" local 5 news at 10 in hd starts now. we are iowa" "all law enforcement is in this together all public saftey is in this together " stephanie: tonight, iowa is as vulnerable as any city when it comes to terror attacks. and we're reminded of that as we watch what's unfolding after mass shooting in california. stephanie/2shot good evening. i'm stephanie angleson. jack/2shot and i'm jack miller. tonight-- the 14 victims of the san bernadino shooting are identified. plus we're learning new details about the shooters that show they may have been radlicalized. jack: investigators are still searching for a motive. but they found that the two have been in touch with people being

international terrorism. the shooting left 14 people dead. the coroner released the names of all the victims earlier today. police say the attackers had more than 16 hundred bullets with them when they were gunned down in their s- u-v yesterday. police chief jarrod burguan: here at the scene, at the regional center what we have total is we believe the suspects when they entered fired somewhere between 65 and 75 rounds from their rifles at the scene. we did locate the one pipe bomb that was actually three pipe bombs combined into one that had a remote control, jack: police found more than 3 thousand rounds of ammunition at their home, 12 pipe bombs and hundreds of tools that could be used to make bombs. jack: the san bernadino shooting is the 355th mass shooting in the u-s this year. a mass shooting is defined as four or more victims. there have been more mass shootings this year than calendar days. stephanie:

mass shooting, four or more people have to be shot. so far this year...two such shootings have happened in iowa. stephanie: one in davenport back in june and one here in the metro just last month. one person was killed and three were injured outside of the evolution night club in des moines on november eighth. in the seven months they've been open, police have been called out nearly 70 times. and on june fifth, davenport police were called to a shooting downtown. five people were shot, none of the injuries were life threatening. stephanie: tragedy like the california and decisive action from law enforcement. some departments are changing the way they train their officers and the tools they use to combat ever- criminal behaviors. from nevada in tonight's big story.

brown and black forum is still on the calendar. it's scheduled for 7:00 p-m, january 11-th, at drake university in des moines. stephanie: a histroic announcement from the petagon today. the u-s military is opening all combat posts to women. all women will now be able to fill all jobs currently limited to men, including infantry and some special operations units. the decision comes after years-long reviews and public push-back from some within the military. the marine corp had sought exceptions to the new rule -- at one point releasing a study suggesting all- male squads are more effective in combat than integrated groups. stephanie: senator joni ernst, who just announced her retirement from the u-s national guard, says she supports this opportunity as long as the standards are not lowered and it enhances combat efeectivness. she wants to make sure this decision is a military decision not a political one. senator ernst is the first female combat veteran
