smile to your face, and if you dig a little deeper, you'll find there's quite a story behind each of them. i went to see a couple beautiful displays in the metro, where the owners are showcasing the spirit of the season. natural sound of car driving by. it's hard to miss the lights on this winding des moines road. dave briddle, des moines resident: "we just started with one little santa and some lights around the windows, and it's just kind of grown from there." natural sound: "we're used to cars stopping by and sometimes we hear a honk." hundreds of bulbs...so splendidly spread, it can bring cars to a halt. but after 15 years for the briddles, it's a passion you can't fault. nathan briddle, des moines resident: "i'm not sure if you plan on getting to that point, but growing up i didn't expect it to be that big, but obviously, year by year, i get used to it more and more." after months of planning, the lights will stay here for a while. dave briddle, des moines resident: "the technology of just seeing the christmas lights and just seeing the candy canes and santa and the nativity scenes is what we're all about. we don't feel the need to do the synchronized lights." jacob peklo, reporting: "if lights aren't all that you're looking for, check out this house in grimes. it's full of inflatables,

just four, now there's more than 30." dave bagley, grimes resident: "i've got remotes for all these. so, if something happens, i can shut them down real quick. ministries finidhed up its last minute preparations, before beginning its christmas outreach. people dropped off food donations throughout the day to be be used for tomorrow's
