have been moved farther to the northeast. so, roadways should be getting drier out there. nonetheless there are a lot of trees and wires down because of last night's storms. so be careful of that. all those watch boxes across the region last night of course, they are all gone and once we get rid of this current batch of rain it does look like we're generally getting into a lull for a good portion of the rest of the day with just a slight chance of additional pop-up shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. 70 currently in philadelphia, still feeling muggy out there. 68 in wilmington and low to mid 70's down along the boardwalks this morning the as we roll through the day 87 degrees is going to be your high at 3 o'clock. gun just a spotty shower or a thunderstorm later today. the main issue will be just the warmth and humidity. if you have plans to head to the ballpark tonight again mainly dry conditions. probably a little bit on the humid side 83 for the first pitch, 77 in the ninth inning. matt pelman we have another round of rain coming in the accuweather 7-day. that's just ahead. >> it was pouring when i woke up at 2:30 this morning, david, really coming down. a lot of that water that came from the skies is now in the form of puddles on the

roadways that you could hit this morning and lose control. we've seen some of that happening. we saw a crash here on the schuylkill expressway westbound side that sparked a vehicle fire here by montgomery drive. awful accident that they're still cleaning up so they have the two right lanes blocked. just that left lane is squeezing by and we're already seeing a really sizable jam on the westbound schuylkill coming away from girard avenue through this point at montgomery drive. i would say on the other drivers, the mlk or kelly but watch out for a lot of high water on them especially as you round the corners. had some high were there on the schuylkill eastbound this morning near the conshohocken curve. they unclogged the drains there. thwart hasthat water has receded. debris along pine town road at egypt road. they got that cleaned up. downed tree in chester county, westbound lines of the 30 by that right lane blocked but the left lane can get by. and in pennsauken a crash brought down a traffic signal. 130 southbound is blocked near

"action news" reporter katherine scott is live at the state police barracks in wynnefield heights with what we know right now. katherine. >> reporter: that's right matt, two people died in this crash. one person was rushed to hahnemann university hospital. this was a terrible crash. troopers here for the belmont barracks were called out to that scene on the schuylkill expressway and let's go that video of the accident that happened around 2:30 this morning in the westbound lanes of the schuylkill approaching montgomery county drive and you can see the flames were intense. somehow this car lost control and flipped to its side. then it burst into flames. here's what the car looked like after the fire was extinguished. it was just a shell. we don't know yet what led up to the crash or whether the wet roads or storms going on at the time were a factor in this crash. the driver and a passenger

and pennsylvania enters a new fiscal year today without a budget. governor tom wolf vetoed the state legislature's entire spending plan. it is the first full budget veto in pennsylvania more than 40 years. the democratic governor says the republican backed $30.2 billion measure is packed with gimmicks that don't add up. state funded agencies have begun planning for the possibility of a prolonged delay in getting state funds. the wolf administration told state workers back on monday that they would continue to work and be paid. >> my guess is we had a few people joining us at 4:30 this morning who were awakened by today book in the middle of the night. >> no kidding, right. all those thunderstorms fortunately are final over toward the east. we have a lot of roads that still have some water on them and more particularly trees and wires down in parts of the region. we'll go over that in more detail in a moment. for now you can see all we have left is just some light rain activity and it is mostly pushing toward the east of philadelphia toward the east of allentown and almost ready

to get past cape may. the rest of you will have to wait more than another hour or so for that to finally get out of here. as we take a look outside, we have cloudy skies overhead with a couple of little bright patches here or there off the coast of atlantic city. and we are expecting some sun to return. currently 70 degrees, dewpoint at 66 so it is humid out there this morning and the winds ouster south-southwest at 7 miles per hour. we did have some interesting pictures being tweeted in by our "action news" followers on social media. south philadelphia ray sky wire with a really nice picture of one of the stronger storms and you can see how this may have been showing some rotation and storms in and around philadelphia and elsewhere did actually produce some hail as well as strong gusty winds and of course we had three tornado warnings yesterday too. whitehall township jessica shows us this hail stone that she found and that looks like probably quarter sized hail, maybe a little bit bigger. some of these storms pretty powerful. some of the damage that we had, well, it's out in the west as erin o'hearn was just telling us around honeybrook
5:39 am
chester county right around where berks county, chester county and lancaster county come together where the national weather service does plan to go out and investigate a possible tornado. yesterday there was some damage in western can chester county. elsewhere we had 64 miles per hour wind gusts reported flash flooding and quarter size hail in philadelphia delaware county, montgomery county county around the chester county border and back toward the middle of chester county as well. so in and around here would be areas where you might see some trees and wires down as you're driving around. a second spot of concern would be right through lehigh and northampton county right up the center of the counties where we had funnel clouds reported, golf ball sized hail and 61 miles per hour wind gusts, homes damaged. in fact that hail stone i showed you was probably more like golf ball sized hail so this would be another area where you may have problems driving around. in terms of today's rain it's out of here quickly. then by noon looks like we get into a lull, clouds and sun kind of humid. later than there's the chance of a spotty shower or thunderstorm. i'll allow for something in philadelphia as well and by later this evening it looks

like it's all over. i do want to show you though, that the chance for severe weather as posted by the storm prediction center across the country has moved to our north and east today. so we're not expecting any more strong gusty storms around here. nonetheless if you hear thunder go inside because you can always get into trouble with lightning with these storms. 73 degrees by 8 o'clock, 81 by 11 o'clock and your high is 87. we'll probably slot that in right around 3 o'clock this afternoon. warm and muggy today. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, there's that 87, humid a-thunderstorm can't be ruled out but mainly dry the rest of the way. and then sun giving way to clouds on thursday, a high of 84 and late in the day thursday there's the chance of a shower. the best chance is probably closer to the coast or in those counties that seidle right up to the ocean and that will be tomorrow afternoon. then friday morning there could actually be a lingering shower or thunderstorm before we transition to a dry afternoon and a high of 82. for the holiday saturday clouds and sun. the fourth of july 84 degrees a slight chance of a spotty thunderstorm in the afternoon
5:41 am
or evening but most of your five works celebrations will probably be able to go off without a hitch. and then it looks like we're sunny and very warm on sunday, maybe a bit humid this weekend and staying under the sun as we head into next week's work week. >> okay. thank you day. it's now 5:41 and developing this morning the death toll is expected to rise after military plane slams into homes overseas. >> a pennsylvania couple wants to get to the bottom of how their baby suffered a fractured skull while at the hospital. matt. >> matt, it's not the morning to be on the schuylkill expressway westbound unless you like this sort of thing which i doubt that you do. westbound a parking lot from the vine on out toward montgomery drive because of a crash. regional rail issues an closure in pennsauken coming up. >> okay matt. the white house is boosting security to stop people from jumping the fence.
