are watching today it's the system off to the west right now, as we look live at stormtracker 6 live double scan and the dig story this afternoon is the big question, could we see the first snowflakes tonight. cecily tynan is live at the big board with the answer from accuweather. >> and the answer is yes, we are already seeing snow mixing with sleet in honey brook and coatesville is getting a mix and stormtracker 6 live double scan showing what is going on there is north cold front to the west and this brings us a reindivoeig shot and it is picking up moisture ahead of it, future tracker 6 shows this is mostly rain and it's cold enough that some of this is mixing in with snow and coatesville and lancaster, if you look at york and gettysburg it's all snow and we are looking at a change over

to without snowflakes in parts of our viewing area, right now it's colder than yesterday but still too warm for snow in most of our area. millville 45 and allentown 42 but tonight the temperatures are dropping, at 8:00 tonight you can see some of that mixing and snow in the northwest suburbs it's moving closer to philadelphia at midnight and then this is a quick moving system and not a lot of moisture to work with and it's out of here tomorrow morning. bear in mind the ground is very warm, don't be cranking up the snow blowers just yet. tonight initially rain showers mixing in with wet snow along the i-95 corridor north and west. but there will be potential for a grassy coating in spots and the north and west suburbs. i'm getting new information and tonight on "action news" at 11:00. i'll have details on what to

headquarters. >> all right chad thank you. >> a suspect was killed by police today at 7:00 a.m. when officers responded to a home on wilson street after reports of a man with a gun. the man started shooting at the police officers before they even got out of their vehicle. it took more than five hours to clean up an accident that blocked part of the ben franklin bridge today, the truck overturned at 5:00 a.m. spilling its cargo of lumber, the crash involved an extensive cleanup and massive delays from drivers coming from philadelphia to new jersey. all lanes finally reopened at 10:30 this morning. the driver reported just minor injuries this morning. two men that saved a philadelphia police officer are being honored for their bravery. city council recognized joe chambers and dante johnson, they rescued officer mark kinsy

here at the big board with new developments about a man that was killed after an attempted carjacking at a mall in northern new jersey. abc news has exclusive chilling new video showing the gang of alleged carjackers at the mall at short hills. dustin friedland was gunned down and now his wife jaime's wrongful death suit against the mall. it shows the suspects stalked the parking lot in their two tonighted suburban days before he was killed. the detective believes that this was a dry run. >> they are willing to stake out

celebrity's plane flying off mid-flight. they believe it happened approaching the airport. two suitcases did fall out of the plane but the jet was in no danger of crashing. checking stocks on this thursday, the dow jones closed up more than 18 points to 17,630, and the nasdaq and s&p both ended down today. the controversial ride sharing service, uber x won an experimental two year license, they can arrange private rides through much of the pennsylvania but not philadelphia. the public utility commissions says this is a last chance with ongoing concerns about safety and pricing issues. the taj mahal will close on december 12th if the main union does not drop its appeal. they are appealing the

cancellation of the contract for health insurance and pensions. union representatives have not commented. city leaders said thank you this morning to some of philadelphia's key job creators, they were at penn's landing, these men and women supply the support for the work ready program that supplies yearly and summer jobs to the city's youth, it helps to give some 10,000 young people jobs this year alone. there will be a hot meal on the table for some struggling families thanks to a food bank in delaware. the complete dinner goes to 300 local households in need. they are using it to bring fruits and veggies to more

stormtracker 6 live double scan, showing a reenforcing shot of cold air and yes this is coming with not only rain showers but also snow showers. lets go closer on stormtracker 6 live double scan, can you see that it has changed all over to snow in lancaster, york and some mixing reported in honey brook chester county. and it's turning to white as the temperatures drop and it's chilly out there. i want to show you a photo that was tweeted to me by scott in honey brook, pennsylvania, admittedly you can't build a snowman with this, but honey brook is seeing the first flakes of the season a mixture of snow and sleet. it will bring us a touch of snow. a big change in temperatures from yesterday. 45 in millville and 42 in allentown and reading 38 degrees

and land caster 38 degrees. that is high enough for snow because higher in the atmosphere temperatures are below freezing, it was 17 degrees cooler in philadelphia, i was wearing shorts, and trn ton 19 degrees cooler and it's going to get even colder behind the system. satellite 6 along with action radar showing it clouded up and some of that moisture is beginning to move in, it's not a big system it's not going to drop a lot of snow, it's not going to drop a lot of rain but we'll have some precipitation in the overnight hours, future tracker showing at 8:00, mainly rain around philadelphia, the snow showers across the north and west suburbs and at 11:30 the snow line will get closer to the i-95 corridor. and it sneaks out quickly and by 7:00 the sunshine is back and the temperatures are going to be cold tomorrow and windchills will be in the mid-30s, the best chance of seeing a coating, i'm

it is time for the buzz. the cake boss has been arrested for drunk driving, he was seen driving erratically through manhattan, when they pulled him over police say he smelled like alcohol and failed a breathalyzer test. this is a brand new bakery that he just opened this past weekend in marlton. no comment so far from valasco.

