote. we always lose that, right? these are really pretty. i thought it was a great gift idea for a set. a bone china set. $49.99 are the price for those mugs. now, this was a pricier piece
4:20 pm
for the kitchen lovers. it's an air frier. this is the advanced air fire excel. $309. it's a little bit pricier. now, this is also cool. you like pasta. maybe you're an italian like me. maybe you love to cook pasta. this will actually be the original pasta pot. $ $29.49. it comes with a strainer on it. it will strain the whole pot. you don't have to get an extra dish dirty. who doesn't love that. future mom have these. adorable. children's animal slippers $24. those are the different looks on them. i thought those were just so cute. i just had to show those. then we had the earrings. the winton stud earrings. look at all of the pastel c colors. those are very, very pretty. those are $72. keep in mind, these are oprah favorite. if it's her favorite, these all become really successful products that sell, sell, sell. and then last but not least, one item that i picked, this is the smart luggage set.
4:21 pm
but this comes with a charger. you can charge your cell phone when you're at the airport and your phones died. you actually can plug it right into your bag and you can charge it there. pretty cool, huh? oprah's favorite things. she's not giving them all out for free anymore. but these products all sell because, well, they're oprah's favorites. i'm laura demaria, cleveland 19. >> romona: i love the spot especially because it's purple. it's cute. >> mark: it wasn't the functionality. it's the look. looks good on the counter and the wall. >> romona: exactly. trending today, a tweet that seems to have predicted the world series before it happened. >> mark: i saw this. it freaks me out.
4:25 pm
pro thetic. >> romona: and for sale at nieman's collared greens. but first. >> mark: a creepy tweet is making its round. it predicted it in 2014. the twitter user made an impressive prediction that in 2016 world series the cubs would face the indians in extra inning after typing in game in game 7. odd, right. even more strange, the tweet also predicted the apocalypse saying the world would end at the end of the game. that must have been the rain. a loyal indians fan doesn't regret tattooing himself before the end of the world series. ohio native posted the photo on twitter before game 7 on chief wahoo next to the logo with the words 2016 champs.
4:26 pm
loss. yep, that's what you think this is. [ laughing ] >> mark: oh, no. >> romona: all right. collared greens on neiman marcus's website for $66, mark. >> mark: stop it. >> romona: plus $15.50 in shipping. it advertises that the vegetable is seasoned with the right amount of bacon and and it ships fully cooked and frozen. it's putting a bad name in people's mouth. they were sold out. i have been eating collared greens since i was a kid on the farm in missouri. and never, i would tell you, since we grew our own, would never pay that price. >> mark: and the people that made them would say i believe they're called collared greens. parents, there are apps your kids don't want you to know

less than a week away and the latest national poll shows hillary clinton is still ahead of donald trump. weijia jiang has the latest from the white house. >> reporter: donald trump and hillary clinton crisscrossed the critical battle ground states of north carolina and florida thursday. the candidates also deployed big name surrogates. >> he can't hear you boo but he can hear you vote. >> reporter: president obama 139% from 2012. obama says a trump presidency would be disastrous for america. >> all of you are uniquely qualified to make sure that this uniquely unqualified person does not become president. >> reporter: trump's wife hit the campaign trail in pennsylvania. as first lady, she says she would fight against cyber bullying. >> we have to find a better way to talk to each other, to disagree with each other, to respect each other.
4:32 pm
news new york times poll shows clinton's national lead is shrinking. she's up by 3 points. but campaign advisors say trump could turn historically blue states red. >> if mr. trump wins pennsylvania, this election is over. >> reporter: while both candidates are trying to tip the electoral college map in their favor, only 8% of voters say their minds might change before election day. weijia jiang, cbs news, the white house. pinpointing the weather where you now your cleveland 19 first alert forecast. >> jeff: a lot of cloud cover out there. it's feeling more like a november day with all this gray sky that we have. no rain right now. but we could have a spot shower or two tonight. just a little bit of lake-effect. and that will be it. if we don't see any rain tonight, it's a dry spell that will begin tomorrow. and that means a sun filled weekend. temperatures will start to go up again into even early next week.
