look at your weather and track. good morning. >> all right, guys, a tranquil start but it does look like thunderstorms are part of the package later today. satellite shows you sun early. cloud cover is starting to come in from the west and there is some scattered shower activity that will bloss to me into thunderstorms as we head into the afternoon. could be fairly quickly this afternoon. 69 degrees in philadelphia comfortable for the morning commute. 69 in wilmington, 62 in allentown, 70 degrees for your early morning stroll on the boardwalk in sea isle city. as we head out the noor philadelphia, between six and 8 o'clock we're expecting it to be dry. mild a nice start, 66 by 6 o'clock and 71 degrees by 8 o'clock. on your storm tracker six app looking for a warm one. by noon 81 degrees. our high will be 86 at 3 o'clock but any time after about noon or so across most of the region starting out in the western suburbs and then ending up in the center of the region there is that chance of a strong thunderstorm, some of them could be gusty and with a little bit of building humidity today there could

even be drenching downpours. a little note about today. we are getting an extra second. matt i know you want to start planning on what you want to do with this, a second being added to our clock by astronomers and it's because the earth's orbit is slowly slowing so they need to make an adjustment. 86,401 seconds instead of an even 86400. plans karen. >> i have a long list. let's start with the traffic looking live on the vine street expressway westbound and eastbound. still looks blocked at this point and we've been watching this with the construction going on scheduled to clear in about a half hour. it will close again at 11 o'clock for that construction on the vine. i-95 approaching cottman no extra overnight construction, no delays. looking okay right here. southbound traffic headed towards center city with no problems and a good shot of the roads right here. no weather related issues at the moment affecting us right there. on the big picture we continue to have some closures. we're watching that right now. fifty-second street remains

closed near westminster due to that water main break for awhile ago now. looking the blue route schuylkill i-95 no, major issues. a lot going on in south philadelphia. the mann center we've got at 7 o'clock a performance there so we'll be watching for that and the phils at 7:05. you'll see lots of congestion there. tam. >> thank you karen. this story is developing this morning. philadelphia police are right now looking for the gunman who shot a man and a pregnant woman overnight killing an unborn baby. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live on the scene in west oak lane. katherine, what's the latest on this story? >> reporter: well, tam that's right, two victims shot here last night and police say one of of the victims was a pregnant woman. she was around four months pregnant and she did lose her baby. the man believed to be her boyfriend and the father of that baby remains in stable condition at the hospital. she's in critical condition. this happened right over there by that utility pole here on the 7300 block of thouron avenue in west oak lane around 10 o'clock last night.

witnesses told police they heard some sort of argument and then gun shots. when police arrived she was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car. the engine was still running. the 32-year-old woman had been shot in her lower back. the 46-year-old man was lying nearby on the sidewalk. he had been shot several times in both legs. police believe the shooting happened outside the car after being shot they think the woman got in the front seat. >> she is still present in critical condition. it's unknown whether or not she's going to survive her injuries. she was immediately taken to surgery due to the fact that not only was she shot but the fact that she was pregnant. >> reporter: investigators believe at least four shots were fired by a large caliber semi-automatic handgun. they're surging for surveillance video in the area to see if there's any one that can help in this case. right now all they know is they're looking for two men who they say fled the scene. they're looking for a more detailed description. call northwest detectives if you have any tips. we're live in west oak lane,

katherine scott channel6 "action news." matt. >> an off duty philadelphia police officer was injured in a crash. this happened on the 9500 block of germantown avenue in the city's chestnut hill section just after midnight. the officer lost control of the vehicle, hit a tree and landed near a fence. he was trapped and rescuers had to cut him out. the officer suffered minor injuries and is in stable condition. camden county police want to know if you recognize this man in the sketch. they say he schedulely sexually assaulted a woman in camden. he attacked her behind the off broadway line behind the 500 block of spruce street at 6:30 a.m. detectives are investigating reports of other assaults against women in the same area. >> happening today, new jersey governor chris christie will hit the go button officially announcing he's in the race for 2016. erin o'hearn is at the "action news" big board with more on the governor's presidential plans. good morning. good morning. and the new jersey governor known for his blunt outspoken style is throwing his hat in