by their adult daughter for college tuitions now we hear from the grandparents that helped her file the petition. trenton police thought they were responding to a home invasion call and instead they found themselves in the middle of a fire fight. david henry is live now in trenton with details. >> reporter: brian, a real sense of relief here at trenton police headquarters. a close call for the officers after they came under fire this morning. the windshield of this police vehicle tells the story three bullet holes through the windshield right through the driver's seat, it happened this morning when police were called to the 300 block of wilson street of a man with a gun. >> they saw the suspect there and the suspect opened fire on their vehicle and they returned fire. the suspect died a short time

later at the hospital. at least one officer was saved by his body armor. they are both there for observation and they have not identified the suspect, they went through the neighborhood looking for video. and they found shell casings that littered the street and the porch of one of the houses. >> i heard 20 shots, literally i was sleeping and boom boom boom boom, boom boom boom. they were like heavy gunshots not like .22's or anything like that. i know gun fire because i laird it so many times. >> this left a man dead and officers shaken up after coming under direct fire. we are expecting an update sometime soon. live in trenton, david henry, channel 6 "action news." >> david, thank you.

prosecutors say they will not charge the adults that recorded two young boys violently fighting in wilmington, they were throwing punches on the 200 block of rodney street, people cheered them on even laughing. they believe the behavior was inappropriate and say there was nothing to warrant criminal charges. an investigation revealed the boys are in the care of their grandmother and she asked the boys to stop fighting several times and neither child was physically injured. >> now to a followup on a "action news" special report generating a lot of buzz. we talked about two new jersey parents ask food contribute to their adult daughter's education against their will. despite a midnight deadline to cough of thousands, they say their estranged child is not entitled to a dime.

reenforcing shot of cool air another cold front is moving in and you can see in philadelphia we are showing the green, that is the rain showers and we are getting a change over to some snow showers in some of our north and west suburbs, a mixing in honey brook a half hour ago and it has changed over to snow and snowing west of the coatesville and as the temperatures drop we'll see more. changeover in the north and west suburbs. this is really the timetable of seeing the snowflakes in the air in the north and west suburbs between now and 10:00 tonight. the philadelphia metro area along i-95 from 10:00 tonight and 1:00 in the morning, we'll see the change over to snow, as far as south jersey and delaware, this is mainly just a rain shower event, little if any snowflakes in the air but behind the system it gets colder. coming up in the full accuweather forecast. >> all right cecily thank you. well, police are searching for the man that stabbed an

mcdonald's worker over an argument over the restaurant's hours, it happened at the mcdonald's at gray's ferry. he told the suspect that the dining room was about to close. he grows irate and yells at the worker who he then follows outsi outside. as she walked away the man stabbed her in the back. the suspect is still on the loose today. a 35-year-old delaware plan is accuse of raping a girl 32 times in the past two months, they caught fletcher tillman with the victim and he is already a registered sex offender and he is facing charges including third degree rape. a woman dies after being caught in a house fire last night. flames spread just at 11:00 p.m., though crews were able to

rescue the woman in her 80s, she still suffered second and third degree burns and north man was take and to temple hospital for treatment. the cause remains under investigation. pennsylvania's attorney general was told to stay home now after a doctor diagnosed her with a concussion, the spokesperson for kathleen kane was told not to go back to work. an agent assigned to her crashed the car in which she was riding, kaine was in the back seat and not wearing a seatbelt and struck the window with her head. a record breaking donation will help keep philadelphia police officers safe for years to come. independence blue cross donated $100,000 to the police foundation this morning. that money will go towards the

>> yes! >> we do have a few flakes flying upper ukland around the chester turnpike this is not going to create icy conditions on the road or anything but the roads are wet, you can see this in the shot on route 100, these are the headlights going down 118 going north. the snow is not causing a huge issue. in chester county an issue in east goshen is closing boot road between enterprise drive, and 352 is a possible alternate. and the wreck on the eastbound side of 452, the crash is eastbound past stowe. and luckily our broken down vehicle 95 past the betsy ross bridge is out of the way. slow speeds in the teens in both directions and 295 in gloucester

right now 46 degrees in philadelphia, a lot colder than yesterday, yesterday we hit 70, wilmington 44, these are the areas reporting the snow, allentown 39 and reading 36 and lancaster dropping down to 33 degrees, satellite 6 along with action radar showing this is not a tremendous storm that is moving in. it does have enough moisture it is creating rain and snow showers and future tracker showing at 8:30 tonight we'll see a ban of rain and snow showers across the northwest suburbs, by 10:30, 11:30, we'll see it getting closer to philadelphia and areas of south jersey and delaware, maybe some mixing but mainly a rain event for you. this storm system will intensify across new england, kids do your homework tonight are you going to school, the best chance of a coating on the grassy surfaces will be the far north and west