4:33 pm
as we see things right now. we're mainly in the 50s. so nothing too cold. 55 in elyria. 56 ashtabula. we've just been holding steady in the upper 50s. dover-new philly, though, you're still at 63. 7:00, 54. 9:00, 53. and if we do get an isolated shower around in cleveland, most likely that could happen around the midnight hour. and no alert days the next seven. so that tells you right out of the gate that we'ren stretch of weather here. mostly cloudy, seasonable tomorrow. 54. 48 at 8:00 a.m. 51 at 11:00. i do think, though, as the afternoon wears on tomorrow that we will see the clouds break up a little more. akron-canton looks like a mostly cloudy sky for you. more sun late day and a high of 54. friday night football games will be chilly. but much more on that weekend
4:34 pm
coming up. ramona. ramona all right. right now we're asking parents are you aware of what's on your child's phone. secret apps, dark apps and apps that give strangers direct access to your kids. when it comes to technology, though, we send dan deroos to get the answers. >> dan: ramona, when i started getting into this story, i thought i had a pretty good handle on new websites and apps that are out there. but even i got a little bit shocked at some of this. and the easy access like apps like omegal where you go here and you're instantly talking to a >> we're going to shift gears. >> reporter: dr. kathleen stans bury is a professor who is an expert in the field of social media, apps and the internet. >> parental involvement with social media is engrained. limits should be set early. >> reporter: but before you listen to her as an expert, she's also a parent. >> my son, my 7-year-old in particular, we spend a fair amount of time online, but we do it together. >> reporter: i came to
4:35 pm
technologies are out there that parents need to look for on their kid's phones, tablets and computers. our first topic, apps that are actually hidden vaults. i found this one called calculator plus, but trust me, it has nothing to do with a calculator. it's a false front that once you open the app, you need a password. from there you have access to files to hide picks and video. >> that would be a huge red flag that there's something going on that my child doesn't want me to be aware of anyone to be aware of. and it's natural to want priefs -- privacy. but to actively go through the process of hiding something, that's not going to work. >> reporter: the next type of app and website of concern is the continued popularity of anonymous chat sites which also have app versions. what started with chat roulette has exploded into sites like omegal. when you search omegal on google, look what comes up.
4:36 pm
i feel like haven't we been telling kids not to talk to strangers >> dan: the concern is there's no sign up, no e-mail, no phone number, meaning no way to track by who is posting what. you click and instantly start texting a complete stranger. we used the internet version of omegal and in a split second we were connected to a stranger who said she was a 21-year-old in seconds, she was telling us to look her up on another anonymous app kick. there is a pic of her or at least who she says she is. she tells us we're glad she's texted and she's bored. >> this seems innocent enough. i'm assuming this is -- >> probably not. >> dan: going to go a different direction. >> i would imagine. >> dan: and then in a matter of seconds, she directs us to a third app to see yet another pic. and this is clearly heading down
4:37 pm
that conversation that happened so quickly, what is that saying to you? >> it just shows how easy it is to first of all go from site to site. so it's not -- we talk about dangerous sites or dangerous apps. but it's not one location. it's that your phone and your computer and the web in general facilitates lots of interactions. a lot of them are good. a lot of them are not. >> dan: bottom line, parents need to relationship with their kids and the types of media they're using before you just hand them a phone for the first time. >> it's a conduit into a massive amount of people. so just as you wouldn't, i don't know, send your kid into a crowded auditorium with a ton of people and go make friends and not monitor them, you can't do that with the phone either. >> dan: there are two devices
4:38 pm
first parental control. >> parental control seems to be more related to maybe making things not available or you can -- there are apps so that you can have the phone shut off -- you can only use apps for a certain amount of time. >> dan: and then things called nanny control apps. >> if a child down loads a new app, maybe you can get a pink on your phone or an alert so you're actually connecting your phone or your technology with your child's. >> dan: bottom line, the and the kids are getting smarter and parents have to try to keep up. in defense of omegal that lets you talk on their website right down here in the very, very small print. first of all, if you're under 13 you're not supposed to be using the site. and then down here in the continued small print, parental control protections are available. they even give you a link to some of those. so just try to keep ahead of your kids and we're trying to
