right back here tomorrow night..james/wx wall blizzard watch will take effect late monday night and last through late tuesday night for portions of iowa. caucus monday should be dry and quiet during the daytime hours. temperatures will be mild as well in upper 30s. monday night after 6pm in southern iowa and closer to midnight in the metro, the winter snow storm should by knocking on our door. we should start with a little rain/snow mix, then light snow overnight. 1-2" possible by morning. the snow will last through the day on tuesday, tuesday night, and wrap up wednesday morning. there will be strong winds associated with the moderate to heavy snowfall reducing visibility to near whiteout conditions at times in parts of the state. currently, many areas in the state, can expect over a half foot of snow. areas of western iowa could be in store for 8-12" of snow when its all over. beyond the early week winter storm, central iowa dries out while temperatures tumble into the single digits at night and teens and 20s for daytime highs. enjoy your sunday evening! local 5 meteorologist james peterson nikki also coming up