the ring after speculation about a potential presidential run has been brewing for years. he will enter the race as an be underdog, though. christie is expected to make the campaign official today at 11 o'clock at livingston high school. perhaps because he was once president of the student body there. now, ahead of today's announcement, this video was posted sunday and all but confirmed his white house ambitions. >> ♪♪ i get accused a lot of times of being too blunt and too direct and saying what's on my mind just a little bit too loudly. >> reporter: now t-experts insist christie has a lot to overcome in order to be a viable candidate for 2016 including a 30 percent approval rate as governor and the lingering 2013 bridgegate scandal. no legal authorities have found he was involved in the apparent act of political retribution questions about christie's involvement have been damaging. he's also faced criticism at home for the shut down of many atlantic city casinos that have punctured the state's

economy and a pension system supported by christie that has billions in unfunded liabilities. one new jersey political expert says christie's a candidate who peaked in 2013 but it would be unwise to counter him out now. >> i think in the darkest moments of bridgegate many observers thought that perhaps this was an administration that was over and thought that indictments would go broader. but watching the governor over the many years, the five years that i've been watching him it is clear that he is very capable of rebounding and that he's a masterful retail politician. >> reporter: again christie's announcement is expected at 11:00 a.m. dan we will be carrying that live on 6abc. christie will leave right after the speech to campaign in new hampshire. tam, back to you. >> okay, thank you erin. and more mitt romney cal news. could the democratic race for 2016 be getting more interesting? there's vac this morning vice president joe biden may toss his hat into the ring.

the wall street journal reports that the untimely death of his son beau biden encouraged him to run again. a source tells the journal the veep has set a deadline of early august to make a decision. >> the state of pennsylvania will help hepp pay for cleanup following last week's storms. they asked governor tom wolf declare a state of emergency so the county would be available for disaster aid. eight municipalities saw substantial damage when the storms hit one week ago tonight. the city of chester alone sustained more than $2.5 million in damage. residents in gloucester county new jersey are from us straighted overpower problems related to those same storms. atlantic city electric is still working to restore power to a few hundred customers. 280,000 of the utility's customers had no power. neighbors in greenwich township are still waiting to get trees off their houses and

>> it is 4:42. we are following breaking news. a large military plane crashed into a residential neighborhood in indonesia. hospital officials say at least 20 people were killed. the c130 turbo prop had just taken off from a nearby indonesian air force base. it partially destroyed buildings when it hit the ground and hen erupt need planes. 12 people were on board the

transport aircraft. >> you can imagine how frightening it was for those people in that neighborhood. >> no kidding. >> we'll take a turn and talk about accuweather. >> warmer today. the big issue will be thunderstorms that could pop up during the afternoon. storm tracker six live double scan shows you locally we are dry for the morning commute. a little bit of something out to the west of the poconos but that's not immediately headed in our direction. as we take a look outside we have sky6, the ben franklin bridge fairly comfortable to start out and we'll probably see a little bit of early sunshine but we are looking at higher humidity later at a and of course that thunderstorm chance. temperature right now in philadelphia is 69 degrees. it might feel a little bit extra humid this morning than what it did yesterday morning with that dewpoint just above the 60-degree threshold for humid air. winds very, very light out of the south-southeast at just 3 miles per hour so not a whole lot going on out there. as we take a look at future tracker six today, though the issue will be an increase in clouds followed by the potential for a thunderstorm popping up and by noon we could see some showers and perhaps some thunderstorms beginning to build in from the

west. we move this up forward to 3 o'clock and you can see how the thunderstorms are potentially coming all the way into philadelphia. remember yesterday the model was showing them mostly to the west but i said we'll allow for hem to push farther to the east. the model is locking into that idea. those that see these could get drenching downpours and prance gusty winds. by 6 o'clock we're hoping most of this action the beginning to get suppressed although even as we go through the evening and 10, 11 o'clock period with adam and cecily there's a chance they'll be showing you something on radar. there's a slight chance of severe storms developing and anything that does form could give you some gusty winds. i don't know that everyone is going to see that but i just who toying show you that the storm prediction center is allowing for it all the way into philadelphia and over toward the shore. 71 degrees by 8 o'clock yes the degrees by 11 o'clock. 85 degrees by 2 o'clock. it is going to be warm today with a late day high of 86 degrees. we'll probably hit that around 3:00 or 3:30. by 5 o'clock back to 82. again through the afternoon and evening hours there is

