officials are taking quick action. "action news" reporter andie mccormack has the store friday mercer county. >> i received a call from the state and cdc last evening, and that is when we referred it on to the medical examiner and she made confirmation this morning. >> reporter: four year-old eli waller could be first case where enterovirus d68 is the actual cause of the death. saturday the mercer county medical examiner announced eli's succumbed to the virus last thursday. this friday, the the enters for disease control confirmed the samples were in fact, d68. >> it is a reason to send samples to atlanta to confirm it was a d68 strain of the enterovirus. >> reporter: another little boy from the schoocame down with symptoms several weeks ago. he went to the hospital but we are told that now he is resting at home comfortably but doctors took samples from him and have sent them the two cdc. they are waiting to get those test results back. officials are optimistic his results will not show the the d68 d68 strain. both boys attend yardville

no symptoms of the deadly virus. meantime plane's passengers and crew were allowed off the plane after 90 minutes. meantime the condition of the man being treated for ebola in dallas has taken a turn for the worst. hospital officials say thomas duncan is listed in critical condition. previously he was listed in serious but stable condition. about 50 other people who had contact with duncan are still being watched for signs of the deadly disease. that includes nine people believed to be at higher risk. >> all of the nine who had definite contact, we were able to reach, so we are confident that in of those with definite contact had any symptoms, related to ebola, none of them had fever. >> duncan traveled from liberia to dallas last month before he started showing symptoms of the disease. he is now being treated in isolation. well, some neighbors in the section of the port richmond woke up this morning to find out a vandal had gone through slashing tires. several vehicles were targeted including one, owned by the

city of philadelphia "action news" reporter kenneth moton is live in port richmond with the very latest, kenneth. >> reporter: well, walter no vehicle was safe on block in port richmond as you mention there had were a number of victims, including this city of philadelphia van, that has this tire right here slashed. "action news" was there as philadelphia police were at it again, taking more reports, and of more tire slashings, this time in port richmond. >> people should not be doing that. it don't matter if they are mad at them or not mad at them. so i think it is just plane wrongdoing that. >> it is just reckless, definitely reckless. >> reporter: saturday morning owners of the vehicles in the 3200 block of frankford avenue near allegheny woke up to flat tires and repair bills in the hundreds. it appears that eight vehicles, including the the city of philadelphia van, were hit. for some, multiple tires were targeted by the vandal or vandals, neighbor carlos, says he remembers hearing the rush of air from the punctures

slashing victims were able to get their cars towed away or have their tires change on the scene but others, like this city vehicle here remain. east detectives are looking for tips tonight on this case, and that one in juniata park, walter, reporting live, this evening from port richmond, kenneth moton for channel six "action news". police in philadelphia are searching for the person who shot a man on a west oak lane street. it happened at 4:30 this morning on the 6900 block of ogontz avenue. the victim is a 44 year old man. he was shot in the chest, groin, and back and taken to einstein hospital, in stable condition. we've learn that a home in chester where a fatal fire broke out overnight has been fired bombed in the past. five two-year old anthony gorman, senior died in the blaze when broke out at 2:30 on the 1,000 block of baldwin street. fire fighters were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes or so but it was still too late. gorman was unable to escape. still no word how the the fire startedded, or if this incident is somehow linked to the previous fire.t3 fire in aston delaware

county left behind some serious damage overnight. it broke out at 4:00 o'clock in the morning on the 200 block of norman street. fire fighters say when they arrived flames were shooting from the rare bedroom. two people were able to escape without injury and no word on the cause there either. investigators are trying to find a person who stabbed a teenager, overnight right across the street, from philadelphia police headquarters. the it happened at 12:30 a.m. in franklin square park at eighth and race street. teenage victim apparently got into some kind of dispute with two men, stab in the chest and rush to the hospital in serious condition. a commuter has been hospitalized after a car crash forced him to spend the night inside of his vehicle in fairmount park. investigators say it was about midnight when the 34 year-old man lost control of his koran forbidden drive and rolled down an embankment. he was trapped inside. he was finally found by someone the at 6:30 in the morning and that person of course quickly called 911. emergency crew where is able to free the man and remains in serious condition at einstein

accused cop killer eric frein reportly wrote a text message saying quote all is good the in the hours before he allegedly opened fire on a state police barracks last month. times tribune of scranton reports that about 6:00 p.m. on september 12th, frein texted a friend saying he was headed for delaware. late their night investigators say frein instead headed for state police barracks in blooming grove where he killed one trooper and injured another. authorities have been searching for him ever since. a couple from indiana is pleading with istoys release their son from captivity. ed and paula, released their
