barracks where sean cullen was assigned when he joined the force back in august of 2014. this evening he is remembered as a dedicated law enforcement officer, an athlete and a family man. >> this morning the flag was lowered outside of the bellmawr state barracks to honor their fallen brother, sean cullen. >> because of the job we do, any time a police officer loses their life it impacts everyone because people realize it could be them. >> the 31-year-old trooper responded to a crash, he was going across the street to get a statement when he was struck by a 21-year-old driver. he was flown by shopper to cooper medical hospital and was pronounced dead later. >> we held out hope until the end that there would be a miracle in this case. >> cullen was born in dublin, ireland and moved to new jersey

as a child and graduated from cinnaminson high school and he dreamed of a career in law enforcement and served on several departments including sea isle city, mount holly and west hampton before joining the state police where his brother serves as a detective. >> he was everything, he became full-time in west hampton and it meant everything to him and when he had the opportunity to work side by side with his brother that was his goal. >> he leaves behind a mother, father, two brothers and a sister and a fiance a baby and one on the way. >> they are a strong spiritual family and we hope that will help them get them through it. >> reporter: the driver of the car did stop immediately at the scene and give a voluntary blood test and the driver has not been

charged. the police have received an outpouring of supfrom police departments from around the region offering to help them in any way. i'm sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. knowledge governor, chris christie, expressed his condolences today. he released this statement in part, new jersey remembers the loss of state trooper sean cullen and reminds us how the dangers delivers face on the job. and the college posted a remembrance on their facebook page today. sean cullen is one of great ones. an all american, he finished his career 94-30 and was inducted into the hall-of-fame in 2012. our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this

accident at b and ontario, we are freezing the video before a tow truck slammed into a mother pushing her two children in a stroller. the mother was was taken to pennsylvania state hospital and she remains in critical condition and her two daughters, ages 4 and 1 are in saint christopher's hospital. the 1-year-old is in stable condition at this hour. the tow truck driver remained at the scene. the preliminary investigation finds he was not at fault here. neighbors point to this few hole in the sidewalk as a possible cause for the mother veering out into the street. >> six months ago a man in a wheelchair also went to avoid the hole got hit by a car also. approximately the same area the woman was in. >> that is what you believe happened last night? >> that is my theory. >> we saw pedestrians stepping

following "action news" at 6:00. we have breaking news now out of west philadelphia tonight where three people have been stabbed. chopper 6 hd was over the scene at 56th and baltimore. we are told that one person has died. dann cuellar just arrived on the scene and has the latest. >> reporter: rick, police describe this as a crazy situation that unfolded here that nobody was expecting on this beautiful spring-like day when a man began stabbing people at 6th and baltimore. when the 55-year-old assailant walked into the cricket store be stabbed a man in the chest and then walks to a car with a man with the windows down and he jumps in and tries to stab him. the assailant then walks across

the street to a 30-year-old male talking to his girlfriend while getting his car fist and stabs him in the chest. he staggers to baltimore after and collapses dead on the trolley tracks. the victims were unknown to the assailant. >> they saw him and stabbed him and saw another person and took another opportunity and walks across the street and sees a guy talking to his fiance and walks up and stabs him and keeps on walki walking. a terrible, terrible situation. >> now the 55-year-old suspect has been taken into custody and the weapon is recovered. the two victims that survived are being treated for their injuries. we are live here in south philadelphia on this very tragic day. dann cuellar, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. from our delaware newsroom, delaware police are looking for a man that shot a man and left

him on the street. the 27-year-old victim was hit in the chest and he was rushed to christiana hospital and did not survive. anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call wilmington police. philadelphia police arrest toward people in connection with a deadly shooting last week. one suspect is just 15 years old. police arrested the teenager along with khalil davenport yesterday, they are charged in the murder of 20-year-old jay von pendleton middleton on lambert street in north philadelphia. this is 35-year-old jose, the suspects leader of a pottstown gang. it was the group's rivalry that brought violence to pottstown city streets. he was one of several people arrested last may as part of a

joint sting operation. now a major grown breaking for project home in philadelphia. the advocacy group is now providing a new space for people trying to rebuild their lives. mayor kenney joined sister mary scullin and others as they broke ground here at 15th broad street. they will have 88 apartments for men and women that were homeless and officials say having a safe place to live helps those having hard times to thrive and even give back to others. >> everyone of those individuals that find themselves in the homeless situation say human being with a story and if you understand their story you'll understand how they got where they are. and in many cases it's not their own fault. >> i want to help other youth like me who have gotten through challenges in their life and i want to let them know they have somebody by their side. someone that went through it too. >> project home says the location of their new apartment

looking at sky 6 hd the sun is about to set below the horizon at 6:01, a lot of blue sky and high clouds and a beautiful couple of days ahead in fact june like here, as we look at double scan live radar you look at that image and say there is nothing on the radar and that is the way it will stay for the next couple of days. as we open up the almanac. it was 75 in philadelphia, 25 degrees above normal. the record for the date we didn't hit it. it was 80 degrees set in 2000 and tomorrow's record was set in 2000 but to give you a fact here. in 2000 each though we had records of 80 plus for a couple of days in a row. that year in april of 2000 we had an inch and a half of snow on the ground in philadelphia. so even though you have 80 or so degrees in march, you can still have snow in the month of april. we'll see if that happens this

year. as we look at the temperature, 68 in quakertown and 72 in center city and upper 60s not north of the lehigh valley and 70s in central delaware ans you hit the shore, the sea breeze kicked in and temperatures are cooler in the low to mid-50s. a warm front pushed through and all of those clouds have fallen apart at the present time the wispy clouds here and there and it stays exceptionally mild with clouds around and 44 to 51 with the split in temperature. and the normal high again for this time of year. that is where we settle for a low tonight. the day planner, 7:00 a.m., 55 degrees, jumped to 67 at 7:00 and near or at 80 degrees at 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon with just a few high clouds around. this march heat pump continues into thursday and the high pressure is off the carolinas