that thunderstorm chance. high temperatures from north to south 80 degrees in allentown, glynn reading. 82 in trenton. down the shore on or about 80. i want o to go in closer to the shore. we have an, with rip currents. we had rescues along the water yesterday and there's another concern rip currents could be an issue. yes, 71 in the water and nice outbitch buton the beach but only swim near the lifeguards. 81 in bethany beach 70 in the water off delaware. for the phillies 79 degrees for the first pitch, 74 for the ninth inning but there's that possibility of a thunderstorm around. i think they'll get the game in but something to keep in mind. tomorrow front comes at us. it will be more humid and warm in you have the front of the front with high of 87 and the chance of thunderstorms triggered by that front. your seven-day forecast, today's high 86 getting a little bit more humid during the day and a thunderstorm chance. union tonight at ppl park. hopefully we aren't delayed

there. 87 degrees humid tomorrow with another chance of some thunderstorms and thursday still looks a bit unsettled with a high of 87. friday there could be a little rain in the morning but overall looks like a drier day with a mix clouds and sun. saturday still has the chance after spotty storm i think most of your fireworks are display. keep your eyes on radar and it now looks dry for sunday. >> good because some people have fireworks on sunday, too. >> yes, they do. >> thank you david. the state of new jersey has grant add local facility permission to grow medical marijuana. new jersey's health department issued a permit yesterday to compassionate sciences of bellmawr, camden county. it becomes the fifth nonprofit in the state to be licensed to grow. the facility says it will likely be at least three months before marijuana's actually grown and sold to patients. >> here at the big board taking that first look at business a change at new castle county airport in delaware. frontier airlines says that's all folks. it's shutting down service for low cost carrier started flying there just two years

ago and at first frontier said it was ending seasonal service with the last flight in april but now it says that was it. it's all done with operations in delaware. frontier is the seventh airline to try to have service at the airport since the 1960's. apple streaming music service will get going today. it will allow users to create playlists and download songs to listen to later. the service will cost you $10 a month. let's see how it does against other streaming services. and the debt in greece throwed major selloff on wall street with the dow dropping 350 points. this morning futures seem to be pointing to a higher open. the fourth of july is saturday and if you're planning to head out of town, well, get trod have a lot of company. more than 41.9 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles or more this holiday weekend. and that's the highest since 2007. about 85 percent say they'll be driving to their destinations and taking advantage of cheap gas prices. >> we'll be driving to independence mall you and i

>> ♪♪ >> welcome back to a tuesday morning looking outside live we still see the construction here. the vine is closed. this is the vine street expressway at broad street and you can see closed at this point so everyone exiting off and that will continue each night this week at 11 o'clock. so watch for the construction out there early this morning. more construction out there on the northeast extension northbound approaching quakertown. we've got it blocking the right lane. blocking the left lane southbound past quakertown so you have crews going and you've got crews coming. looking in bucks county, pennsylvania turnpike both ways east of bensalem construction here also blocks the left lane. burlington bristol bridge remains closed for that construction that's going on there. that's scheduled to open in about 10 or 15 minutes right now thursday night through thursday each week so we're watching for that. turnpike connector bridge is a good alternate. more construction to talk about. 295 northbound between 47 and 42 blocking up to two lanes until 6 o'clock.

also southbound between 168 and 42. so busy areas with two lanes blocked, matt. >> thank you karen. fraternal order of police of philadelphia is helping a west philadelphia school that was targeted by thieves earlier this month. the fop is donated 20 ipads to saint ignatius of loyola school. they stole computers from the building three weeks ago. the fop is calling on other unions to help replace all of the stolen computers and ipads by the time school starts in the fall. >> a lot of negatives today about policing and this is a positive thing. we're able to give back 20 brand new ipads from apple the apple corporation to help replenish that inventory that was selfishly taken from the students here. >> the fop is also offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the thieves. >> happening today the philadelphia history museum will be free to the public as part of the wawa welcome

the highjacking of flight 11 from boston on september 11th. >> new jersey man has been charged in a plot to help support isis. federal surveillance say he tried to travel to join the the militant group. he purchased a plane ticket for his brother. his arrest comes two weeks after law enforcement arrested another new jersey man on similar charges. he has no criminal record. >> singer katy perry is battling to buy an aging convent with spectacular views in los angeles. the archdiocese of l.a. says the five sisters who own the property jumped the gun by agreeing to sell it to a restaurateur for $15.5 million and has filed suit to try and block the sale saying perry is a better buyer. perry wants to turn the convent into her home. the nuns say perry who met with them to try to smooth things out was offering less. >> 4:57.