4:39 pm
deroos, back to you. >> romona: dan, that's good information. coming up in timeout today, mark schwab and i will discuss what else. that heart-breaking world series loss. >> mark: it was hard. and lebron's advice for the cleveland indians. that's coming up after the break. . right now we are looking pretty good. 77 in and out of the city. i have a hunch a lot of people stayed up late and slept it off. there you go
4:42 pm
. fnow for a quick timeout wih ramona and tony. >> romona: sports illustrated is celebrating with a cover. the magazine moved up production which reads all the way. the cover is already up on ci's website and platforms. copies will start reaching news stands and subscribers as early as saturday. good for the cubs. we aren't salty, are we? yeah, right. i can't believe -- >> mark: we're supposed to be salty. our team just lost the world series. >> romona: i've had friends say to me, ramona, the cavs just won five months ago. >> mark: that doesn't mean we want to lose. >> romona: i know. >> mark: even if the cavs lost the nba finals the year before, we knew at that moment they were going to be back in it the next
4:43 pm
you have no idea if they're going to get back. it is so hard to get to the world series. you don't know when they're going to get back. >> romona: we did have injuries. like lebron lost kyrie. he lost kevin love and he came back and they won it. so that can happen for the tribe. >> mark: yep. but it's just much harder for them to get to the world series than cavaliers to make it to the nba finals. but they're in pretty good shape. this was a tweet yesterday from the indians. technically -- i don't know. was it last night or this morning. >> romona: one of those. >> mark: yes. never game up. our story book season falls just short. congrats to chicago. you tweet that out. that's good. they put it up on the scoreboard. it was hard to see. chicago cubs world series champions. >> romona: i guess if you're going to lose to a team, one that hasn't won since 1908. i guess that's okay. >> mark: no. there's no okay.
4:44 pm
sporp -- sportsmanship. >> mark: i already said congratulations. >> romona: let's hear from the cavs and their reaction. >> mark: lebron talked about it today. >> you look at the game last night. it was just -- it was an unbelievable game. probably one of the best game 7 in sports that we've seen in a long time. and both teams will try to get better and be better for next season. >> romona: sin better, everyone kept telling me that the indians and cubs as far as pitching we were evenly matched. so -- >> mark: you mean going into last night? >> romona: the whole series. >> mark: no. >> romona: they said we had -- >> mark: they have no idea what they're talking about. >> mark: the two guys they threw. arrieta and hendricks. imagine if they lost them in the last week of september.
4:45 pm
>> romona: wow. >> mark: and they still took it. >> romona: glad that sports person doesn't work for us. >> mark: almost the entire team is back next year. two free agents. mike napoli and davis. napoli a bigger part. davis the big homerun. both guys are 35. both guys are 35, which is near the end of the line. i think it's probably easier to keep davis. they're going to have to decide he had the big year. slowed in september. slowed in the playoffs. he's 35 and somebody offers him four years, he might have to find a different way to replace his numbers. >> romona: 35. near the end of the line. denise, we're in trouble. [ laughing ]. >> reporter: it's a good thing we're 29. coming up on cleveland 19 news at 5:00 tonight, a political debate for the u.s. senate turned extremely physical, and we are getting answers on what set off the

first half of the day. i think we will see more breaks in the clouds, though, as the afternoon wears on. down to 39 tomorrow night with that clear sky. look at the weekend. wow. sunshine both days. saturday's high 59. saturday night 43. and sunday sunny, 64. clocks back an hour. we're going back to eastern standard time this weekend. looking pretty nice for the browns game. monday 66 and sunny. there's election more of a mostly cloudy sky. but for now i'm going to keep it dry. 64. wednesday 58. thursday 60. and one thing that's lacking, rain. no alert days coming up the next seven. so after the 54, up we go into the 60s by sunday. and that 66 on monday, that will feel nice. ramona. >> romona: all right, jeff, thank you. coming up at 4:00, pilot proposal. >> mark: a captain takes a leap of faith and asks one woman to
